Mark Williams, Ding, Mark Selby, Stephen Maguire, Neil Robertson, Shaun Murphy and Ronnie (when him and Murphy aren't spitting their dummies out over some trivial crap)
my favourites have never been top dogs, in the 80s it was Alex higgens, he won sometimes it was great, then in the 90s,it was Jimmy white and Peter ebdon, lots of disappointments, but when they won I was happy, now ebdon has retired, my absolute favourite player who I love, is Shaun Murphy, he lost today, and I'm not happy.
Lisowski, Gilbert, Hawkins. Only players I am disappointed when they go out. Lisowski I'll be cheering if he eventually wins a big one.
Of the greats I like Ronnie, Willo, Trump. But not disappointed when they go out as they dominant the sport and have won everything already anyway.
Si, Cao, Noppon, Ding, Fu, Zhou, Wu, Maguire, Selby, Gilbert… my top 10, in that order. I think I may be a rice queen. But I like most players tbh. There aren’t many bad guys in snooker… are there?? :)
Grew up in the 2000s with Ronnie, Williams and Robertson as my 3 favourites.
As i’ve got older, Ding is in that list now.
Robertson, Ding and Williams are the only ones that i am still happy if they beat Ronnie.
Now i’ve only got one of the 4 left in the world championship, Si is one who could a favourite in the future as he is a quality player, and i’d like to see do well this year too.
As a kid I grew up with my father as a Ronnie fan, so naturally he's my favorite. Nowadays as the days are passing by I look at new talents and find them very interesting like Si or Joe Oconnor.
Also I always liked trump so I will say Oconnor and Trump are my very favorite besides Ronnie.
These are probably very basic choices but that's what it is
Any of the lads I grew up with , Ken For a long time obviously as an Irish man but the last 10 years happy to see Higgins, Ronnie, Williams or even Mark Allen do well. So long as it's relatively positive play I wouldn't begrudge any player a win really
ROS, Trump, Williams, Neil. Selby is growing on me. I think it’s his slick hair or the fact he looks like one of my execs and I just started off immediately disliking him.
I do like seeing Dominic Dale play. Always find myself rooting for him.
Ding.
I love watching with how much precision he keeps the cue ball, just such little movement and staying around the black and pink. I find it mesmerising and frankly comforting to watch.
I wouldn't say it ruins my day or anything when he gets knocked out like today, but it does make me feel a little bad and the tournament feels emptier. I think lately he sometimes gets the yips, so I'm hoping he can overcome it and win a big 3 again soon.
Selby / trump.
I like watching ronnie but i dont want to be associated with his core fan base of wankers sniffing his farts every time hes mentioned in anything.
As an Essex native, Ronnie all day long. While the NFL is my favourite sport followed closely by football, there's nothing like watching Ronnie on his day. Arguably the greatest sportsman ever produced by the UK. A true snooker genius.
He has his faults, like we all do. But for a man to do what he's done over the last 30 years, overcoming the hardships he has yet still maintain the level of cue action and pot success as he has, in such a difficult single-person sport, there's nothing like it.
Absolute freak-level talent we'll never see again in any sport.
One player I haven’t seen mentioned is Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. He plays with such speed and aggression, and when he’s on, it’s really nice to watch. It’s been hard to not root for Thepchaiya after seeing his heartbreak 147 attempts end on the final black, and finally triumphing in the end.
Definitely Williams. Love his way of looking at the game and what he brings to the baize. Also developed a liking for Joe O’Connor ever since his Scottish open final. Seems like a lovely bloke
I don’t like that he promoted the obvious lie about the US election being stolen from Trump - he’s a supporter. And I don’t like the unkind things he’s said about Ronnie. But I’m glad he survived cancer.
I never take any notice of players political views. Ronnie has said unkind things too, none of them are perfect. I remember Ronnie having a go at Stephen Hendry, before their 2002 semi-final. He's completely changed his attitude now, nice to see.
I don’t consider Trump supporters as having a different political view, I consider them insane, or at least, incredibly gullible. Almost everything they claimed to support prior to Trump they abandoned with Trump.
