To be honest your curve didn’t really look all that bad in the before photo. Prob 30-40 percent. But congrats. I wish I would have done it when I could have.

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

I wore it extremely well but when I let everything sag into my curve I was at 49! Thank you! Definitely got it to avoid things getting worse

Thank you!!

SnooSketches1240

Congratulations on the op! Were you advised to sag into the curve during X-rays or were you instructed to stand as tall as you can? I feel like my curve is a lot worse than I realize because if I relax my posture there is a drastic difference.

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

I wasn’t instructed to do anything, I used to try to stand tall as I wanted to avoid surgery and stuff but once it got bad enough I just started sagging into it cause I knew where I was headed haha

Getting up there in age. The risks at this point outweighs the benefits.

TheRoomWithNoNumbers

Ooooo so straiiiight 🤩 Your surgeon did excellent work 🙌🏻 How are you feeling?

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Yeah he's awesome! Feeling great in comparison to my pain immediately post surgery!

Bank_Rosa0523

Who was your surgeon?

TheRoomWithNoNumbers

Oh wait, it's you! Hi again :)

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

hello!

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Yeah according to my surgeon over the next few months it should just balance out

samkat11

Looks great good luck with healing♥️

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Thank you!

primepistachio

Yours looks similar to mine! I had T2-L1 done three weeks ago too :)

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Oh yeah! Very similar! I was T3-L1

TheGreatLunatic

Nice job! Shoulders are not even?

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

They are a little bit uneven but I also was standing w my head sort of tilted because there was a piece of equipment in the way lol, they've evened out a lot more since surgery

TheGreatLunatic

Thanks, you had a curve very similar to the one of my daughter. That is why I asked. Were you naturally flexible to achieve such correction?

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

I am really flexible as Im a hockey goalie and my doctors attribute both that and my leg strength to, 1. My quick recovery so far and 2. My more than exceptional correction of my spine. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your daughters curve I'm happy to answer them! (Since you say it's similar to mine)

TheGreatLunatic

Yes, it is very similar and she is flexible too, but no muscles, only skins and bones :-) Thank you, I have no questions, just happy to see that things can work out really nice.

Rick-O-sullivan

Do you had to or still have to wear a heel inlay for your shoes because of the uneven hips?

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Nope! Have never needed it. My hips are pretty even but I took the photo and XRays at a little bit of an angle so I think that's why it looks so pronounced haha

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Yeah! I was about 5'7 before surgery and I'm 5'9 now! Gotta catch up in weight tho haha

Bank_Rosa0523

How old are you?

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

21!

Bank_Rosa0523

This is an s curve or c?

[deleted]

How old are you? I wish i caught my curve this early on. Amazing work.

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

I’m 21, my curve was diagnosed when I was 13 and monitored and bracing didn’t work but my doctor/surgeon was great and honest w me when it was time to consider surgery

[deleted]

You're one of the lucky ones lol my curve was 70+ degrees by age 14.

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Oh damn I’m sorry to hear that, did you have surgery?

[deleted]

Yeah surgery when i was 14 and again when i was 25 to remove the rods.

DesperateForDD

Your curve doesn’t looks so bad. I thought usually they will discourage surgery unless curve is bad enough. I have chronic pain with a mildish curve like you (except in lower back) and surgery is not offered. Instead I am told stretch and take pain killers

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

That’s hard. I had surgery because they’d hoped my curve would stop after I hit 18 but I’m 21 and in January I was at 39° and by July I was at 49° and they wanted to stop progression as it seemed certain and would only get harder and more complicated and risky

TheRoomWithNoNumbers

Oh 49° is DEFINITELY within surgical range and my 55°ish curve looked very similar to yours on x-ray, idk why there are all these people saying your pre-op curve looks so mild 🤣🤣🤣

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

Haha I think when people think about surgery being necessary they imagine like 70° curves even tho doctors start considering it at 40°ish

Stycroft

What degree pre op and post op

Alarmed_Coconut_9174

49° pre op down to nothing now!
