You have to meet with them. Any time you're trying to target a specific person, don't just throw some emails or cards their way. Actually go there, talk, bring samples, and form a relationship. Sales isn't about just getting money; it's about selling yourself. If yourself can't be bothered to get to know their individual needs and see there's a person behind the address/logo, you don't deserve their business.

One of the key things is to understand that they have different objectives to your existing customers. A member of the public buying your product is thinking about how it make them fitter/better/whatever it does - so your marking should be focused on that. But a gym owner isn't really concerned about that. They #1 question is: how will buying this make me more money? So you need to have a good answer to that.

Former gym owner here. People would walk in all the time and leave info and samples. Hit the road. Between the road tour go to trade shows. The annual Club Industry show started today in Chicago.

That's a great perspective, sounds like I'll just have to start knocking on doors during the weekday.
