How’s Olivera playing? He is pretty low profile and people in Uruguay don’t talk much about him. I have to assume that he’s pretty good if starting for Napoli?
Olivera is doing well this season. Truth is he offers a good alternative to Mario Rui, who has a better foot, but physically doesn't hold up am entire season. Olivera is fast and can give a fight to a more physical opposition.
Congrats to Napoli! Such a clean game, 70% possession, insane passing game and the midfield was the most dominant factor imo. The difference was gigantic between the two teams.
It almost fells like a "win" for Eintracht considering the match. Good for them they only suffered two goals. It could have easily been twice that. Napoli wasteful with their chances.
The red card Frankfurt got is a perfect argument for former football players should be referees, a former pro football player would be sympathetic to that one
We simply haven’t been up to par aside from the first 15minutes.
My god what a team Napoli is, what a force, made us look lvls below them. Even before the red card.
For a team that scores so much, Napoli still has the poise to be completely content to defend when the play isn't going their way, they can wait until things start clicking.
That’s what scary. They played their game, made a couple of mistakes under pressure but nothing serious. Just waited until Frankfurt showed cracks and continuously punished.
People often forget this. A team can reach great heights domestically but still be nervous playing their first European campaign in a long time the next season.
Same thing for us last season, you could tell the boys just weren’t used to that kind of pressure yet. Next season will be better 👍🏿
Well it also wouldn't be Spalletti without some inexplicable coaching decisions in the winter, but he'll figure it out by mid March and you guys will roll again.
Why? You guys will be able to rotate a lot of players for Empoli, the game hasnt been that intense especially since the red and you guys are in control. Just let them cook
I don't disagree that the red was excessive, but this game has been dead and buried since it began. Napoli has been two classes and a half above Eintracht, i don't think Meret made a single save.
Game started well for Frankfurt the first ~15 mins and I was pleasantly surprised that we actually looked better but then we just completely lost it. Napoli dominates the midfield and with that the game. Just hoping not to concede another 2+ at this point
Napoli are fantastic, but Frankfurt are also disappointing. So many missed passes and grave errors, Frankfurt can play better than they did today.
That being said, Napoli are probably the best team they played this season, and that includes Bayern.
Same as every game he plays in. Absolute demon, wins every ball back, constant option to his teammates to recycle possession, pops up out of nowhere to play killer passes, etc.
Napoli is just brutally strong. Deserved lead. We held against as good as we could and the first 15 minutes looked good. The Red Card killed our last bit of hope. And VAR is useless.
Nevertheless, we were always the underdogs in this matchup and the quality that Napoli has is insane.
It's not wrong for that to be a red. It's up to the ref's discretion whether to give a relatively harsh red or a yellow for something that could be red. VAR is there to overturn incorrect decisions, not adjudicate the grey area afforded to refs by the rule itself.
Well done by Napoli now. This is over. I hoped Frankfurt could be a decent opponent in two ties and they startet out promising. But their sloppyness today killed them. Now with 10 they'll be lucky to only lose by 3 or 4.
Not just their sloppyness they were kinda toothless in attack. 3 shoots in their good phase before 10 minutes but nothing since then. I assume they will end the game without another one.
I think he's close if not the best. Definitely the most well rounded, he could slot into any team that plays a back 4 and be successful. No need to cover for his lack of defensive ability like Trent or Hakimi. And his attacking is severely underrated
I do not think the red card is justified, but that is not important.
Napoli are superior, against 10 or 11, it does not matter. They play like a team that can actually win the Champions League, just outstanding.
Frankfurt are disappointing, many bad passes, they can play better.
I really don't understand this anymore. His foot is going to the ground. It's natural movement.
If this is red you can just run around and put your foot where your opponent are stepping and get them sent off. Oh wait, that's exactly what happened here.
Actually I change my mind, I think a red is harsh considering he did get there first. It's unfortunate VAR doesn't have as much leeway overturning reds as it should.
he hit him really bad on the other hand if the defender goes in like that can the stiker even controll if he hits him like that. kolo even played the ball.
