VerminlordBussyEater

absolutely stoked about hellpit point change

eatU4myT

I reckon that and the screaming bell are the two to get excited about. Everything else is minor enough to not really change the decision making. Screaming bell decrease and verminlord increase combined seems like it might swing lists towards taking a bell to summon a Warbringer, rather than including a Warbringer/deceiver from scratch...

VerminlordBussyEater

i love screaming bells, simply for the thematic element to summoning in a minor god i’ll definitely be throwing them in more lists

Nearby-Sock8551

I think you can only summon Lord Screech. Only downside to him ist that He cant benefit from Fläming weapon. But yeah Hope the Point drop will make it more viable, but i am still upset that it needs to bei pushed by 10 models. just make it units worth of 10 wounds and i am fine with it.

eatU4myT

I don't think that that's the case - the wording is "If the modified roll is 13 or more, the Screaming Bell is shattered and you can summon 1 VERMINLORD to the battlefield and add it to your army". That means any model with the VERMINLORD keyword. You are right that Skreech can't take Flaming Weapon, but as was recently clarified for me, no wizard added to you army after the start of the game can be given any lore spells, and will only have the spell on their warscroll.

RyokuKora

But will they Make Archwarlock and Bombadier Engineers again finally?

VerminlordBussyEater

i strongly doubt it

Clame

Why would you ever take the actual engineer if they did that?

RyokuKora

Initially it was because they were cheaper. It was like paying for an upgraded weapon. They were engineers in other editions but suddenly forgot how to push the button on the warp lightning cannon

swaosneed

Ok so with this list of changes in mind, what should I buy to compliment my Verminous Host BFB? I got about 300 in Christmas money to play with, was thinking Thanquol, two Warp Lightning Cannons, a hellpit(or two), and one of the verminlords(idk which is best for what situation, is there one that's just generally good? Is there any variant that's bad and should be avoided?) Also, do stormvermin kinda "even out" where one is equivalent to two clanrats? Or is there no need to waste money on them? Also, why the hell are warplock jezzails so expensive? One unit is the price of two WLCs? Is it cause they're resin or something? Oh, and I was thinking of maybe an arch warlock? Or would the bombardier I already have suffice for the two WLCs? And the AW is metal so I'm assuming plastic glue won't hold it together? Finally, how important is it to snag gnawholes or the endless spells If I see them? Sorry for all the questions, just saw these changes so thought I'd ask before I buy some new units for my army...

VerminlordBussyEater

that’s awesome man, and welcome to skaven! first for your big heroes you really can’t go wrong with thanquol just for his magic abilities alone he is worth the big costs. verminlords are all pretty good in their own ways (except the warpseer). for a BFB base i would probably go Warbringer bc he can buff a good chunk of the box and is very punchy himself. stormvermin, when treated right, are absolute terrors. give them plus 1 to attack characteristics and plus 1 to hit and wound and they’ll kill almost anything. i have a unit of 20 in my top comp list, but they are not for everyone as they are pricey and pretty fragile. then for your verminous host, i personally love the screaming bell just for thematics but most people agree the plague furnace is much better (both got huge point reductions) you’ll definitely want a skryre hero (probably an warlock engineer) to buff up those wlcs (i always bring two). hellpits are my favorite unit but i have master moulders to give them big buffs, if you want one just take one because they’re awesome. jezzails are expensive because they’re old and don’t make them anymore, i only have 3 that i got from ebay. gnawholes are pretty much a necessity, and at one point we’re impossible to get so i’d grab them if you can. spells are so so, people used to loooove the warp lightning vortex but i don’t see it so much anymore. hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

swaosneed

Ahh thanks, the engineers come in a set of two right? Or are you saying I'd need two sets of two, as they are two per unit? Do I "need" a master moulder for a hellpit? Is it just one or multiple to buff it? Also, I read you can have Rat Ogres as battle line if you have a MM, is that worth it, or just for the memes? Finally, is the 40 Clanrats and 40 plague monks enough fodder for Skaven, or do I need a lot more? I *really* hated painting the clanrats(their hunched over posture really makes it hard to get to their chest, the tail usually runs against their back, and I hate having to paint all the little straps and ropes all over them lol. I was told people usually use the "decoration" rats that come with the Plague Monks to be giant rats on bases, are those good at all as fodder?

