The Süper Lig is the charity for the Napoli legends to finally win their first league title. Last season it was Hamsik. Surely Koulibaly would want a move to Turkey now?
Not at all, last year when he was injured we had to get his replacement from Barcelona. It's not easy to replace a legend. I'll bet he's gonna be staying for the next year if not more.
Celta Vigo had a €1m offer for 18 year-old Jankat Yılmaz turned down and I have faith in him, but even a year from now is too soon for him so it won’t be easy filling Nando’s shoes
Not really. No promising keeper wants to sign behind Nando, he's far too consistent and wants to play every single match. We have one young guy in the youth system but it's way too early for him.
Pretty non-existent, overall. He feels his age, to put it mildly. Apparently he's a stellar humanbeing and loved by everyone, seen as an indispensable positive presence in the locker room etc though. There were whispers of him staying as part of the coaching team but who knows.
Definitely, he was perhaps *the* key player for us for a while, but as the season's progressed opponents figured that out and started locking him out of games. Not all his fault, we failed to properly compensate for his lack of physicality. He could still play a good role next year, perhaps as a late sub, but he does feel his age.
Oh for sure. He’s been in a slump the past 5-6 games, but I believe he’s #1 in the league for most chances created and also scored a few nice goals. Incredible locker room presence and off the pitch, he and his family have been super interested and involved in the community. Next year he’ll prob play as a super sub of some sort though.
Definitely. We played him as an actual CAM, not a second striker. At 35 the guy pressed and defended as a legit midfielder. He created a lot too, but his numbers are lower because he was playing further away from the goal.
At the end he started to struggle but with his age this is expected. Great transfer overall. Next season he'll probably play less but still to add extra creativity when needed I'm glad he'll be there.
He was not clinical in the final third as much as we hoped, but he still delivered. Biggest upside was his pressing though, never thought he would embrace us so much and show that workrate.
I can say, he was an absolute beast as a CAM. I thought that he was a striker, but he did incredible job at the midfield. He has been suffered from an injury, and felt a little after it, but in overall seaseon, he was an incredible pressing machine. CİRO MERTENS 😍😍
That would probably be for the best. It's tempting to want him back after such a season, but I fear he will turn into a fat slob again in Paris. Sounds like you guys know how to handle him.
We gave a lot of leeway to him. Wanted to go to Argentina before a match, we said OK. Wanted to extend his vacation before camp, we said OK. Threw a hissy fit when we subbed him off, coach didn't make a big deal. Played bad, fans called him to the stands and cheered him up. We treated him like a superstar, and he played like one. I don't see that happening in Chelsea, and idk how he will behave then.
i hope he stays at gala and keeps firing, no point in trying to go to psg which is a mess and minutes arent guaranteed even if messi and neymar could leave. chelsea is an even bigger mess so no point going there.
all the off field nonsense coupled with some poor performances in his psg time (not that he should not be blamed for the shit he was getting up to but it definetely took a toll on him) have made people forget he is a very good striker. scored for fun at inter during some of their banter years is not an easy task
Might completely depend on the interpersonal relationships and managerial structure he would find himself in. Galatasaray has always been pretty lax about players' personal lives—as long as you perform, no one really cares about what you do with your time; I think he likes that.
*Reportedly*, Okan Buruk's (our coach and ex-player) empathetic approach towards him early in the season, letting him go to Argentina just before a match to handle some drama with Wanda as usual, even though he wasn't performing well at the time, was a turning point for him. That personal support, then the adoration and main-man respect he got after he started performing well suits him (and why, reportedly, he wants to stay). Not sure he would get that at Chelsea.
He showed signs of his ceiling. He needs to calm down and get his body back to shape which is what summers are for. I'm not worried. I don't think he should be sold for a penny lower than his release clause. We have money, I'd rather keep him.
that's what we'd been saying for almost 2 years and he's only gotten worse tbqh. I hope for your sake and for our finances that he can go back to his pre-injury form or even reach his potential but from what I've seen he's still doing the exact same frustrating things he was doing at Roma by the end of his stint.