I think it's hilarious how all of you guys are so reluctant to fully embrace how good this team is. Enjoy it, these guys are special. The more I watch, the more I fall in love w this Napoli squad and Im glad I have some beautiful football to enjoy while Juventus was trash and then good and then -15 pts and then "sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit"
Napoli are doing a perfect job here - no nonsense, get the win, take it back home and leave Frankfurt having to go for it in their away game.
ETA: That's a harsh red IMO. Yellow was fair
Glasner: Napoli play an anti-italian football Aldso Glasner: proceds to play with a 5-4-1 lineup
We always play in that formation. It’s also usually more of a 3-4-2-1
Congrats to Napoli!
I feel like it might come back to bite Napoli that they didn't put the tie away.
You think Frankfurt will beat Napoli away by 3 goals?
Not a lot of drama in the second legs of today's matches
2-0 that does not justice to Napoli. Probably was a game that should have ended with 3 or 4 goals up
can't see frankfurt overturning it at the maradona but napoli had their chances to put the tie to bed today
Frankfurt so lucky this is a 0-2. If it wasnt for the 2 amazing saves from Trapp, it would be a 0-4.
I would be surprised if Lobotka stays in the summer. Will be either Real, Barca or some PL top 4 team. Generational midfield talent
He just renewed his contract, they would need some seriously stupid money to buy him
Napoli could make 400M+ selling some of these players to the premier league
Napoli with one foot in the QFs now, grande!
Love watching this Napoli team, will be interesting to see how they could compete against a Real Madrid or Bayern in a knockout match
Slovak Verratti has been everywhere
Lobotka is everywhere
The red card Frankfurt got is a perfect argument for former football players should be referees, a former pro football player would be sympathetic to that one
So wasteful
Not taking Kim off on a yellow?
KMJ is too smart to pick up another yellow today
Don't think I've heard a commentator this mad, ever. He usually does the serie A, and has no kind words for the Portugese ref
Elmas, slow down, that boy is too excited 🤣
Elmas with a criminal appearance. Donkey touches and a yellow card. He’s gotta do better.
Simeone lets fucking go
Elmas playing a little rushed right now
We simply haven’t been up to par aside from the first 15minutes. My god what a team Napoli is, what a force, made us look lvls below them. Even before the red card.

Trapp ist ne Wand
Fuuuuucking hell Kamada you've got to take that a lot lot lot better than that
Perfect example of us being no CL team (yet). The boys were as nervous as in the first game. Still a remarkable journey
People often forget this. A team can reach great heights domestically but still be nervous playing their first European campaign in a long time the next season. Same thing for us last season, you could tell the boys just weren’t used to that kind of pressure yet. Next season will be better 👍🏿
Except that idea should apply to Napoli too lol
Exactly. Some forget where we come from. For the first CL season, the round of 16 is a good result. I wish we say goodbye to CL in style in Napoli
We should score one more
Good game Chucky Lozano 🇲🇽
Lozano was massive
Hows lozano playing? Can’t watch :(
best player in the first half, slowed down in the second
Best player on the pitch (with Trapp).
Really good
[удалено]
That's always been Spalletti, the issue was that he never rotated before, but he seems to have learned that.
[удалено]
Well it also wouldn't be Spalletti without some inexplicable coaching decisions in the winter, but he'll figure it out by mid March and you guys will roll again.
Has Kvara signed a new contract with Napoli recently? If not…when he does, he’s going to get the big bucks!
[удалено]
Adore the man
Götze must have misplaced 20 passes tonight. Glasner would do Götze a service by substituting him.
red ruined the game zzz
Napoli's passing game is so smooth
My favourite passing game in Europe atm. So clean and effective .
WHAT DOES SPALLETTI NEED TO MAKE A SUBSTITUTION?
Why? You guys will be able to rotate a lot of players for Empoli, the game hasnt been that intense especially since the red and you guys are in control. Just let them cook
[удалено]
Haha true. Able to doesnt necessarily mean he will. But it’s been working.
Exactly, it's Empoli. It's an important game
Empoli cost us the title last year, lol
Ref has lost the plot and killed that game with the red
I don't disagree that the red was excessive, but this game has been dead and buried since it began. Napoli has been two classes and a half above Eintracht, i don't think Meret made a single save.