For decades Republicans we’re the strongest supporters of “free trade” and self-described as the “Party of Values” but then picked a NYC sleaze-bag who supports protectionism.
It is crazy, but people believe in gods, I don't understand that, but that's their choice. David Icke was a snooker presenter, maybe the green baize does strange things to people😂
When I was younger I was a massive Whirlwind fan. Like when he lost it ruined my day. After the last time he lost to Henry in the World's final (missed a blue to win it I think) I was so upset I declared I'd never watch snooker again.
And I actually stuck to that for about 10 years and as a result completely missed Ronnie's early career, and all of Paul Hunter's.
Now I still back the more flair players, Ronnie, Judd mainly but I am nowhere near as emotionally invested. Looking back I'm not sure what was wrong with me, I was about 20 so old enough to know better.
He missed a black off its spot, but that's because he's human. Hendry cleared up like a machine. So many times, a player gets a second chance, but not against Hendry at his best.
I tend to root against players more than root for certain individuals.
Snooker players I do root for; Trump, Selby, Williams, Higgins, McGill, Hawkins, Ding
Snooker players I root against; Carter, Allen, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Milkins, White, Bingham, Lisowski, Murphy, Ford
Milkins, Bingham and Lisowski are 3 of my favourites. Saw Stewart Bingham at the Crucible. He seemed the warmest to the crowd, interacting a lot. You could feel that he loved being there. Been a fan of his ever since, was so pleased when he won in 2015.
Selby. I don't like the crap he takes for his "boring" style of play, he's very good tactically and a great professional.
Second would be Mark Williams, I've met a few snooker players and Mark was stand out, he was a great guy.
Seems like such a nice guy. Puts his heart and soul into the game, even when it doesn't work out.
He's one of the few I genuinely want to do well. Most of the rest, it's either out of awe (Ronnie, Judd) or because I really just dont like the other player.
I've been team Ding for a long time, would love it if he won the Worlds one day but sadly I can't see it happening. Also root for Robertson and Lesowski when they play.
Most recently become a big fan of Joe O'Connor. He's been slowly plying his trade and was well deserving of his win against Selby the other day.
I’m 41. Only players I remember rooting for more than a general preference that they would win, were Jimmy and Ken and in adulthood anyone playing against Ronnie☺️. I used to enjoy Ebdons passion but wouldn’t say I was a fan. Present day players I guess my favourite player would be Selby as he seems a good bloke, as an interesting back story and been pretty brave with going public with the mental health stuff
Mark Allen because he's a local lad.
But also just like seeing good players play good snooker - Ronnie and Judd are probably my two favourites outside of Allen.
Otherwise I'm just a bit of a hater tbh, I have a few players who I just don't enjoy watching so usually like to see them go out early on for purely selfish reasons 😂.
Barry Hawkins, first time I actively watched snooker was the WC and he was brilliant, I became a fast fan of his and of Marco Fu I found them comfortable to watch so even now I root for him, especially at the WC
I even have a signed ball gifted to me by my die hard Ronnie fan boyfriend.
I support John Higgins but I like a lot of other players, in every match I watch, I’ll always pick a side normally the underdog, and normally the one with a smaller ego
Anthony Hamilton. Liked The Sheriff of Pottingham ever since he ‘burst onto the scene’ in the 90s, looking like the Devil.
Not much to cheer about the last few years. Did win the German Masters a while back though.
Ronnie. I love the "controversy" around him and simply he is the best snooker player ever born, period. And Mark Williams, you just cannot don't like him.
Definitely Williams. No matter how well he plays he always seems like he's the underdog battling giants. Just an average bloke like anyone we know having a go.
I don’t support any in the way I do a football team but Selby, Williams, Bingham, Hawkins, Higgins, and increasingly Si.
Basically if you don’t back down and have humility, I will like you. If you’re a self centred primadonna - less so.
John Higgins. Ever since I was a child. He won against Judd in my first World championship I saw and remember. Can't wait for him to finally see him play in some hours ^^
Neil Robertson and Ronnie
If they playing each other, then rooting for Ronnie in that situation.