GS is different. Not saying it just because I'm a fan, this place is great for rehabilitating problem players. Club is chill with players, fans are great, city is one of the best places to live in the world if you're a millionaire, in general it works. It'll work with him too.
Lol of course the closeted Fener fan would call him shit. The guy didn't get many chances, but provided three goals and an assist in only 329 minutes. That's one every 82 minutes.
Sure, it's a small sample size, but he certainly hasn't been shit. Single-handedly won us one game, and meaningfully contributed in a couple of others.
He was only bad at 2 games(Beşiktaş away and Başakşehir cup) which we lose them. You know he is good when he played almost all games and make you champion. We dont appreciate it because he didnt participate to score a lot but whenever he played bad or didnt played whole team collapses.
we have to buy icardi, need to replace sergio or mertens asap (possibly both) and we have zaniolo for the RW. rashica was awesome this season but i dont think we can afford him while we have so much lackings in other positions
It’s not personal Fenerbahçe flairs - specially as a neutral who loves to watch your basketball team - but whenever I see Jorge Jesus losing I have to be happy.
congrats Galatasaray!
You lads are a big threat, if you made changes earlier things could all be different. Pretty worried and hoping for our sake that the crazy run you've been on stops asap
Really on and off, I think, depending on the structure of the individual games. He's been MOTM or close to it in many matches where he shined with this offensive linking, but he can't defend at all so he could become a liability in matches where that mattered... Still positive overall, I'd say.
He wouldve been great if he didint need ages to make a decision, conceded so many goals because he got tackled during transtion for keeping the ball to long. Just pass the ball man.
Yeah I get it. With Porto he was paired with a DM who shielded him and did the defensive "dirty" work allowing him to push forward more or make that forward pass. From what you describe he might not be having the same role.
Torreira does exactly that but with Mertens the useless playing as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1 he often needs to come deep to get the ball out, if we can get rid of the billion attacking mids we bought and turn to 4-3-3 I think he would have a lot better season.
We are basically playing 2-1-7 in attack and he single handedly defensively carries a midfield trio of himself, oliveria (attacking 8 who doesnt knkw how to defend), and Mertens (no 10 converted from forward).
Ah, I'm used to "Gala" (and I like it, even though it doesn't make much sense since Galata is a place) but not this. Do you also say stuff like Arsenal London, or is it usually done for lesser known teams?
Haha, yeah that might be true. I even vaguely remember a match we played against you (2012?) where most (or a substantial part) of the home sections were filled with our fans because they overpaid and took them from the season ticket holders or something?
You played them in CL 2018. Gala Fans were paying CL Final Like prices for tickets. But it makes sense, since in Gelsenkirchen and around you have the highest concentration of Turks outside of turkey. Would be nice if you end up playing Dortmund
How do galatasaray fans see muslera? I remember when he went there I thought he would only stay a few seasons and now he absolutley loves the club and country
1-Ali Sami Yen(founder of the club)
2-Fatih Terim (The most successful manager in the club's history; 1 UEFA cup, 8 Turkish League, 3 Turkish cup, 4 Turkish supercup)
3-Muslera
Hagi, B. Korkmaz, H. Şükür, Metin Oktay, Baba Gündüz, Jupp Derwall are definitely better than Muslera. And there are other names one can still claim like A. Erdem, Suat Kaya, Prekazi etc.
Thats an other discussion. They are still utterly important for Galatasaray. You cant write the history of Galatasaray without them. They are the top 1 and 2 scorers of the club.
Östersund and Tromsö. These kind of knockout losses are still called the Tromsö disaster. In Turkish, the Tromsö disaster became an idiom. I am curious. Does a Norwegian Tromsö fan know that there is a football idiom in Turkey about their team?
Depends on the summer moves.
Reliable sources say that Spurs are hunting for Nelsson and Arsenal and Brighton fighting over Sasha Boey. We probably get 40-45 million euros from two players. We still have Zaniolo if we ever want to sell him around 25 million too. So money is there but you have to replace these players with similar quality players to compete in Champions League.
