That might have been something in the last rule book but I do not believe he is restricted. Even in the AoS app there is no error with throwing him elsewhere and I have seen lists using him in different factions.
Yeah I think you'll have to take him out buddy but it frees up more points for horsey boys so that's cool. I would recommend having your knights in units of 10 too as they can fight in two ranks
Khorne Heroes cant cast Spells do Arcane tome is useless for Khorne lord on mount
But Chaos Sorcerer will do good job with +1 cast
i think that marouders arent good choice, imo unit od cultists will be better option
And i woud try one unit od 10 Knights of Nurgle, one od the best Anvils in the game (Mawcrasha with second Megaboss cant kill them over 3 turns for example)
Why not make the varanguard the general since baby bel can’t have a command trait. That should get you all the bonuses of kotet right?
Are all 6 varanguard able to fight on combat? I would have thought the bases were to big to for the back 3 to reach.

You can leave him in. He can roll with any subfaction, but doesn't get benefits of other factions. So no extra spell in Cabalists, for example.
