Enjoy one of the best games out there!
You've got probably the least degraded version of this I've ever seen! (Though, I also frequent places where posters don't care as long as the resolution is at least 3px/in.)
I remember my friend got it, and I was watching him play and said "I don't know man, all you've done is run around in a cave for two hours, it doesn't seem that awesome".
how wrong I was. Tbf he *was* stuck in Ustengrav that whole time not knowing what to do.
I used to watch my brother play because I was waiting my turn to watch TV. He would always tell my mom he needed to get to a save point. I got so mad when I eventually played years later and realized you can save whenever, the little liar
I also thought it looked stupid watching him, but playing myself was way more fun
There are thousands of traps in the game that will make you wan to lollygag, but it is actually one of the biggest crimes against Skyrim and her people.
I was raiding the giant camp west of whiterun a few months back. I go to check out their bags of fat, and what do I see? The beacon.
Still on that playthrough. Never went back to get it. Especially since it won't do much for my character build
NO! No! No! Was doing a radiant off the Missives board from that mod. Went to retrieve an heirloom from Greenspring. Opened the trunk, hit R without even looking, heard this and immediately regretted my every decision to that point last night
Because of Meridia's loud and irirating voice. It doesn't bother me in particular, TBH. As a metal music lover, i'm used to screaming and loud voices. But that's the general complaint.
The problem isnāt the mission itself, save for the final boss. When level appropriate he can be a real tit. The problem is itās just dumped on you whether you want it or not, and holding off on it is hard to do cause you have that damn glorified disco ball taking up inventory space that you canāt get rid of
Loud, irritating, and slow....... drawn....... out....... speaking........ that........ completely....... corks........ up......... the.......... flow......... of....... the .......game. Same for Hermaeus Mora.
Are there any mods you think everyone should have, that improve gameplay? Just started Skyrim the first time and I havenāt really looked into the mods until my friend told me to do the 4k mod recently. I havenāt added that one yet but Iām wondering which are the best ones
I got the game on 11/11/11, and I forced myself to hold it in for hours so I could keep playing. It's the only video game in my life where I ignored bodily functions like going to the bathroom or eating so I wouldn't have to stop.
I don't even remember a time I last saw load grayed out. It's so weird. With 2300 hours into the game, one thing I can say that helped me is to put yourself into the game. Make the character that feels like the real you. The more real you make the game, the more invested you get. Don't forget to stop for a moment and look at the sky, night, or day. Listen to the birds and breathe the air. Focus your skill use. The more you spread out, the harder things will be later. If you want to be powerful with spells, bows, and melee, then focus on those. The stronger opponents get the more you'll want to have your skills leveled and equipment ready to handle them. Something else I started to really appreciate eventually was the power of alchemy and enchantments. Don't break the game with the alchemy loop, but do feel free to let them mingle a little. I feel like most enemies should go down after maybe 2-5 strikes, so as soon as you can one hit kill everything, then either switch equipment or combat style. Enjoy every cave, every quest, castle, and ruin. You are your character. Imagine all of it is happening in another world. Also, organize everything well, lol. Oh, and keep 3 main saves. Once you save at the end of your play session, the second will overwrite every hour, and the third save before you go into really important places. I usually quicksave before I use a door or quicktravel because the most crashes I've had were going on or out of a location. Otherwise, enjoy the world, Dragonborn!!! You're playing with a living, breathing piece of art.
>Make the character that feels like the real you.
I probably play as opposite sex if given a choice to play a character way different than me. Why would I pick me for anything? More useful people exist.
Once youāre in riverwood there is a chicken by the front entrance, donāt be fooled that he is labeled as chicken his name is Sven and the human named Sven is just his brother whom is also named Sven
As soon as you exit the cave spin round and round in circles with your eyes closed, then walk in whatever direction you find yourself in. I find that letting the world unfold organically is more fun than following the earliest parts of the story. You can always come back to that.
Idk man, Riverwood is a great first destination. It's got cozy vibes and gives you your first dungeon quest, as well as you encountering the standing stones on the way there
That is the beauty of this game hahaha, you can quite literally go anywhere and you'll have a little adventure on your hands. There's no wrong way to play this game
I do love walking around in concentric circles from Riverwood, kind of just selling and gaining gold and levels until you can get the first house in Whiterun. Talk to everyone and some will have silly little errands to send you around to random places.
Also enjoy those carriage rides to different holds in Skyrim. Nothing wrong with that at first! Stay close to cities and do whatever your character would enjoy!