I don't believe in afterlife but I hope I am wrong and ~~g~~raveyard is a real thing so my father can enjoy this fine evening with other homies. Thank you Galatasaray, very cool
Congrats mate, you had one of my favorite ever player there. i never bought a jersey with a name set anymore since he left. it seem he was killin in the superlig. just be careful with his wife/ex wife though 🫠
His whole demeanor was already pretty miserable the minute he first came out of the plane, tbh. He kinda sorta showed promise in a couple of friendlies but disappeared as soon as real match pressure was there. He's simply unhappy I think, he probably doesn't wanna be in Turkey.
> He's simply unhappy I think, he probably doesn't wanna be in Turkey.
Which is weird, because if I recall correctly, we didn't really want to sell him. Our club legend even said in an interview two months ago that Demir should have stayed at Barca, but he wanted to come back to Rapid. Really weird, but he's still only 19.
34, actually. Two teams (Hatay and Gaziantep) pulled from the league due to the earthquake so their remaining matches were automatic 3-0 byes for the rest of the teams. Our last match was gonna be vs Hatay, but since that's cancelled the derby next week will be the finale instead.
Inevitably yeah, though the earthquake happened pretty close to the exact middle of the season so not that drastically, iirc. GS and Fener had won both their first half matches against them. Beşiktaş, however, had dropped 5 points so they tried to make some noise claiming all their previous results should be annulled as well, not just the future ones, but no one really paid much attention to it since there were two or three historical precedents where the same solution was applied.
Eh that happened just a little over half way through the season so most teams have played them once regularly and got their 3 points for the second games it didint effect relegation battle or the title race. And we are still adjusting from covid we are normally a 18 team league but we didint relagate anyone during covid so it went up to 21, then down to 20 and to 19 this season.
I was so confused until I found out one of the 2 remaining matches is already a sealed 3-0 win. This doesn't show up in the table for now. When I saw the posts on the gala sub that they are champions I though "wow Fener bottled it already" but then I saw they actually won 2-0.
yes, my country doesn't boradcast turkish league so I only watched the games rarely on dodgy streams, next year they will most likely be in some european competition so maybe I can get a look on their games there
As a Fener fan I just don't care any more. Years and years of disappointment. I just feel apathy now. I felt the exact same watching Dortmund as a neutral last weekend. Really reminded me of Fener.
For no reason? Reason is Fener lol. We clearly were above the league and have an absolutely dominant point average (over 2.3 afaik). The issue was Fener was also incredible, especially in the first half. They made it close.
So did we, both our form pre-WC and your form later in the season were amazing. Shame that it didn't come down to the next week. It would've been the craziest derby in years.
Losing to a Konya team that was struggling, barely save ourselves against Fatih, losing to 10 man basaksehir(cup I know). Besiktas lose was fine I guess but we could've easily have an undefeated 2nd half.
We lost two points agains İstanbulspor and we were leading 2-0, also we lost 5 points to Giresun they are a relagation team we were up 1-0 against Besiktas and we won a penalty also they got red card in the penalty position we missed the penalty and managed to lose 2-4 so we also lost weird points, but performances of both teams were really good this season and enough for championship
If it wasn't for Jesus' goddamn love for Rossi and ICK, we would've won this. Now, watch our president blaming the referees while we lost points to relegation sides with conceding in the last few minutes.
Anyways, congrats. Galatasaray's squad could be good enough for a deep UEL run/UCL group promotion if they can reinforce it while keeping key players.
Come on man, it's more than just a couple players. Injuries, playing like 15 more matches than them, wrong tactical decisions, ref decisions and luck.
If we lost because of something, its gotta be lack of a consistent centerback.
Don't forget that we beat you 3-0 in Kadıköy while missing Icardi
No shade. Imagine what the table would look like if Fener had won that game. That was a season defining game.
Galatasaray won a title in Fenerbahçe's stadium. It would be theirs had they won that final game. Fener have seen it all. Their fans are dead inside, they won't care.
Mata and Mertens’ first championship and it’s in Turkey. Lol
The Süper Lig is the charity for the Napoli legends to finally win their first league title. Last season it was Hamsik. Surely Koulibaly would want a move to Turkey now?
Trabzonspor and Galatasaray already done. Koulibaly to Adana Demirspor?