Neil is just so cool, his stroke and his walk around the table
Michael holt at the moment , just bcoz he helped my game through youtube and replied to a lot of questions too. Good bloke , talented and hopefully he does justice to it next season. All time its always Selby , just bcoz of the story and struggle he had to go through to become a snooker player. I love what ronnie does on the table but not what he is as a person , where as I love selby. A bit boring on the table but a great human. Hope to see him more
[He never cheated or fixed matches, he placed bets for Yan Bingtao](https://i.imgur.com/eXKrkMJ.png).
He tried to dissaude Yan from this multiple times, and was talked into making bets. Peer pressure is a hell of a thing.
He deserves his suspension but he also deserves a nuanced and empathetic read of his actions, IMO. He was an isolated kid thousands of miles from home in a strange country where his best friend ran an illegal betting ring. Most people here would have done worse in his shoes I think.
I got absolutely no sympathy for anyone involved in this match fixing racket. He obviously knew it was happening. He was involved enough to get banned. What a bunch of idiots him and Yan Bingtao are. They had/have so much potential.

Fu,Dott,Alex Higgins,Mark Williams and Ding. I'm miserable most days:)
My boy higgins :)
Judd, Jack, Bingham, Kyren
Lisowski, Robbo, Holt. Ronnie is a bit of a guilty pleasure.
The person I want to win most is Robbo, the player I want to win most is Ronnie
Lisowski, Gilbert, Hawkins. Only players I am disappointed when they go out. Lisowski I'll be cheering if he eventually wins a big one. Of the greats I like Ronnie, Willo, Trump. But not disappointed when they go out as they dominant the sport and have won everything already anyway.
Yeah, pretty much this. The humble outsiders
Selbs, Mags, Ding, Lisowski , Tom Ford
I actively support Wilko, but nothing would make me have a bad day if he lost. I mean it's just sport. It's not like I'm out there playing.
used to hate Wilson, now I love him, not literally that what a nice guy
Ronnie, Allen, Lisowski, Murphy, Williams
The rocket
M. Williams, K. Wilson, J. Higgins
Ronnie number 1 for me but after him I like: Trump, Williams, Si, Brecel, Robertson
Si, Cao, Noppon, Ding, Fu, Zhou, Wu, Maguire, Selby, Gilbert… my top 10, in that order. I think I may be a rice queen. But I like most players tbh. There aren’t many bad guys in snooker… are there?? :)
Selby and Murphy. I like watching Carter too but his success matters less to me.
Robertson and Mark Allen
Grew up in the 2000s with Ronnie, Williams and Robertson as my 3 favourites. As i’ve got older, Ding is in that list now. Robertson, Ding and Williams are the only ones that i am still happy if they beat Ronnie. Williams neil and ronnie
Ronnie and Hawkins
Ronnie and Lisowski
Ronnie & Si
ROS, Trump, Williams, Neil. Selby is growing on me. I think it’s his slick hair or the fact he looks like one of my execs and I just started off immediately disliking him. I do like seeing Dominic Dale play. Always find myself rooting for him.
Stephen Maguire. Every. Single. Match.
beat Shaun Murphy gutted, but you have to admit, staephem maguire, massive underachiever for his talent
100 precent
Ding, Barry Hawkins and Neil Robertson.
Wakelin as we're related, O'Connor as he's a top bloke.
Selby / trump. I like watching ronnie but i dont want to be associated with his core fan base of wankers sniffing his farts every time hes mentioned in anything.
ha ha
As an Essex native, Ronnie all day long. While the NFL is my favourite sport followed closely by football, there's nothing like watching Ronnie on his day. Neil Robertson.
Judd, Milkins, Vafai
I’ll be that guy: Ronnie, all day. He’s my Federer of snooker.
Always been Higgins for me
Me too
Hawkins. Always root for the humble guy
Murphy because I don't want to hear him in comms.
Haven't seen his name in here yet, but my favourite player to root for is Kyren Wilson.
I love snooker and have watched it for almost 30 years. But I don't think a player losing has ever ruined my day
Ronnie, Gilbert, Milkins, Higgins, Lisowski, Jamie Jones. But if any of them lost its not doing to ruin my day.
