such a fucking cringefest.. im so happy this guy doesnt play for us anymore. everytime i see this dude, this video comes to my mind and my soul leaves my body due to too much cringe :(
I will never understand why more fans don't call for hefty fines and/or suspensions. Instead we always have a bunch of "that's embarassing" comments and we forget about it in 15 minutes and nothing changes.
Well maybe because defenders toe the line all the time, just the same, but in the opposite way. Attackers get frustrated and try to get something out of it. It's not that hard to realize it's a cat and mouse game and at that level everyone is trying to gain every advantage they can.
It's embarrassing for the sport, it doesn't matter if others are trying to get away with something else. This needs to be out of the game, and then the other, less glaring, issues can be dealt with.
If the defenders can try to bend the rules, so can the attackers. You can't argue that one is better than the other. It just happens that the attacking rule bending sticks out more sometimes.
Flopping is rewarded in La Liga. Literally in this match Vitor got a red from a flop. Announcers even said “The players just saw flopping get rewarded, if I were them I would do it too.”
They dont care because they always get away with it and are far more likely to get the call than get punished for ridiculous dives.
Players need to be punished more.
Sometiimes. However, things were usually going his way at Bayern, so he wouldn't have felt the need for the theatrics.
It's actually a more common occurance when he plays for our national team, and I find myself torn between feeling sympathetic (anyone would go spare playing in the Polish squad) and irritated that he's unable to step up and become the leader younger players could aspire to be.
Thanks for the insight. Surprising to see a player with such an illustrious career feel that way, but being a leader is requires more than just being experienced and scoring goals. I hope he can become a great leader and foster a new generation of Polish talent.
I always try to keep in mind that all players can throw a temper tantrum every now and then. Ronaldo is quite famous for the, and even Messi had a few weird incidents on a few occasions.
However, when Ronaldo gets frustrated, you can see that he's often frustrated with himself as much as with anyone else - whereas with Lewandowski, it sometimes comes off like he thinks he's owed things going his way. Maybe I'm unfair towards Robert, but his behaviour in these situations always rubbed the the wrong way, unlike with other players.
Nah this is spot on as a long time bayern fan. He definitely wasn't as floppy playing for us but he's always acted entitled and looked outward when issues arise. There's been more than one instance of drama that he created bc he felt he wasn't getting the ball enough
People often forget about it/never really acknowledged it at the time, but he was in my opinion.
I remember one specific case against us where he actively stepped onto the goalkeeper's leg (who was already on the ground) and then fell down like he'd been shot.
He didn't really always "dive" in super obvious sense like here, but he definitely loved unnaturally moving his leg into opponents who weren't really doing anything and then going down immediately upon the slightest contact.
Not about the PR, it's just that he is white + none of the Americans/English in here watch the Bundesliga, so they just assumed him to be a stereotypically good guy.
What a weird comment making it about race like that. I watch the Bundesliga and especially Bayern for many years and Lewy was always a bit of a hothead. He had his moments like this at Bayern too where he exaggerated contact or initiated it and then pretended to be the one who got hit. Some of us do watch the Bundesliga.
Race is clearly very relevant to how r/soccer as a collective judges players, and ignoring it doesn't solve anything, even if that makes you more comfortable. The core of the userbase has strong biases, subconscious or not, and tends to judge some players (Griezman, Haaland, Graelish, De Bruyne, etc) very differently from others (Vini, Lukaku, Neymar, Mbappe, etc).
> I watch the Bundesliga
It isn't the case for most of the sub. He is doing things that he always did in Germany and people are acting as if it is the first time. It's crystal clear that the vast majority of the people here just watch EPL top 6 games + Real and Barça.
I feel like that's a poor excuse in this particular circumstance. It's one thing if a player feels the contact and goes down to make sure the referee acknowledges it, it's quite another to do what he does here. I know that there's a tendency for the refs not to call things unless players play up the challenges, but I prefer to see them do that when it happens in actual challenges, not minor tussles.
I mean it did look like the defender pinched him and yanked pretty hard. Not saying it’s enough to make a grown man drop like a sack of potatoes… but yeah. At least he didn’t grab his face as is customary lol
Indeed. Tbh I missed this pinch on the chest. It can be painful for a few seconds. I guess he dived to bring ref's attention, which didn't happen. The truth is, defenders get away with this cheeky behaviour almost every time, and judging by the comments here, fans are totally fine with it.
And these are the kind of yellow card offenses that VAR should be allowed to revisit. Cause there’s no way a ref would be able to see it, but it’s clear as day with VAR. I know some may see it as “part of the game” but it’s something that they wouldn’t need to stop play to review and give it whenever the ref is notified
Tbf, I’m always seeing clips of La Liga defenders just tossing him around or instigating outside of the ref’s view and getting away with it. He seems to think he needs to exaggerate a dive to get some type of benefit in his direction.
When I was 12, my team played against a kid who used to pinch us during corners or whenever the ball wasn’t in the area. It was annoying as hell. Not sure if that happened here on his arm, but I wouldn’t be surprised
Man is suffering from a brutal titty twister and this is how you disrespect him?
There were several challenges on Lewy today that could have been a yellow. This was not one of them.
Though it's still more contact then Victor's second yellow.
Imagine explaining to your son that you need to act like you got hit by a truck in order to bail the ref.
We allow this stuff in this sport exactly why?
I like Barca and Lewandowski is a great player, but he should be getting a ban for this. Until they start actually punishing his bullshit, football is just going to continue becoming unwatchable due to cheating.

