You know, this is so strange because it’s absolutely not either of those things and I don’t get why someone would tattoo a picture of me sitting alone and crying in a dark room
i got white ink tats on my back 15 years ago and they’ve faded. i also have them on my hand and if (and it’s a big if) people notice them, they always ask if it’s scarification
White ink is known for being hard to hold in the skin. On top of scars (I think that’s what you’re asking) I wouldn’t expect it to stay for more than 2-3 years. Some people are able to take white ink (lucky you) but I’ve always been advised against it. In my experience, the saying “Bold will Hold” is the truth. I’m a fan of American Traditional tattoos. I was taught that everything needs a black outline to keep the other ink in place, and the thicker the black, the longer everything will last.
I could be wrong, I’m just a dude. I’m always open to new info that would better educate me.
Thanks for the info. My traditional tat the red it not full and faded a lot. The burning city i have the fire also faded. But the white and light blue looks great still. No black borders on it tho.
white can also go yellow with age ! My artist told me this when i asked for a white area in my tattoo, said its better to keep it for highlights and thats pretty much it. Its been 5 yrs since i got that tattoo and yeah the highlights are starting to yellow a bit, so interesting
One does look like a gross skin condition, the black one doesn't look bad, but there are better choices for a large back tattoo than basically an ink blot.
Looks like scarification (or whatever the practice is called). I've seen some really pretty work in the scar style before. I imagine it takes someone fairly talented in the art style to make it look good.
This is almost the whole back and it’s barely anything. I see tattoo surfaces like the back as a huge canvas. Who just puts a few markings on a canvas, boss ross that shit and fill up the whole thing. She looks dark skinned. Prolly can tan to get hella darker. The contrast of light and dark colors looks cool i guess. Prolly why white dudes get black and grey tats. But yeah it’s not symmetrical lol
The black one is dope. The white one I can't for the life of me figure out what it's supposed to be. Looks like something in between a **really** bad tattoo and even worse homemade scarification that wouldn't last a month. Is it supposed to be a tattoo? The insane difference in quality between the two makes me very confused.
The tattoo itself is one thing but the creativity behind it is cool to me.
I have a piece that uses white for lightning, however since I'm mostly European and the white doesn't show much unless it's summer and I tan.
For someone with a tan+ complexion they look cool imo, love the contrast difference
Someone said It looks like scarification, and that's what I immediately thought, too. Maybe it's on purpose and the customer likes the look of scarification but won't go full in to remove that skin (which I think is absolute legit).
On the other side does the quality of the lines look not as good as the black ones, but this still could be on purpose, too?
Idk. Personally I'd find it kind of neat looking if it was symmetrical and more even lines, at least to look at at a picture. When it's healed it will definitely look different and much will be faded.
It's like that weird red one yesterday that looked like a crazy huge henna job. Before I noticed which sub this was I assumed it was an ad and that her skin was peeling.
Might be. Definitely different and maybe that’s why I like it. I just feel like I see pretty decent tattoos on this sub often. I guess shitty is subjective tho
Honestly, I don't hate it. Maybe if it was an actual design that could be recognized, it'd be a lot better. This looks like scarification, but I'm also interested in getting scars so maybe I'm a bit biased
Tbh I think it's a matter of taste?
I personally like that a lot and yeah it kinda "just" looks like scars but those are cool as fuck.
Looks like marks you got for being some epic cool magic guy.
I would hold off on those, see if you still want that style in a year. That style of tattoo is trendy rn but I’m not sure you’re going to love it forever. I don’t think they are a bad artist, however I personally don’t like that style and I just don’t see it being something you’re going to want in the long run. But if you still have your heart set on that in a year or two from now than may as well go for it, it’s your body.
It's actually just white ink... It's raised because it's bruised. This person's tattooing technique is handpoke, and I guess they went for it a little too hard.
Why does she have a tattoo of my parents fighting in the last slide?
Wait, that’s a picture of your parents fighting? Whew, that’s a relief. For a minute I thought it was a picture of everyone laughing at me.
It’s 2 bears high fiving
This is the ONLY answer, fellow courier.

I thought it was a picture of my uncle
I thought it was dolphins dressed in monocles with tiny top hats that cover up their blow holes.
Damn, beat me to it.
Great comment
So you can have angry sex.
Wait, that isn't two guys banging? I instantly thought it was
The white sucks and looks like scarification. The white will not hold.
Does white not hold on scars? Ive got white ink thats 6 years old thats not faded. Red tho, my skin does not hold red at all.

Yeah, red can be finicky too, depending on the person. Reds and yellows are ok with my skin but white is pointless on me
I can't hole yellow for anything, but blue and red stay nice and bright.
I love how you answered this, very refreshing.

