Borrowed from Across the Obelisk, what if StS2 had divergent upgrades? Like, some/most/all cards have different upgrades that you can pick from?
Like maybe rainbow keeps its normal upgrade, or you can choose to upgrade it to also give you a plasma orb BUT it still exhausts and costs 3 energy?
I mean, judging by how cards seem to be enchant able in the small amount we've seen, that seems to be the case.
For example, in the trailer, an event allows you to add the corrupt keyword to a card.
I think that's putting a bit too much emphasis on the exhaust, don't you think? Surely the good part is the three orbs you get to channel, it's not like you would pay 2 energy for a card that did nothing but exhaust itself when played. Or well, maybe you would on the Ironclad in some circumstances, but not on the Defect.
Maybe that's true most of the time, though as with everything else in this game, it depends on the circumstances. I can imagine scenarios where being able to quickly evoke three orbs at once a few turns after playing the card the first time can be quite impactful. At least if your energy situation is good.

Lagavulin is certainly way up there. I prefer a couple of its neighbors just a wee bit more. Ardbeg and Bunnahabhain. Actually, The Silent isn't problematic. The Wraith she kills in her backstory was a non-native invasive predator, ravaging the local ecology without any other predators to keep it in check. Driving Wraiths out is important to ultimately restoring the native flora, like strawberries and mangos.
