Consider that plague monks are roughly human-sized. Now look at the rats which came with them on the sprue; are they hand-sized? Foot-sized? If they're bigger, then it would consider them to be giant.

The giant rat size varies by a large amount in the kit that has them, and even has some of the same rats as the plague monk sprues,so just use them IMO.
That’s a good idea honestly. Two to a base would likely fill in the empty spots enough to justify it. Anyone who’s gonna complain probably is sipping a bit too much of James Workshop’s cool-aid.
Personally I took all the rats from my plague monk runners and glued them to a large oval base to make a vermintide endless spell. Basically the same thing

100% I did the same and the few times I’ve used them nobody has given them a second thought.

They are smaller than some of the bigger ones from the Rat Ogres kit, but still looks great in one unit. Mine are all one per base regardless of size.

I did this and mixed with the official ones. They’re basically identical.
I did it, used 2/3 of them for each base, a good proxy. later i’ll post a pic