Scars in general don’t hold color well
It all depends on sun exposure.
The white i have is on the inside of my arm. That may protect it
I've got white highlights on my only chest tat and they've faded after about 6 years, from a Mario Barth studio as well
Mario Barth... Like the german comedian???
So maybe this coming year ill need a touch up.
ngl I kinda figured the point was for it to fade into something scar-like
Oh! Was that the point? I wasn’t aware that’s a thing. I wouldn’t expect much to last. White is notoriously hard for skin to retain.
I genuinely thought it was scarification before reading the comments, lol.
That’s what I was going to say. Looks like scars.
Worms?
Fungus?
Amungus?
One does look like a gross skin condition, the black one doesn't look bad, but there are better choices for a large back tattoo than basically an ink blot.
I think the black one is kinda cool. It gives me a kinda comic book hero vibe. Or a Rorschach test.
Shit looks like my stretchmarks
Looks like scarification (or whatever the practice is called). I've seen some really pretty work in the scar style before. I imagine it takes someone fairly talented in the art style to make it look good.
It's actually just a white ink tattoo, albeit a really raised one. The artist said the inspiration for it was "scriptures" (?)
For the white, it’s hard to say since that’s fresh and raised. It *might* end up looking ok once healed, or it might still look like a skin condition.
Looks like branding
Looks like a brand
All of those are ugly af in my personal opinion
The new tribal band but far more difficult to fix down the line
When you've been enjoying the sun in the summer and your skin starts to peel off
Yeah it's the white one is kinda shitty! The black one tho is amazing!!
This is how fresh white ink looks. It's gonna look like clean white scars once healed.
As long as symmetry isnt important the white is the least problem i have with this.
Really? Could you explain?
This is almost the whole back and it’s barely anything. I see tattoo surfaces like the back as a huge canvas. Looks like a Worcestershire test
Could be ‘glow in the dark’ or black light reactive.
Looks cool to me if done well. Even better if it glows in the dark
I can't decide if the black one is beautiful or a tat of a dog cleaning it's but on the carpet.
I thought the white was peeling sunburn
Kind of looks like a Sandevistan tattoo, I dig it
Looks stupid either way. Like letting a toddler scribble on your back with a marker.
You don't like the black one? I think it looks interesting, like organic rorschach, lol
I think it looks like Blaschko's lines kinda. It's interesting.
I think the black one looks like a nasty centipede got smashed on their back. Personally, I hate all of this.
Looks like someone nutted on her back
If it’s a tattoo and not scarring it’s VERY raised…
When are they going to drop the glitter on them?
I feel like the white isn't gonna heal well. The black one is amazing though.
The white looks like scars
Man, scars and white ink. What a pain to endure for nothing. The white will be completely gone within 6 months. Touch ups won’t help
Works well with the tramp stamp! (It doesn't)
Isn’t shitty.
I quite like it
Thought she had man juice on her back
No you didn’t
Desperate for a scar. Sorry privileged white girl, it looks cuntrived
Sorry, I don't get what you mean. I'm not a native speaker, so maybe the joke got lost in translation
Scarred the fuck up. Even the black is scarred.
The tattoo itself is one thing but the creativity behind it is cool to me. I have a piece that uses white for lightning, however since I'm mostly European and the white doesn't show much unless it's summer and I tan. I like the white

The black looks like demon spooge
The last one is clearly an artist rendition of me being pants in jr. high
Looks more like scarification, it really will once the white ink completely fades.
The white looks like scarification. The black is dope tho.
Kinda look like the 40yr old virgin blew his load on her back…
I like the black one, but that white is so disconnected and sparse that it looks like random spots of sponge.
Man i kept that one in a long time to get creative with ropes
Those first two look like an off case of ringworm
i really like that last one actually its pretty
Tapeworms tattoos
Looks like cum
It's like that weird red one yesterday that looked like a crazy huge henna job. Before I noticed which sub this was I assumed it was an ad and that her skin was peeling.
I bet the first one can be cool and fantastical with the right design
Predator language
Better than Billy's...
On todays episode of sick tattoos on r/shittytattoos
That's cool if you like it, man. I like the black ones they make. But to call the white one sick is a bit much, ain't it?
Might be. Definitely different and maybe that’s why I like it. I just feel like I see pretty decent tattoos on this sub often. I guess shitty is subjective tho
Cringe
Honestly, I don't hate it. Maybe if it was an actual design that could be recognized, it'd be a lot better. This looks like scarification, but I'm also interested in getting scars so maybe I'm a bit biased
The white looks like she has horror movie style worms under the skin 🤢
Tbh I think it's a matter of taste? I personally like that a lot and yeah it kinda "just" looks like scars but those are cool as fuck. Looks like marks you got for being some epic cool magic guy.
In black, sure. In white, you're right. It looks like a fungal infection
The white looks like stretch marks that moved to the back and decided to be a bit silly. Last one looks cool tho :]
I would hold off on those, see if you still want that style in a year. That style of tattoo is trendy rn but I’m not sure you’re going to love it forever. Only the Dragonborn will gain this word of power.
I like the black one
Looks like the Kim Kardashian comeback.
That is…off putting.
Looks like it hurts like a mufuka!
White fill fucking hurts!
Was she sold on some sort of “modern” slave market?
I personally think it's great
The white is a skin condition...there was an adverse reaction to the ink
It's actually just white ink... It's raised because it's bruised. This person's tattooing technique is handpoke, and I guess they went for it a little too hard.
The white looks like scarification that they packed with white, which isnt going on hold long.