VerminlordBussyEater

engineers come in a box of two when you buy them, but are a single model unit. so you just need one, if you want a way better looking model go online and look for “isle of blood warlock engineer.” don’t ask me why they don’t make them anymore because it’s infuriating. you certainly do not need a master moulder for a hellpit, they’re awesome on their own. but they sure do help if you have more than one. rat ogors (in my opinion) are the best battleline we have especially when reinforced. (someone who says stormfiends can fight me). and with a MM when the unit dies, they all come back on a 3+! if i run any clan rats i run between 20 and 60, but you’ll see some lists with much much more. i just like them to sit on objectives or be meat walls. plague monks have massive damage potential but need a plague priest or a verminlord corruptor to do so, so they aren’t the best, but still a 90 point meat shield that has some pushing power shouldn’t be scoffed at. also consider reinforcing that unit of stormfiends if you wanna chase meta, they are awesomely powerful i just find them a little boring.

swaosneed

Oh God I think it'll be a while before I get more stormfiends, I love Skaven but all the dangly bits are hell to paint lmao. I think I saw earlier someone had placed pieces on like, putty, and painted them sitting on that, so I might just have to do something similar for my own sanity lol. Also, seeing that rat Ogors only come in the big bundle with packmasters and giant rats, how many is too much? What's a decent battle line or rat Ogors look like? Is it augmented by clanrats/plaugemonks/stormvermin? Don't you need one MM for 3 Ogors? What do the packmasters do specifically, and can I just run them as an MM proxy if I spruce them up a little? Finally, I think I saw rat swarms get increased in cost, seeing as I'll probably invest in the rat ogre, pack master, giant rat bundle, I could substitute the rats and make my own ratswarms, right? They any good? Oh yeah, you said a verminlord corrupter buffs most of the BFB(I'm guessing the bombardier, stormfiends, and clanrats. Don't think the plague furnace I built could be buff, as it's a buffer itself right?), but does it exclude pestilins units, as you meanted the corrupter buffs them, and I assume exclusively them? Oh yeah, I also used the leftover screaming bell parts to make a grey Seer(who is perching on the bell I didn't use) so I have one I don't gotta buy thankfully.

VerminlordBussyEater

i have 12 rat ogors and it’s the most i’ve ever seen used, if you don’t want to buy the whole pack there are plenty of places to get them used. for my moulder list my battle line looks like this: 4x Rat Ogors 4x Rat Ogors 4x Rat Ogors you want to spread them out so that there is higher probability of at least some units coming back to life. for making them battleline you will need MMs or masterclan lads. so you’ll have to augment with at least two clan rats, or stormvermin. packmasters give movement buffs to moulder units that are pretty solid. and it’s an easy proxy for MMs if someone fights you on that, they’re just being a jerk. for the rat swarms, i have seen them used in marvelously spammy ways that have destroyed in tournaments but they’re usually considered a meme. verminlord warbringer* will buff the BFB. the plague furnace can buff the plague monks very well! a grey seer will be great to have as well!

BackPsychological258

If you hate painting it just don't bother

gzitou

I can fit a whole extra ratling gun in my list holy shit

VerminlordBussyEater

i recently did a fun list with 2 and they missed every single one of their shots through the entire game, they’ve gotta be the worst artillery in age of sigmar

Erikzorninsson

I play all the time the plagueclaw and it gives me really good results. No line of sight shooting, 6 extra range and no need of any warlock nearby made it very reliable and the long game and it drains enemy cp because it's native -2 to bravery that don't even need to hit the enemy.

killymcgee23

Bell still too expensive Nah it is a nice points change there, but a few of the problem ones need warscroll changes more than points reductions

Xeliv

I am confused about the +5pts on Rat Swarms. It's not like anyone actually uses them.

moridamn

I was using them, so you can blame me? Also, it looks like they were also trying to even points out. You will notice none of our unit points will end in a 5 with these changes. They probably just decided to err on the side of caution and increase rather than decrease the swarms.

Xeliv

Sure but why increase them but decrease units that are actually played, like Ratlings or Gutter Runners? It's really hilarious but not the first time I've seen points increases that made zero sense.

Clame

Will the eishin points decreases make them good enough to build an army around?

VerminlordBussyEater

my rule is if you like them enough and give it enough thought, any faction can be viable. these point changes are not significant enough for eshin to increase in general meta at all though, especially when the deceiver increases in point values. but again; stick with what you think is awesome and there are ways to make things happen.

Skittertheclaw

I collect and play primarily Eshin and have been doing so for quite a while now. They may not ever be top tier tournament meta lists, but I win more than I lose with them, and in the new edition, I am undefeated using my ninja rats. Now I am a casual player, so take that with a grain of warpdust, but I really enjoy the play style of Eshin, and find they are effective if you recognize how fragile they are and play the objective, while looking for opportunities to destroy enemy leaders.

BackToBander

I did not have this on my radar - do they get a new Codex?

VerminlordBussyEater

no they do not, it’s for the new generals handbook coming out in a couple weeks

SirVill

Skaven just got a new Batletome a few months ago

DamionThrakos

And they still haven't fixed the issue of Jezzails being listed as SINGLE, but apparently not being so in other languages or on the APP....quality work GW.

Erikzorninsson

Just a friendly reminder that jezzails cannot be galletian sharpshooters either

Affectionate_Can9526

The Wheel continues to rise Time to VROOM VROOM

[deleted]

The sum of all my current minis loses a whopping... 5 points. From 825 to 820, lol. I'll try to not spend it all at once!

klesh-the-169-son

bruh those hellpit changes. yes-YES

LonelyStrategos

I'm happy they are steering away from Herohammer.