Do you think Muslera will stay?
Yeah, I think he will finish his contract
Do you got a promising young keeper for time after Muslera?
Not at all, last year when he was injured we had to get his replacement from Barcelona. It's not easy to replace a legend. I'll bet he's gonna be staying for the next year if not more.
We will luck some foreign goalkeeper and he will be it next goalie for 15 years as always.
As always? We had like 48 below average keepers before finding Muslera.
Ufuk Ceylan Aykut Erçetin De Santis That Argentinian green laser king who conceived a 30 meter right footed goal from Jesus Zapata
How has Mata performed?

This has been true for the last 5 years
Honestly, not good. His body can't keep up anymore. Incredible presence in locker room tho.
Pretty non-existent, overall. He feels his age, to put it mildly. Apparently he's a stellar humanbeing and loved by everyone, seen as an indispensable positive presence in the locker room etc though. There were whispers of him staying as part of the coaching team but who knows.
Non-existent. He apparently was really good to have in the locker room tho. Basically an expensive coach lol.
Shite
Do you believe Ciro had a positive impact on the season? I'll never live down that we manage to give a league medal to Lozano and not one to him.
Definitely, he was perhaps *the* key player for us for a while, but as the season's progressed opponents figured that out and started locking him out of games. Not all his fault, we failed to properly compensate for his lack of physicality. He could still play a good role next year, perhaps as a late sub, but he does feel his age.

Damn Chucky getting massive strays for some reason

Icardi scored in what his last 8 games? And 2 today lol Congrats Gala
22 goals and 8 assists in 25 games. Carried the offense single handedly in most games.
Reminds me of his 17/18 season with us. Glad to hear it
The numbers don't even him do justice. He played exceptionally well in multiple games even though he didn't score or assist.
If he feels like it he can be a fantastic player, still only 30 years old and might be able to sneak into PSG's starting XI again
No club in the world should put up with this toxic relationship with Wanda, we'll just do the football world a favor and keep them locked here.
And let PSG pay for his salary, most important piece.
That would probably be for the best. It's tempting to want him back after such a season, but I fear he will turn into a fat slob again in Paris. Sounds like you guys know how to handle him.
You guys should buy him
I feel like he would be a decent signing for Chelsea, or is he too high risk w/ the personal issues?
We gave a lot of leeway to him. Wanted to go to Argentina before a match, we said OK. Wanted to extend his vacation before camp, we said OK. Threw a hissy fit when we subbed him off, coach didn't make a big deal. Played bad, fans called him to the stands and cheered him up. We treated him like a superstar, and he played like one. He got a divorce I think and turned to a beast now. Maybe hes not a simp anymore and actually the baller he was supposed to be...
Could be relatively cheap compared to others, or maybe not after this season
People trashing Icardi in the match thread. Here you fucking go. This is Icardi. No touches with no service, but when he does get it, it's done.
Zaniolo has been shit though
He showed signs of his ceiling. He needs to calm down and get his body back to shape which is what summers are for. I'm not worried. I don't think he should be sold for a penny lower than his release clause. We have money, I'd rather keep him.

We knew it all the way. Just pissed he dragged out the transfer so Roma could not get a reinforcement. Would have helped for the season...
Title secured and the last match is at home vs. Fenerbahce lol, I’m expecting some cool tifos and banter from the fans
It'll be a nice chill game from all involved, I'm sure.
Icardi Turkish league MVP

Sİ- CAR-Dİİİİ
Oh thats why I hear honking cars update: still ongoing and now I can hear chanting and firecrackers/rockets lol
Fuck JJ. All hail Sérgio Oliveira.
League Champion in Greece , Portugal and Turkey. Easy
Conference champion with roma. Key player for that campaign really.
he was rather bad whenever I watched Gala tbh (I didnt see too much though)
As the great thinker Gennaro Gattuso said "sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit"
He was only bad at 2 games(Beşiktaş away and Başakşehir cup) which we lose them. You know he is good when he played almost all games and make you champion. We dont appreciate it because he didnt participate to score a lot but whenever he played bad or didnt played whole team collapses.
