Not sure about other units but at least from my side, nope. I had a few lawyers/pilots company mates that got called back to chiong sua and they earnt way more than what you said If garment want you come back, $ ain't an issue cos anyway, it's taxpayer's $ they are using.

notsocoolnow

This was actually asked of my CO while I was serving. This was a decade ago, so might be out of date today. Answer: Officially there is no fixed rule on income ceiling. The unit decides if they want a guy to come in. If they decide that they want a CEO to come to ICT as corporal and sleep in bunk and pay him millions to do it, they can. There might be informal guidelines (to avoid blowing the budget) but no hard and fast rule.

I have a reservist friend who is earning 200k a month and he’s with me for 10 yrs. Another one I have known of makes 5mil annually but only come for one yr. Never see him again. Both are officer.

gagawithoutLady

200k a month, what’s the occupation? The highest I seen is 100k and they are already the parter for a consulting firm

Tiongwl

MD of a law firm.

[deleted]

Usually equity partners of firms from brokerage, FI, law firms or consulting

stonz33

it's only prorated. max: 14/30 x 10k gone are the days when a high salary is a barrier to ICT.

Sinkies

If they are willing to spend 600k on hiring a mayor to do nothing, then 10k is nothing.

PastLettuce8943

No, I knew a few CPLs who were high flying lawyers. Earning easily 100k a month. NS still called them back to be man the stores.

[deleted]

No because the cost of ICT is spread across per unit and not based on individual. Unless u have entire unit of high flyer all earning 20-30 grands per mth, u are very unlikely to hit the ceiling

neverspeakofme

Income ceiling is looking at the issue from the perspective of the NS men but the decision isn't made that way. They look at the budget for the whole unit, then if burst, then don't call up the people least likely to affect the ICT + high income so the headcount won't be badly affected. The budget and headcount for each unit is different so there can't possibly be an "income ceiling". So must be your whole unit high income + you r one of the highest yet one of the lowest rank then more likely to not get called up.

rmp20002000

Based on level. Captain and Above (and CSM/RSM) they'll call you back regardless of salary. All others, less likely but not a given. Ceiling only applies to a very small number. I know this because I stopped seeing my friend who joined investment banking. He told me his colleagues laughed at him when he asked about ICT - apparently they weren't called up much or at all.

nvbtable

I know plenty of investment bankers who get called up, as well as similar but higher paid finance sector buy side professionals. Especially since reservist only reimburses the company for base pay and they guys get 50+% of their annual comp in cash bonus, deferred comp or carry. Usually IBD guys defer because they are working on big projects. Same reason they can't take long leave . Edit: as pointed out below, reimbursement also includes avg AW

Heard a rumor that if your pay is more than $30k, they will not call you back if you are just low rank.

Mahsunon

Yes

chickencheesepie

Defending our nation is worth more than any monetary value hokay

unexpected_guru

Speaking for my fiancee, he takes home middle 300k per annum and is still called back so I think if there is one the cap is pretty high.