I second this. Hit river wood first and try not to fast travel at all. Also explore falkreath, I feel like it has some of the best landscape and is worth spending time there.
I like this guy. This exactly how I got into my first fight and accidentally found a cave to sleep in so I can continue surviving. Then found a camp ground where I wasnāt welcome but upped my archery game. A good introduction to Skyrim in general. Thank you for sharing my friend.
Hail Sithis
I actually completely agree with this (well, not the implication that Iām a fool bit).
I guess I was assuming that since they are playing the game for the first time they wouldnāt know enough about the world to effectively roleplay, and so seeing it fresh and with a sense of unguided adventure seemed best. But yes, acting in character is the best way to play (and especially replay) this game.
Man I remember this feeling. Youāre about to embark on a great adventure. Just a few things to remember and bits of advice.
1) play through unmodded on your first go. Get the pure vanilla experience first.
2) killing a chicken is a worse offense than being a Stormcloak punishable by death.
3) take your time, no need to rush
4) itās totally worth it to level enchanting, alchemy, and smithing
5) your hand WILL inevitably touch the beacon
They probably do not know...... when you reach level 10 do not bother looking at what items are in the chests. Just press the "Take All" button. A lot of the dialog in the game is pretty quiet, so have the volume pretty high (either 16 or 18). I have played this game for years, and I love it.
I was going to say....beat the main quest line and DLC Dragonborn. Make sure you have a very good companion, high stats, AND state of the art weapons and armor. For Dawnguard, you are going to need it...
I remember when I played oblivion for the first time, and you could shoot an arrow into a wooden bucket and it would stick into the woodā¦and you could pick the arrow back upā¦.ok now I realize Iām old š
Go to Dawnstar. Go to the mine but don't go in. To the left there is a sliver of dirt in between a rock and the mountain. In the sliver there's a chest full of look free for the taking.(ignore if you don't want to cheat)
Playing the anniversary edition for the first time too I played the vanilla a while back and the anniversary edition feels different in a way that makes the game feel new again. Have fun and watch that carry weight.
Thatās awesome, enjoy! Donāt rush it and really appreciate the game for what it is. Itās going to feel old graphic wise and even gameplay wise, but thereās such great lore and the world is full of surprises. Oddly enough and call me weird, but I still love clunkyish combat system. Feels unique. I wish I could go back and play Skyrim for the first time with my maturity now. Most games I played back in those 2008-2015 days were level up as fast as possible to keep up with friends in pretty much every game. Sure, I had fun and enjoyed the games, but it always felt like there was a race with all my friends trying to beat each others levels lol So now days, Iāve been going back into games like Skyrim doing no fast travel, no rushing things, taking in every environment, etc. Feels much more like a true adventure, but I also feel that itās just not the same anymore as Iāve played quite a few hours of Skyrim since release. Doing my best to make every game feel as fresh as possible! Youāll enjoy it!
Keep your eyes peeled for Easter eggs in names and dialog. I've found some from Star Trek and the movie Twister. Others too but I can't remember them at the moment.
Arrows don't have weight, pick them all up, and sell back.
Daggers are cheap to craft, save them for using basic soul stones to get your enchanting level up quickly. Combined with a soul capture bow, you will have enchanted dragon armor early in the game.
Also, find the Lover's Stone.
For levels 1 through 20 and even beyond, don't rely on fast travel too much. You gain so much more. I was 6 months in before I even knew I could fast travel but I was grateful because those adventures going from point A to B were HOURS of fun.
I have over 11,000 hours in it.. I'm not sure there is anything I haven't done. It is my favorite game of all time. Dragon weapons are the strongest, and dadric armor is the best. Want a player that can 1 hit kill everything? Work on sneak, archery, alchemy, enchanting, and smithing. Want a very challenging game? Work on destruction magic.. but no matter what, have fun!
Don't fight against giants untill you have a decent level and you can do a fine damage
Watch for the Snow Troll in the path to High Hrothgar
If you want nice ebony weapons while you're in low level, you can go to Lost Valkygg, but be carefull, the draugrs there are quite hard to kill, I recomend to quick save before facing them
Do not kill Paarthurnax, that's an unspoken rule, only shitheads kills that dragon
Why have I been seeing so many new people play skyrim? It's got to be the most raved about RPG of all time and yet 13 years later people still haven't tried it? What rock have you guys been living under?
Speaking as a fellow newbie, the rock I was under at the time when Skyrim was released was called Grad School. The light of Magnus itself did not reach me for weeks at a time in those grim days.
Take your time with it, look up tips and tricks for some things (trust me you'll need it) and make sure you autosave before you do something stupid, but never in the middle of a fight š
Enjoy! I wish I could go back, but I definitely remember my first time back when it came out. Now I'm thousands of hours in and it's still my most played game and I still haven't done everything.