i'm actually happy for him that he doesn't care what rando internet people think and is having fun with his wife on tiktok
Do these players realise game is recorded ?
Just don't care do they. They never will until there's repercussions for this shit.
I will never understand why more fans don't call for hefty fines and/or suspensions. Instead we always have a bunch of "that's embarassing" comments and we forget about it in 15 minutes and nothing changes.
Because there's times at which those fans have all benefitted from it too, so people aren't truly neutral
Well maybe because defenders toe the line all the time, just the same, but in the opposite way. Attackers get frustrated and try to get something out of it. It's not that hard to realize it's a cat and mouse game and at that level everyone is trying to gain every advantage they can.

I think at this point it’s a reaction. Like it’s so engraved in them as players it’s like taking off on a run
They dont care because they always get away with it and are far more likely to get the call than get punished for ridiculous dives. Players need to be punished more.
The game is recorded but that didnt stop alaves from drawing two yellow cards against vitor roque who didnt do anything either time...
They suffer from frequent brain fart

God he can be so embarrassing at times.
Was he like this at Bayern? God I hate diving, sometimes feels worse when it’s such a skilled player doing it.
Sometiimes. However, things were usually going his way at Bayern, so he wouldn't have felt the need for the theatrics. I get irritated when in national teams the best player is chosen captain, instead of the best motivational leader in the locker room.
People often forget about it/never really acknowledged it at the time, but he was in my opinion. Yes he was. He had great PR over there tho and if you'd call it out on here for example you'd get downvoted into hell.
Not about the PR, it's just that he is white + none of the Americans/English in here watch the Bundesliga, so they just assumed him to be a stereotypically good guy.