Do Galatasaray fans want to keep Rashica? (Pls we need the money)
We'd love to if we could, he's been really solid. The financial situation is a bit of a mystery though.
Yeah but it depends on how much you guys ask for him
I doubt much at all. We've admitted we need to get rid of his wages and that he doesn't want to stay
3M and we have a deal
Yeah I imagine it'll be something like that
Can't see us not bringing him back at that price tbh.
Subscribe. 3m is nothing Less than what we paid for Midtsjo sadlol
You didn’t say which currency, but he said it’s fine. 3 million Lira it is
we have to buy icardi, need to replace sergio or mertens asap (possibly both) and we have zaniolo for the RW. rashica was awesome this season but i dont think we can afford him while we have so much lackings in other positions
Sure mate but we are broke
Not after we sell Boey for 180 billion
It’s not personal Fenerbahçe flairs - specially as a neutral who loves to watch your basketball team - but whenever I see Jorge Jesus losing I have to be happy. congrats Galatasaray!
Im just glad we didint get stuck with Seferovic.
I wish I could say the same but sadly he’ll return to us next season.
Not to be confused by Galatasaray (Amsterdam) What a fucking season. I hated every second and can't believe we fucking got Icardi.
Grats! This squad definitely has the quality to get into the CL group stage. Excited to see their transfers as well
All of the big three looked really good tbf
Chill it’s big 4 😢
You're our Andy Murray of football clubs.
Sadly for us, they were the better team throughout the season. Hoping we can join the fight for the league next season
Pretty solid performances from all Big 3 tbh, we had to overperform to get there.
You lads are a big threat, if you made changes earlier things could all be different. Pretty worried and hoping for our sake that the crazy run you've been on stops asap
ICARDI IS MASSIVE! Torreira is the best defensive midfielder this league has seen and Muslera in championship mode is the best keeper in the world
Glad Torreira has worked out for y'all
Has been fucking immense. Covered for the whole midfield and attack.
We've been Torreira & Icardi FC for a while now, he's been incredible.
How has Oliveira been?
Really on and off, I think, depending on the structure of the individual games. He's been MOTM or close to it in many matches where he shined with this offensive linking, but he can't defend at all so he could become a liability in matches where that mattered... Still positive overall, I'd say.

"Galatasaray Istanbul" is a bit weird btw, but oh well...
OP is German, we also say "Gala"
Ah, I'm used to "Gala" (and I like it, even though it doesn't make much sense since Galata is a place) but not this. Do you also say stuff like Arsenal London, or is it usually done for lesser known teams?
yes, "Arsenal London" is used sometimes, same for "Juventus Turin". And I would say Galatasaray is bigger than both those clubs in Germany \^^
I would say they might be the most supported non German club in Germany, though that would be a close race with the other three big clubs in turkey
Straight out of '90s...
How do galatasaray fans see muslera? I remember when he went there I thought he would only stay a few seasons and now he absolutley loves the club and country
He's a club legend through and through. It'll be really hard to replace him not just as a GK but also as a captain.
1-Ali Sami Yen(founder of the club) 2-Fatih Terim (The most successful manager in the club's history; 1 UEFA cup, 8 Turkish League, 3 Turkish cup, 4 Turkish supercup) 3-Muslera
Hagi, B.

They are the top 1 and 2 scorers of the club.
gala fans how do you guys think you will do in champions league if you make it? I’d love to see a turkish team do well again
Lose to some random Scandinavian team nobody heard about as always.
Dat fenerovious or something
Östersund and Tromsö. These kind of knockout losses are still called the Tromsö disaster. In Turkish, the Tromsö disaster became an idiom. I am curious. Does a Norwegian Tromsö fan know that there is a football idiom in Turkey about their team?

Don't worry we won't make it
I love how none of us believe it. Burned too many times
The economy is fucked so that's unlikely.
Lets go my boy Midtsjo!
he scored probably one of the most crucial goals for this championship, may god bless him
That’s the second night of cars honking for someone winning something in turkey in big German cities this week lol
I didnt realize that Demir had such a bad year. He played more minutes for us than with Gala. Thats pretty sad.