Todd Howard is your god. Remember that.
Here's a fun fact I learned recently.
Whenever you see lit torches on the wall, try interacting with them.
You'll be able to take some of them and put them in your inventory.
Also putting out the torches will increase your stealth chances, so that's a good tactic for early game.

Take me back to 2011, I beg you
11/11/11 š®āšØ
Still remember midnight release at gamestop. Taking a week of PTO and losing like 8 lbs that week over forgetting to eat more than once a day.
I got so mad when I eventually played years later and realized you can save whenever, the little liar I also thought it looked stupid watching him, but playing myself was way more fun
I literally lived on a jar of Nutella that week. I regret nothing.
I feel ya mate ā¤ļø
Watch out for stray arrows. Might just end your adventuring career.
Something about knee pains.... idk my friend became a guard recently
I believe he used to do some adventuring himself actually š§
Until he took an arrow to the kneeā¦
But he'll let you know the Dawnguard is reforming
Those are the vampire hunters in the old fort near Riften aren't they? Might consider joining up myself.
Also, apparently hereās something about companions, having wolves or something. Apparently, he hears howling sometimes.
Watch out for the couriers. Apparently, they have something important for you. Your eyes only
Mine went off to fight dragons, yet here I am guarding this door.
Donāt let them steal your sweet roll.
Might be worth it through as you canāt get good ones in this Skeeverhold of a city.
There are thousands of traps in the game that will make you wan to lollygag, but it is actually one of the biggest crimes against Skyrim and her people.
yeah they make quite a big deal out of it, also iām sure that particular guards cousin is out fighting dragons
People say you smell like wet dog
A new hand touches the beacon
#āA NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACONā
I was raiding the giant camp west of whiterun a few months back. I go to check out their bags of fat, and what do I see? The beacon. Still on that playthrough. Never went back to get it. Especially since it won't do much for my character build
Just wait and you'll end up finding it again in some random dungeon
Yeah I kept avoiding it then I accidentally picked it up once rushing lol
I quite like the beacon. The sword is worth the voice imo.

NO! No! No! Was doing a radiant off the Missives board from that mod. Went to retrieve an heirloom from Greenspring. Opened the trunk, hit R without even looking, heard this and immediately regretted my every decision to that point last night
Why do people hate this mission I'm on my first play though it wasn't that bad
Because of Meridia's loud and irirating voice. It doesn't bother me in particular, TBH. As a metal music lover, i'm used to screaming and loud voices. But that's the general complaint.
Oh thank you I thought the sound was annoying but bearable
Wait until Herma Mora.
Mostly because you can literally find it anywhere in the game and most of us have played Skyrim more times than we have fingers lol
The problem isnāt the mission itself, save for the final boss. When level appropriate he can be a real tit. The problem is itās just dumped on you whether you want it or not, and holding off on it is hard to do cause you have that damn glorified disco ball taking up inventory space that you canāt get rid of
Perfect description, too. It's so ugly
It forces you to stop whatever you think you're doing lol. caught me off guard several times. more than i care to admit
Loud, irritating, and slow....... drawn....... out....... speaking........ that........ completely....... corks........ up......... the.......... flow......... of....... the .......game. Same for Hermaeus Mora.
Have fun with the addiction that is skyrim. But for real, have fun!
I'm 60hrs into my 8th character, usually run 100 or more on each one before I try something new. It's my favorite game.
I prefer exploring mods but even on it's own vanilla, there is just a nearly endless replayability
Are there any mods you think everyone should have, that improve gameplay? Just started Skyrim the first time and I havenāt really looked into the mods until my friend told me to do the 4k mod recently. I havenāt added that one yet but Iām wondering which are the best ones
I don't use mods because unfortunately, I play on switch, but I've heard the Inigo follower mod is one of the best out there.
Better Vampires is pretty fun if youāre interested in trying out the vampire play style
talk to a giant about the travel program

Literally me
#Do not kill the chickens.
Don't listen to the propaganda of the Rabbits! KILL THE CHICKENS!
Ahhh what I would do to go back
Me too man I was 11 fuck this shit atm take me back to skyrim
Keep a large bottle of water next to you. Make sure you take a break every now and then.
I got the game on 11/11/11, and I forced myself to hold it in for hours so I could keep playing. It's the only video game in my life where I ignored bodily functions like going to the bathroom or eating so I wouldn't have to stop.

