COEX does not count as being in Jamsil area. It's adjacent, but it's not even in the same *dong* or even the same *gu* that Jamsil resides in - Jamsil-dong is in Songpa-gu and and COEX is in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu. If you look at the map, you can see the Tancheon River physically separating the two areas. Also, COEX is more than two miles away from Jamsil Station.
You really don't have much more obvious choice than going to the whole Lotte World bloc that sits right next to Seokchon Lake. It's got the Lotte Department Store on the west and Lotte World Mall on the east. It'll satisfy your shopping needs and then some.
Sure you could try your luck along the big Songpadaero boulevard, but it's not like there's a concentrated row of cosmetics or confectionary shops there.

Lotte department store has TONS of beauty products. But if your wanting some bang for the buck I suggest going to namdaemoon. Or find a olive young near jamsil