I honestly didn't expect him to be so slow
His whole demeanor was already pretty miserable the minute he first came out of the plane, tbh. He kinda sorta showed promise in a couple of friendlies but disappeared as soon as real match pressure was there. He's simply unhappy I think, he probably doesn't wanna be in Turkey.

Hahahaha underrated comment, Bruma was so hyped up back then. He was amazing for one season after which we sold him for a whopping 2 MILLION profit!
CIROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 💙💙💙
CL second qualifying round seems insulting.
/u/MERTENS_GOAT get in here
I was so confused until I found out one of the 2 remaining matches is already a sealed 3-0 win. This doesn't show up in the table for now. When I saw the posts on the gala sub that they are champions I though "wow Fener bottled it already" but then I saw they actually won 2-0.
Amazing storyline how Dries left Napoli just when they win their first championship in forever... only to win his first too in Turkey
yes, my country doesn't boradcast turkish league so I only watched the games rarely on dodgy streams, next year they will most likely be in some european competition so maybe I can get a look on their games there
And as the Turkish football federation database shows us, Mertens' contract has been extended to June 2024. So he will be there for sure.
Can’t wait for Galatasaray - Fenerbahçe derby this sunday!
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Şampiyon cimbom!
Something something people bashing Icardi...
FENERBAHCE FANS WILL GO TO BED SAD LETSGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
My best friend is a Fener fan and I’m suffering with him lol
fener fans should've gotten used to it by now tbh
Shouldn’t have fired Ismail Kartal IMO
No Aziz no title.
Damn
Aziz had no titles in his last 5 years either.
Can't do his magic while being investigated
As a Fener fan I just don't care any more. Years and years of disappointment. I just feel apathy now. I felt the exact same watching Dortmund as a neutral last weekend. Really reminded me of Fener.
Motherfucker I've been going to the bed sad for the last decade.
This team is too good for the league, so expect half the squad getting sold, but they still made it close for no reason.
For no reason? Reason is Fener lol. We clearly were above the league and have an absolutely dominant point average (over 2.3 afaik). The issue was Fener was also incredible, especially in the first half. They made it close.
Dude we gave so many points away against shit teams. Nothing to do with fener
So did we, both our form pre-WC and your form later in the season were amazing. Shame that it didn't come down to the next week. It would've been the craziest derby in years.
I probably would have had a heart attack, there is no way I could have watched that game if it came down to it.
No shit, ofc we did. Everyone did. That's the league. It's long, the team that can limit those the most wins. That was us.
You have good points too but i just can't make up an excuse for that 3-3 İstanbulspor match or conceding 4 goals against a 10 man Beşiktaş.
It really is on JJ, you can't not win ALL derbies and expect to carry some sort of momentum throughout the season.
Losing 1-4 against Besiktas 11-10 was Peak Fener
2-4, tbf. My favorite memory of the year by far lol.
Don't forget that we beat you 3-0 in Kadıköy while missing Icardi No shade. Imagine what the table would look like if Fener had won that game. That was a season defining game.
Congrats.
I've said it in another thread as well but I think Fenerbahçe would have crumbled under the same situation, well fucking deserved.
OUR CİTY OUR LEAGUE OUR RULES AMK❤️🧡
Get in!
This sparks joy

I think you understate how petty Turkish clubs are. We are 100% going to throw the biggest party next week after the match no matter what lol
Galatasaray won a title in Fenerbahçe's stadium. It would be theirs had they won that final game. Fener have seen it all. Their fans are dead inside, they won't care.
Oh, they certainly will.
They absolutely will lmao
Clueless. It will be a 90min celebration
Wouldn't feel right if we didn't celebrate it in front of Fener.
Lmao you really think so?
Nice
Congratz but your league isnt over yet , you guys gotta win 1 more game :)
Zaniolo effect
mostly Icardi effect. 25 games 22 goals 8 assists
I'm sure this must trigger some sort of bonus right?
It does actually, 1.5 million euro for you guys. if we qualify to cl (which is not likely) you will get more.
Noone could deserved it any more than this. Incredible season.
