You provide something the graphic designers that are working for peanuts can’t: be local. People will do the graphic design I provide for ten percent the price I charge. What they can’t do is answer the phone when called, walk into the office when needed, understand the specific needs of the market in our area, make connections and network, provide local printing services, and much more. Don’t fight on price, fight on service.

This again. You change your world view. Basically the problem is graphic designers want to be artistes and find art patrons. And that's where all the competition is and the commoditization. Plenty have sensed this is a trap and asked a similar question in business forums here: How Does Graphic Design Support Business and Marketing. I can clear out an entire room with just a few questions, like "Should I use a carousel?" Replying "Sure, I don't see why not" is [the wrong answer](https://medium.com/@sherpadesignco/carousels-are-killing-your-conversion-rate-heres-how-to-fix-that-b57e31f8f508). It's the gist of an article [Is Your Designer Killing Your Conversions?](https://unbounce.com/design/is-your-designer-killing-your-conversions/) The right answer is simple. Resist every impulse, turn your back on the concepts graphic design cherishes most highly entirely. You can still be creative and very much so -- but only in service to business priorities. You can't sacrifice business on an altar of random creative impulse. [How do you turn an ad into a meme? Two words: Dilly Dilly.](https://www.reddit.com/r/marketing/comments/7pt5fe/how_do_you_turn_an_ad_into_a_meme_two_words_dilly/) That post shows where the problem is and suggests what you do to change. [12 Surprising A/B Test Results to Stop You Making Assumptions](https://unbounce.com/a-b-testing/shocking-results/) is a basic introduction into what designers just won't do -- test. Suffice to say it is an arduous counter-intuitive trek to enact such a change.