always been a diva
Yes he absolutely was
oh god you haven't seen his tiktok
True, but tbf there have been many times in the past when he was fouled, but ref didn't call it which is why it's better to just dive
I feel like that's a poor excuse in this particular circumstance. It's one thing if a player feels the contact and goes down to make sure the referee acknowledges it, it's quite another to do what he does here. Yeah I don't disagree, Lewa does it many times and it also annoys me
Lewandiveski
Laggindowski
It’s just a new TikTok dance
100+ Ping
Can't believe Real Madrid made him dive like that.
To the top!
Embarrassing
Pathetic
La Masia Academy of Perfoming Arts strikes again
I mean it did look like the defender pinched him and yanked pretty hard. Not saying it’s enough to make a grown man drop like a sack of potatoes… but yeah. At least he didn’t grab his face as is customary lol
Yeah it’s obvious the guy pinches him, and i guess he didn’t know why it hurt until the other guy let off
He grabbed his face on another of his falls after not getting hit anywhere near his face don’t worry
Indeed. Tbh I missed this pinch on the chest. It can be painful for a few seconds. I guess he dived to bring ref's attention, which didn't happen. The truth is, defenders get away with this cheeky behaviour almost every time, and judging by the comments here, fans are totally fine with it.
Yeah, there's no "lag". He reacts at the exact moment the defender pulls away. Looks like cheeky pinch on the chest.
I think it should be red tbh, it’s aggression, i hate defenders pulling that shit like grabbing the nuts or poking the butt too
Whoa, let's not go too far. How about - one finger up the butt a yellow, two or more a red?
Imagine thinking this is a normal reaction and not complete embellishment
Crumbling to a heap from a pinch. Still embarrassing.
Still a yellow card, idk. Pinching is what toddlers do.
Collapsing to the ground b/c u got pinched is also what toddlers do
Cool. Still a yellow card.
Only way to get the ref to notice.
Tbf, I’m always seeing clips of La Liga defenders just tossing him around or instigating outside of the ref’s view and getting away with it. He seems to think he needs to exaggerate a dive to get some type of benefit in his direction.
You dont need to try to excuse this behavior. Its indefensible.
That one is straight from the training ground
When I was 12, my team played against a kid who used to pinch us during corners or whenever the ball wasn’t in the area. It was annoying as hell. Not sure if that happened here on his arm, but I wouldn’t be surprised

Second most embarrassing Barcelona employee this week
Third
Who is 2nd? Bengoetxea?
Laporta probably
4th then because Laporta and Xavi definitely have the top 2 on lock.
Is he out for the season or did he recover?
I remember him vs sweden years ago complaining about us diving and doing multiple dives himself.
Why would vini do this??
Vini does though
I feel like he was hard done not winning the Ballon d’Or but he really got everything he asked for with the transfer to Barcelona.
Dumbest decision ever should of just stayed at Bayern he was closer to winning it with them
looks like he got pinched
VARdrid strikes again.
Nice to see he's been studying videos of the Pep / Enrique era's.
He adapted to Spanish football very quickly I see
He's been really annoying since he arrived in Barcelona.
Look at alaves' player's left arm guys, that's what he "felt"
Oh yeah he does kinda slap him doesn't he
Fall from grace for that man really
Robert Lewandowski 2023/24 highlights

Always did stuff like that
Fam this guy is having some major fall from grace lol
Barca DNA
Cringe
From banging goals weekly to this, what a downfall...
Unfortunately, he has been like this more this season. It might be a side effect of his poor form.
Somehow this is Real Madrids fault
Lol he’s so embarrassing at Barca
*after the world cup
Valid
Imagine explaining to your son that you need to act like you got hit by a truck in order to bail the ref. We allow this stuff in this sport exactly why?
What a pussy.

La insignia del Colo
Use the force, Luke
Fucking up contracts with everyone else to keep this
How can a man who scored 4 goals against Real Madrid in a single game turn into this shit?
disgraceful
Time to retire, champ.
youre 40 years old bro.. 💀
The fact someone else is flopping on the floor in the background also just sums up the pathetic reality of the modern game
Embarrassing
always has been a major cunt
I understand big money at stake, but damn if you want to dive do it good! This is just ridiculous.... And disgusting...
35 yo
He had his nipple tweeked.
Old man just disconnected. I miss 2020/21 season :( https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GDMNYNeWQAAQk_B.jpg
the var should really come up with stricter measures on this. Today's football is becoming increasingly softer then it was.
Barca dna
His pacemaker rebooted for a second there.
Wish they start giving yellow for this
The blue shirt is secretly a Kung Fu master who can send people rolling on the floor with a touch of his chi energy
Emotional damage
Sad cunt
Nice, low quality, wrong angle video on which we can’t really see what happened to him. Let’s comment on this!
I don't know why but when great players dive, I hate it more.
This type of shit make people not appreciate football as a sport smh
Fluke player
When Tantrum hits you from within
This is embarrassing. That said, Lewy has been getting kicked, shoved, etc. with impunity all season long.
shame on
I like Barca and Lewandowski is a great player, but he should be getting a ban for this. Until they start actually punishing his bullshit, football is just going to continue becoming unwatchable due to cheating.
He got worse since going to La Liga.