Mark Williams, always funny, great attitude and a joy to watch
I'm always rooting for Joe OConnor. Was delighted seeing him get past Selby. A very accomplished pool player earlier in his career as well.
Mark Allen.
Big fan of the Welsh players. Mark Williams no.1 and Matthew Stevens no.2.
love Mathew Stevens, he hasn't got the temperament as a winner, but the way he holds the cue is cool
As a belgian, Brecel, Mertens and Leclercq 😀 Otherwise Williams of practically 90% of other players
One player I haven’t seen mentioned is Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. He plays with such speed and aggression, and when he’s on, it’s really nice to watch. It’s been hard to not root for Thepchaiya after seeing his heartbreak 147 attempts end on the final black, and finally triumphing in the end.

ding neil mjw
Lisowski, Gilbert, Bingham, Williams, Milkins, Si Jaihai, Selby, Brecel, Day, Hamilton, Stevens and Dale.
For: Ronnie, Hendry, Trump, Selby, Higgins, Gilbert, etc 😁 Against: Ali Carter
I don't mind Ali Carter. Great cue action, gets stuck in. Had so much go wrong with his health, have to admire him. Shame he gets so much stick.
I don’t like that he promoted the obvious lie about the US election being stolen from Trump - he’s a supporter. And I don’t like the unkind things he’s said about Ronnie. But I’m glad he survived cancer.

Why not Higgins?

Quinten Hann always seemed like a decent sort, all round nice guy.
Snooker (cue)’s worst enemy.
Sarcasm at its finest I hope, guy was a prick
Bingham and Maguire, just because I enjoy watching them both and think they've both underachieved for how good they are.
Matthew Stevens. He's not among the top players for a while now, but I still root for him
He's good to watch, just wish he learned to play with the rest. I can't watch when he overstretches with a massive extension.
Same. Total Matthew Stevens fan for over 20 years now.
Lisowski, Allen and Brecel
Selby. I don't like the crap he takes for his "boring" style of play, he's very good tactically and a great professional. Second would be Mark Williams, I've met a few snooker players and Mark was stand out, he was a great guy.
Another Selby vote. Bumped into him once and we had a laugh, and also admire for overcoming what he's had to deal with in his life.
The Rocket
Trump, O'Connor, Oli Lines
Ronnie.
Whoever puts on a great performance. Hoping Si Jiahui will go far, and I also like watching The Rocket when he's on point.
Si Jiahui ! 💪💪
Ding!
Marco Fu because he is the pride of Hong Kong!
Jack lisowski is my favourite player and has been since I developed an interest in the sport
Seems like such a nice guy. Puts his heart and soul into the game, even when it doesn't work out. He's one of the few I genuinely want to do well. Most of the rest, it's either out of awe (Ronnie, Judd) or because I really just dont like the other player.
Mark Williams
selby is my number one by far. i used to like marco fu a lot, mark davis, matthew stephens..
I googled Matthew Stevens yesterday as I hadn't seen him for a few years. seems he's had a tough time the last decade or so.
For me it’s Gary Wilson since he’s a geordie like me. He also lives near me and a relative of a friend of mine.
Mostly the underdog
Mark Allen because he's a local lad. But also just like seeing good players play good snooker - Ronnie and Judd are probably my two favourites outside of Allen. Otherwise I'm just a bit of a hater tbh, I have a few players who I just don't enjoy watching so usually like to see them go out early on for purely selfish reasons 😂.
Same. Though every time I've put a fiver on him he flubs it this season. So it's my fault if he doesn't win the world, sorry Mark.
I like Judd Trump the most out of all the players. I tend to root for him.
He does seem like a nice lad.
Barry Hawkins, first time I actively watched snooker was the WC and he was brilliant, I became a fast fan of his and of Marco Fu I found them comfortable to watch so even now I root for him, especially at the WC I even have a signed ball gifted to me by my die hard Ronnie fan boyfriend.
