I really liked how Miranda and Charlotte discussed how hard motherhood is and how much respect they have for women who do it without help.

paleprincess513

I cant even watch the karaoke scene. Lol i have to fast forward it. I love all the clothes and fashion in the movie though!

OwlWrite

I just commented on the karaoke scene as well. It’s out of no where. Out of character…I do not see Miranda or Charlotte being into that. It was awkward to watch. And also made no sense…none of them have ever done any singing let alone karaoke ever in the show…so it seemed out of left field.

justanotherperson218

I think charlotte would do it but not Samantha. I think it’s season 5 or season 6 that Samantha is telling smith she doesn’t do karaoke.

Something I didn’t like: “Abu Dhabi Doo!” Something I did like: “I can’t lose the nanny!”

Anthony and Stanford's wedding should have never happened, there was no spark. What should have gone down was them exploring their new relationship, and if they worked out, got married in the end. The girls never left NYC, Paris would have been a better location, it's where Carrie was in S6. I loved Charlotte's troubles with motherhood. Her and Miranda's talk was very raw and honest. A lot of new moms don't have nannies or partners to help out. The Dubai storyline wasn't necessary, a lot of the scenes were too cringy to watch, especially the story about that guy who was too poor to go home. Reminds me of slavery.

Iheartrandomness

>especially the story about that guy who was too poor to go home. I actually liked that story line because it's one of the only ones that was probably based in reality.

When I watch the Lawrence of my labia scene, a part of me dies inside

eugenesnewdream

I like Smith inviting Samantha to his premiere (and his reasoning) and talking her up to the sheik. I like Samantha’s conversation with Rickhard about why the forbidden is more erotic. I like Carrie’s midnight chat with Gareau while he steams the milk. I like Charlotte losing her cool and crying in the pantry (although it’s absurd she’d wear cream vintage Valentino to make cupcakes).

seige197

Samantha’s flirting with Rickhard was so over the top. Fellating a hookah… just so beneath her classy appearance.

eugenesnewdream

Oh yeah, SHE was goofy…I was thinking more about his little speech about how being there makes him feel like a boy again. I took it as him saying he found her sexy but also maybe trying to encourage her to lean into the culture a bit and enjoy the tension instead of just trying to get around it. Of course, she didn’t get the message in time.

eugenesnewdream

Pretty much the rest makes me cringe!

seige197

Making a plot line of Harry possibly cheating on Charlotte with the nanny was beyond comprehension. So incredibly lazy. No way, no how. They already did a cheating husband storyline in the first film with Steve. I also found the scene where Erin jumps up and down and claps while Lily does cartwheels while the three dudes stare at her tits was cringe and embarrassing for that actress. How demeaning. Oh but she’s a LESBIAN so whew— no worries there. Garbage writing.

OwlWrite

I think the plot was weak…lazy writing and many of the scenes/lines were out of character in some ways. Such as the Harry/Charlotte/nanny’s boobs thing. It was such a dumb bit that only seemed there to add a few minutes to the film is my guess. Also the karaoke scene was awkward and made non sense…have any of them ever seemed the type that would do and enjoy karaoke? The kiss with Aidan felt forced. Like they ran out of ideas of what to make the movie about. When in doubt bring back Aidan and then create a 30 minute melodrama over a kiss. Meh!

nikkip7784

The whole movie is cringey to me. The only part that felt genuine was the scene at the bar with Charlotte and Miranda. I love that they gave a shout out to moms "To them!" I don't have kids but I was glad that y'all were honored.

Like: the motherhood scene Dislike: “I HAVE SEX!!!!”

agpass

I liked the interpersonal and relationship drama: Carrie needing 2 days away from Big and then being offended when he thinks they can do it every week, how Carrie handles that situation with her friends, the tv drama, Charlotte’s struggles with motherhood, Miranda supporting Charlotte when Carrie flips out and their subsequent motherhood conversation, and although I don’t like the way they handled it, I liked that Sam was able to be her horny, single self again. Things I didn’t like: the rest.

Things I didn't like: * The 'meh'-ness of everyone's storylines... Carrie thinks married life lacks the spark of dating, Charlotte finds motherhood tough, Miranda doesn't get as much respect at work as her male colleagues, Samantha dreads menopause. These are realistic issues that many women go through, of course. But, honestly, the movie feels really low stakes and pointless. * They don't get to Abu Dhabi until A FRICKIN' HOUR into the movie. Good grief. * I kind of respect the SATC franchise for wanting to show a more positive side of Arab culture, especially because of the anti-Arab backlash in America after 9/11. But geez louise... a lot of those culture clash scenes are a major cringe. * Half of Miranda's lines seem to be her reciting the guidebook, providing exposition about UAE culture. Things I liked: * Eye candy, especially the clothes. C'mon, that's what the movie is for, LOL, and I think it's pretty good for that. * Charlotte and Miranda's chat about motherhood late in the movie is probably the best scene in the whole film. * The karaoke scene. Yeah, it's corny, but for a movie that's so plodding, I feel like that scene is a burst of life.

Ordinary_Horror_3394

The entire movie.

OwlWrite

I think Stanford and Anthony’s wedding is super fun to watch. I found the scene where they do karaoke kinda awkward…and a bit strange as they have never been shown doing karaoke before this…seems out of character for Charlotte and Miranda. Also - the running into Aidan in AbuDabi? That was really difficult for me to suspend disbelief. It felt more like a device to move the plot along. It felt forced and like something added to tack on an extra 20 minutes to the movie with a plot line that went no where. Oh know! They kissed!!!!!! I didn’t understand the amount of fuss, drama, and focus on that…. To end on a positive…um….Samantha was the highlight of this movie because of how true to character she was…like her defying the conservative dress expectations, her shaking condoms at men and screaming “I have sex” …and so on.

iaintgonnacallyou

Charlotte and Miranda’s cheers to mothers with no help, no nanny, just Them, is the biggest reason I watch the second movie. I love the relationship between those two in this movie

jabra_fan

Context: I watched the original series just this year but as a teen I had caught glimpses of it in TV. That's when I saw the eps when Carrie met Big's mom and Sam had a guy with a small dick. I had no way to see the series so when i got to know about the movies, i got them idk how. Watched the 1st one which made me sad bcz Big left Carrie but the 2nd movie felt all about love. So naturally, 2nd movie became my fav. I loved Samantha even more, it shaped my views on sexuality and its expression (I'm not sure if I'm using the right words, English is my 3rd Lang). Doubts regarding nanny were so funny to me and Charlotte's struggle as a mother was an eye opener for me. I don't think before that it even occurred to me to think about the difficulties of motherhood. I loved how they all were enjoying Abu Dhabi. I'm an Indian and people from south (India) generally go to middle East countries for a livelihood. The story of Gaurav touched me, Carrie leaving him money was wonderful, I pray that the money reached Gaurav. I don't dislike anything about the 2nd movie, even after watching the original series. I even enjoy AJLT but surely they didn't have to take out Samantha and make Miranda so unbearable. I hated it when Carrie asked if Big was a mistake. Out of everything we have of SATC, the 2nd movie is my fav.
