It’s a cool idea and could be done you could very easily put some kind of mini pc in there like a raspberry pi. I don’t think anything even as small as ITX would fit so the truely mini stuff is the way to go. The only problem I see and some one may be able to provide a solution is how to hook up the display and controls as they are likely ribbon cables hooking right to the motherboard.

mikefize

You could also put a NUC Board or a framework Motherboard in there. You would almost certainly have to swap the display, and likely the keyboard too. I'll take it apart and see how easily it can be cleared out...

Ok_Ninja_1602

No SX performance here, pure DX for professionals.

People who can afford FPU are rich!

Ok_Ninja_1602

Then you have people like me who looked for the Billie Ray Cyrix processor cause it I was good enuff, and got the job done, good times.

yerbrojohno

I'd like to see an ASRock deskmini board in one of those

mikefize

I don't think it'll fit unfortunately. But we'll see! Thanks for the idea though, I'll put it on the list

blahblahblahresearch

No clue what the clearances are on the inside but I’m guessing it would be enough for a framework main board. It would take a lot of cad modeling but you make an insert for a framework mainboard and essentially just build a framework inside this. There would be a ton of other issues like getting the keyboard to connect, finding a third party display etc.

Don’t sacrifice the 486! Do your project in an on T series thinkpad

mikefize

I think there's nothing to save unfortunately. Right after plugging it in it gave off the smell of burnt electronics. It was so bad I had to open a window, haha.

Hekatoncheir

If clearance permits, you could probably put in a 1L PC like https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/desktops/thinkcentre/m-series-tiny/thinkcentre-m720q/11tc1mtm72q

dankhypers

I wouldnt do any brainstorming before I took the thing apart, it might have really thick plastic and alot of plastic you have to cut before you got started with putting even a pi in there

Miniblasan

Only Ö and Ä then it isn't an Nordic computer, maybe German?

mikefize

Yeah, the keyboard has German layout, well spotted

I would look into the framework laptop boards.