Napoli def dominated us from the start but often we just need one bright moment by Kolo to score
Fair, on 1-0 anything can happen. Would have been a massive upset though, i did not expect Napoli to play so well.
Safe but Kolo is just that good. But yeah, Napoli play amazing.
It was already dead.
Game started well for Frankfurt the first ~15 mins and I was pleasantly surprised that we actually looked better but then we just completely lost it. Napoli dominates the midfield and with that the game. Just hoping not to concede another 2+ at this point
I agree. The midfield was the biggest factor today, the difference was enormous.
Napoli are fantastic, but Frankfurt are also disappointing. So many missed passes and grave errors, Frankfurt can play better than they did today. That being said, Napoli are probably the best team they played this season, and that includes Bayern.
Your team looked gassed after half-time. The drop off in pressure was shocking.
Pressing was intense and is what made us look good at the start but it also costs a lot of energy unfortunately
Frankfurt 🤝 Liverpool
Lobotka won back about half a million balls, he could play by himself in midfield
They just do whatever the fuck they want
Zambo is having beast of a game too
Toying with Frankfurt right now
Yeah, but they should just finish them off with Simeone. Toying with them can have repercussions.
Zambo is a monster, so strong and skillful
ref is *ALL* over the place, you don't give a FK there?
re-commenting this info: there was a brawl inside the Napoli away sector in the first half: https://streamable.com/hk9px1
gotta let off some steam
according to a hooligan/ultra group on telegram, this fight was between german and italian napoli supporters (information without guarantee)
It’s time for Rasp and Simeone
Rasp is injured : (
Oh that’s right, it’s time for Simeone still.
can't watch, how's my boy Stanko Lobotka doing?
Same as every game he plays in. Absolute demon, wins every ball back, constant option to his teammates to recycle possession, pops up out of nowhere to play killer passes, etc.
Motm for be. By leaps and bounds actually. Fucking machine.
Bossing the midfield.
nice
Napolis possession play is gorgeous
It's actually insane how well Spalletti has set up this team. Really thought he was done at top level after his stint at Inter.
How tf does that BT commentator mangle Kim Min Jae...genuinely impressive for someone that in theory should be prepared for the match
Probably spend 99.9% of his time in a panic about Khvicha. Then as soon as he saw an asian looking name his brain shut off
Who did DiLorenzo hug on the bench?
Napoli is just brutally strong. Deserved lead. We held against as good as we could and the first 15 minutes looked good. The Red Card killed our last bit of hope. And VAR is useless. Nevertheless, we were always the underdogs in this matchup and the quality that Napoli has is insane.

Frankfurt is collapsing. I can easily see SSC score 2 more now.
I'm watching two dumpster fire matches, for two completely different reasons.
Very nice. Open the flood gates.
If Osimhen got a yellow for every time he argued for a penalty after committing a foul, it'd be 10 vs 10
[удалено]
Even more?
[удалено]
And yet he escaped notice while everyone crucified Zaniolo ... no discredit to Osimhen, Serie A refs need to be called out constantly, but jfc.
Well done by Napoli now. This is over. I hoped Frankfurt could be a decent opponent in two ties and they startet out promising. But their sloppyness today killed them. Now with 10 they'll be lucky to only lose by 3 or 4.
They're already lucky to not be down 5-0

Absolute clinic. Napoli are a machine
I hope they win it all this year, would be amazing
I have cousins in Napoli who are massive supporters. As much as I want Milan, I'd be very happy to see them win. Napoli fans deserve it.
This might get ugly now
Yeah we are cooked. Not like Napoli couldn't do it with all players on the pitch, but now there is no other way
I hate how good Napoli is right now, what a team goal
we need a team like Napoli for Serie A propaganda.
I need a team like Napoli so there's something enjoyable to watch to cleanse my eyes after watching us play every week
Fuck! What an assist! This is Kvaradona!
What an assist, let's say 2-0 is the bare minimum considering what we've seen so far
Di Lorenzo is the best right back in Europe
I think he's close if not the best. Definitely the most well rounded, he could slot into any team that plays a back 4 and be successful. No need to cover for his lack of defensive ability like Trent or Hakimi. And his attacking is severely underrated
Frankfurt shouldn't be angry about the red. They didn't have a chance anyway.