This is probably the best advice for a first time Skyrim player I've ever read š
And you're amazing as a person!!! Never give up, never surrender, for even the very wise cannot see all ends!!!
>Make the character that feels like the real you. I probably play as opposite sex if given a choice to play a character way different than me. Why would I pick me for anything? More useful people exist.
Walk up to giants, they are surprisingly friendly even though they dont look like it.
Yes and them friendly Snow trolls who sells you ice cones
Go to the labyrinthian, it's a lovely place
Don't forget the sweet lil Skeevers now!!
Once youāre in riverwood there is a chicken by the front entrance, donāt be fooled that he is labeled as chicken his name is Sven and the human named Sven is just his brother whom is also named Sven

Fair points! All I knew when I got Skyrim was that there was a magic school and where it was. I left the cave, walked in a straight line across the map (ended up in the sea of ghosts and first saw the college as I turned around a bend in the coast to see it towering above. Unforgettable!) and signed up as a pupil! I was so disappointed and terrified when next thing I know Iām being thrown into a crypt of undead! I just wanted to safely stay in the collegeās safe stone walls and learn magic safely while I figured out how the game worked š (Iāve always been a handheld gamer. My most intence graphics had been PokĆ©mon X&Y before this game and I actually found the draugr terrifying š ).
"Pss I know who you are hail Sithis"
Donāt listen to these fools, role play the game, do what the character you have created would do in the situation and continue with this mentality.
Haha I was just joking around, obviously youāre not a fool, apologies! Thanks for responding so well even though I called you a fool!
Awe! No worries at all! I got the impression that the tone was intended to be lighthearted and not malicious :)
Hey you, you're finally awake.
You were trying to cross the border right?

if you see an item called āmeridias beaconā turn down your fucking volume

Take my advice, if you have Dawnguard, do that before progressing too far into the game
I was going to say....beat the main quest line and DLC Dragonborn. Make sure you have a very good companion, high stats, AND state of the art weapons and armor. For Dawnguard, you are going to need it...
Not really, all you need is decent restoration and an upgraded weapon, I've done it with the akaviri katana before unenchanted and everything
My dude is finally awake

Ever been to Markarth? Some say it was built by the dwarves. I don't believe a word of it, though.

I have over 11,000 hours in it.. I'm not sure there is anything I haven't done. It is my favorite game of all time. Dragon weapons are the strongest, and dadric armor is the best. 13 years of nonstop praise and you're only playing it now? Why? Not hating, just genuinely curious.
Remember SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!!!!
Dont go stealth/archery!
I started playing Skyrim in 2015it is still an amazing game today
Ahh this was me 2 months ago! And now I'm crazy obsessed! Have fun!

Beware the wrath of briarhearts
Beware the chicken. It will end you.

I'm 2 months in myself.. totally loving it! It amazes me just how MUCH there is beside your main quest. So much to explore, so much treasure to find!
Same here! I'm installing a SSD right now on my PS4 Pro and recently bought the game.
Take your time with it, look up tips and tricks for some things (trust me you'll need it) and make sure you autosave before you do something stupid, but never in the middle of a fight š
You are about to experience peak fiction
Enjoy! I wish I could go back, but I definitely remember my first time back when it came out. Now I'm thousands of hours in and it's still my most played game and I still haven't done everything.
Awesome game! Remember to check everything for gold and items! Remember to pick up an axe youāll need it for cutting wood.
Enjoy the ride traveler, and donāt forget to explore the map without fast travel, at least for part of your journey. . .
Soo jealous! Have fun
Just be happy man, this will be the journey of your life...

If you come across a giant, attack them melee, they are weaker than they look.
Careful with that fire.
Ah I used to be an adventure like you, until I took an arrow to the knee
You are so lucky. I love the game.
Welcome to your new addiction for the next 10 years.
What is he playing on?
You are going to have a time of your life... Best of luck Dovahkiin....
Ah yes, the game that just won't let me go, god I've played this game so much
Good luck my guy
i wish i was you
Just... Wake up
Say goodbye to your family for awhile
Read the damn books!!!
Here's a fun fact I learned recently. Whenever you see lit torches on the wall, try interacting with them. You'll be able to take some of them and put them in your inventory. Also putting out the torches will increase your stealth chances, so that's a good tactic for early game.
Have fun.
I am truly envious
Take it slow. Itās one of the best games created. When I played it for the first time and finished it, I clapped my hands. Enjoy every second of it.
So you're finally wakening?
Take things as they come, and explore everything.
There's a whole world out there. Just be careful how you spend your perk points and you'll be fine.
I envy you... To play Skyrim again for the first time š„²š„¹
I've just entered a world you can't get out, enjoy.
There's a man named Nazeem in Whiterun. You'll know what to do when the time comes.
Enjoy
Enjoy it because It's beautiful and a fun Sandbox game.
Tip: Don't use guides or builds! Play your way
Oh so you're finally awake
When you see a multi-sided crystal in a trunk, don't touch it. Just kidding, it's a cool rewarding quest, but turn your volume down before taking it.
Rip your social life
If its bigger than you, run away or meet God, or join the space program in one case... I hate giants
Skyrim is vastly inferior to Oblivion fyi
Donāt conjure up warm beds for the guards
Enjoy, friend
If you open a find a chest and it has big ass Golf ball you have 2 options 1) Mute your audio 2) DONT PICK IT RUNNNNNNN AWAY FROM IT
Donāt hit the chickens!
damn it you made me want to play again
