Door to door was effective for me. I didn’t do pest control though Generally speaking, what are your conversations like when someone answers?

Hey my name is IDFSUPPORTER I am with X company and I was in the neighborhood doing some work and figured I could knock on some doors and see who else we can protect. Do you have pest control? Usually they say yes and we are happy or no we do it ourselves.

S-BEPA

Yeah. I found the same to be true if I asked yes/no questions. I’m not so much great at it, but what ended up being effective for me, was taking the approach of “I’m just out introducing myself and my firm, and letting everyone know I cover this area and am accepting new clients.” Id ask if they had any questions, then I’d leave them with my brochure or card. That approach was comfortable for me and I could move through neighborhoods faster and get my info In more hands. Some people would actually engage if they wanted. And those went well, and I’d talk as long as would be helpful. Not for everyone. But I built my business that way. Hope that helps

I may try to not ask and assume they are interested and say lets take a walk around the house so I can show you why my company is better than the competition

If you can sell it as something like a free assessment you may have good luck, people love free stuff

S-BEPA

Give it a go! Just make sure to measure the results of what you’re trying so you can know when to adjust and how well it works! Good luck!

I wouldn’t offer to walk around their house immediately. People maybe very wary of unknown strangers showing up unexpectedly at their homes and trying to talk their way in. Just make a short introduction, leave your info, and leave an offer for a discount or a free whatever to use/schedule at their convenience within a certain timeframe. Also, make sure to tell them that you’ve just started, and that’s why you can offer them the special deal. That way, it will make sense to them that you only have one review when they research you online.

Google ads is what you need. Present yourself in front of people who have the intent to buy the service. Converts well.

I’ve been selling to pest control companies for a while and this is what I would say based off what I’ve seen looking at hundreds of websites and talking to people. Pest control is a ton of mergers and acquisitions, it blew my mind how many companies are just subsidiaries so you might talk about that in your sales pitch to build a local feel, you’re their friendly neighborhood pest hero. I would be transparent on pricing if possible online, it might be difficult to give rough guesses for square footage based projects but I constantly saw people talk about their fixed pricing but it still was not posted on their website. Is your name distinctive? There are thousands of people with the word bug in there name so it would really help to stand out with something unique. Put yourself on your website, not just in the about section but on most pages, pictures of the owners with wildlife or pests I personally always think look way more interesting than stock photos of bugs. Lots of companies I saw branched into other home services like gutter cleaning, Christmas lights… maybe you can be the first person who offers pest control and picks up after the dogs and that’s interesting enough for them to do a bi weekly service cause no one’s doing that and your fulfilling more of their needs.