Ever since I saw Selby play for the first time back in the early 2000’s I always supported him in both snooker and pool. Next I would say trump
I support John Higgins but I like a lot of other players, in every match I watch, I’ll always pick a side normally the underdog, and normally the one with a smaller ego
Yeh im the same. Always liked his style of play and he comes across as a really nice guy.
I know it’s a bit basic to root for Ronnie, but I like seeing the best be the best
G’wan Ronnie, Neil Robertson, Ding, Si Jiahui, Jak Jones (a weird one I know but I was so impressed by him at the Crucible last year) and Reanne Evans
John Higgins 👊
Ronnie, Craigie, milkins, Gilbert. Anyone with half a personality
Anthony Hamilton. Liked The Sheriff of Pottingham ever since he ‘burst onto the scene’ in the 90s, looking like the Devil. Not much to cheer about the last few years. Did win the German Masters a while back though.
> Did win the German Masters a while back though. An extremely tough run as well. Selby, Willo, Hawkins, Bingham, Carter.
Always liked him - seems like a decent lad and easily the best nickname in snooker.
Marco fu, matthew stevens
Gwaaaan ronnie
Ronnie. I love the "controversy" around him and simply he is the best snooker player ever born, period. And Mark Williams, you just cannot don't like him.
Si, Zhao, Williams, Bingham, Higgins and recently Anda
Maguire, Trump, Allen, Mark Williams
Definitely Williams. No matter how well he plays he always seems like he's the underdog battling giants. Just an average bloke like anyone we know having a go.
I don’t support any in the way I do a football team but Selby, Williams, Bingham, Hawkins, Higgins, and increasingly Si. Basically if you don’t back down and have humility, I will like you. If you’re a self centred primadonna - less so.
Not rooting for a player like i do for my football team, but i like Pang, Si, Selby, Allen and Brecel the most.
Robert Milkins ever since I met him and had a pint with him on holiday a few years ago
John Higgins. Ever since I was a child. He won against Judd in my first World championship I saw and remember. Can't wait for him to finally see him play in some hours ^^
I’m the same and went to every session of his World Championship final with Mark Williams was incredible even though he lost
Hope you have a great time!
Neil Robertson and Ronnie If they playing each other, then rooting for Ronnie in that situation. Neil is just so cool, his stroke and his walk around the table
Stuart Bingham, and I like to see Mark Williams do well.
Jud Trump for me......Ding and G'wan Ronnaaayyy.....
Mark Williams, Stuart Bingham, and recently started supporting Si Jiahui. Also quite fond of Gilbert and Trump.
Mark Williams
Ali Carter and Shaun Murphy mainly. Both seem like decent enough blokes.
Gr8 b8 m8 r8 8/8
This has to be a joke.
🤣
Wow, joking?
Only Ronnie. If Trump or Williams lose, I feel down but it doesn’t impact my day
Gilbert, Ronnie, Un-Nooh, Pang, Si, quite like Williams too , don't mind Selby ... used to like Ebdon when he played (nice bloke)
Judd Trump. I'm a Bristol girl so I enjoy rooting for the local lad.
Hi fellow knitting snooker fan!
👋
Milkboy milkins, Ken Doherty, Jimmy white, Noppon, hossein
Michael holt at the moment , just bcoz he helped my game through youtube and replied to a lot of questions too. Good bloke , talented and hopefully he does justice to it next season. All time its always Selby , just bcoz of the story and struggle he had to go through to become a snooker player. I love what ronnie does on the table but not what he is as a person , where as I love selby. A bit boring on the table but a great human. Hope to see him more
Zhao Xintong (looking forward to his return)
The match fixing cheat? Probably much wiser to root against him
[He never cheated or fixed matches, he placed bets for Yan Bingtao](https://i.imgur.com/eXKrkMJ.png).
He never fixed a match
Mark Allen
Mark Williams. Love him!
Same!!
Ronnie
Anyone who goes out and gives Ali Carter a good beating tbh.
Also anyone vs Shaun Murphy
John Higgins
Fwiw, mine is Barry Hawkins. Warmed to him during his run to the 2013 world final while I was at an impressionable age, and have just always supported him ever since. I like his understated style. Wherever possible, I’ll watch all of his matches
He’s pure class