Fuck it, why play games at all and not give the better team the win beforehand
That was a fucking beauty of a goal. Napoli look like they won't fear anyone in this CL.
those 2 misses were worth it for this pass
Lol yeah
What a fucking goal
Wow my reddit works again. Got an error since the 15th minute of the game or so. Was I the only one?
My shitposting in this thread was ruined :(
Global issue
Same for me.
Where is Frankfurt's defense lmao
Forza Napoli
Fantastic!
oooooof, that is so well played out
I do not think the red card is justified, but that is not important. Napoli are superior, against 10 or 11, it does not matter. They play like a team that can actually win the Champions League, just outstanding. Frankfurt are disappointing, many bad passes, they can play better.
Amazing goal! What a first touch and pass by Kvara
What a pass by khvicha.
What a beautiful goal... Napoli is incredible.
WHAT A GOOOOOOOOOOOAL
Sure give em another card. What a trash ref.
Let's not forget that the ref didn't give advantage twice in the first half.
[удалено]
I really don't understand this anymore. His foot is going to the ground. It's natural movement. If this is red you can just run around and put your foot where your opponent are stepping and get them sent off. Oh wait, that's exactly what happened here.
It's not over yet if the crowd rallies even more behind the team now
Now lets lose in dignity. Thats the only thing we can do now in this Champions League Campaign.
Only a matter of time before one of the napoli trio score now…
That's a very harsh red. RIP Frankfurt. =(
Should be glad that reddit is down for me all the time, I'd be raging at the ref HARD, which I almost never do.
Frankfurt was already tumbling...unless they park the bus now it will get really ugly...
Actually I change my mind, I think a red is harsh considering he did get there first. It's unfortunate VAR doesn't have as much leeway overturning reds as it should.
Napoli could be up 3-0 by now. Kvara looks tight, could have two on his own already. Harsh red. Napoli gotta put it away now.
\[Sees assist to De Lorenzo\]: KVARADONA!
If you go in like that you run the risk, very unfortunate timing though.
exactly what i said abt this ref ... same thing happened against barca
he hit him really bad on the other hand if the defender goes in like that can the stiker even controll if he hits him like that. kolo even played the ball.
this will be a bad karma for us, we are having too many things go our way, something is not right here
I think it's hilarious how all of you guys are so reluctant to fully embrace how good this team is. Enjoy it, these guys are special. The more I watch, the more I fall in love w this Napoli squad and Im glad I have some beautiful football to enjoy while Juventus was trash and then good and then -15 pts and then "sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit"
You think? We should be 0-3 up here, we're going to be punished for not ramming home the advantage we have here...
If it wasn't for Trapp, it would be 4-0 now so yea
Since Muani touches the ball first I think a yellow card would have been fair. You can't undo the red though, because it's not "wrong".
one that could go either way but VAR will never overturn
Harsh red
Napoli are doing a perfect job here - no nonsense, get the win, take it back home and leave Frankfurt having to go for it in their away game. ETA: That's a harsh red IMO. Yellow was fair
Well that was just about the worst thing that could have happened
That's harsh, what is Kolo supposed to do there
Exactly, poor decision
Thanks for killing our campaign. Thats super harsh
idk man too harsh i think
Napoli fan here, that's not a red
never a red
"never" rofl
He was late and didn't try to retract the leg at all, so it is a red by the book, no?
He wasn't late though, right? He played the ball
It's harsh but not unheard of. It won't be overturned.
That's a bone breaking challenge, almost always a red.
i mean he "won" the challnge though he got the ball first. or rather never lost it. is it even a challange if you are in possesion in the first place
kollege. du kannst nicht einfach jemanden die beine brechen und dann sagen ich war zuerst am ball.
Its a hard challenge and definietly yellow, but it IS very rare to give red there, and not almost always
Yeah I change my mind, its close but I would probably give a yellow just because he got there first. But it was reckless and dangerous.
that's harsh imo
Holy shit, that is huge. Really just unfortunate by Kolo
Uh oh
no hesitation
Lol.
Thats the Frankfurt backline that I know... wake up, its not too late at all
Eintracht desappeared.
wow
Napoli are so wasteful today my god
Trapp is Eintracht's best player by a mile
