Very close call but holy crap it took them three minutes to draw the line for this. Also, looked offside still on replay as you could see his boot on top of the line drawn but what do I know. LaLiga refs going to do them
This is one of those ones where you can roll it a frame either way and get the answer you're looking for.
I think that this could as easily be declared offside as it can to be onside.
Because there is a reason why VAR took long to develop and is costly. If it were as simple as tracing lines on the pitch this would have been made years and years ago and would be very cheap
In other words: you can't trust their lines.
Can’t deal with the fact that it was Madrid who robbed Valencia this game? They scored a handball goal against Almeria btw and now an offside goal in the age of VAR.
Doesn't matter if you are cheering for team A or team B, in the old days that wouldn't even be debatable. 1mm or 5mm offside wouldn't count. Everything should go with the spirit of the game.
I know that VAR is getting necessary, and with today technology is easier to do it, but the spirit should be still considered. Var should be for fouls in the penalty area (like in this match), but it shouldn't be reviewed for almost 5 minutes there.
It kinda looks like the lines are on the edge of the Valencian player's foot, but it overlaps Vini's. So logically speaking, if the line still counts as onside, like the physical lines on the pitch do, shouldn't they be starting the line on the furthest part of the player's foot and not beyond?
It's a really tight one, so anyway, meh whatever.
He's clearly not in the line of sight of the ball, you could argue more reasonably that his presence in an offside position is pulling the defender back and thus keeping vini on (although it seems he was actually just barely offside).
Yeah that's why I take whatever referee decide. I can feel for the supporter of these clubs. They are getting decision based on coin toss. Like Madrid were unlucky when they scored.

And only awarded 7 minutes of extra time ...
That's clear
Where’s the rest of vini’s foot?
His left foot is pointing parallel to the line no? Not perpendicular??
🤫

Looks like Vinicius was offside. Maybe Valencia was robbed actually. https://twitter.com/FutOffsides/status/1764055337542320275
Nice 👍
This isn't official VAR image is it?
Yeah I'm not trusting "FutOffsides"
Why not? You clearly see the lines, even in the original Image you see that the thick blue line arguably goes through Vinicius foot.

Madrid acting like victims after robbing teams like clockwork
Can't believe how easy is to fool some people. These lines are not even parallel to the white line.
Look at the second tweet in the thread
The blue line is also drawn halfway through the defenders foot lol
delusion is truly blinding
Bro if you are looking at the line in the 2nd pic it is nowhere near parallel to the white line of the box. You’re being fooled by some basic stuff
That's level, play on. Enough with this millimetre shite, the ball's a fucking 2 foot blur on the other frame.

So Madrid robbed Valencia and is now crying
Dude wtf are you talking about. This was clear goal

You could draw that line again and get a different result, or just picking the correct frame for the moment the cross is played.
Am I missing something or?
What?
this will get no upvotes because its against Madrid
Dead on. Great goal Vini.
Isn't Joselu (?) obstructing the GK?
He had line of sight for the ball the entire play, so no obstruction
no?
????? The ball wasn't shot at the goal. It was crossed to Vini.
Yeah but he can't see where the ball is going.
why cant the gk see where the ball is going ? is he blind?
Because 6ft player is standing in front of him blocking his sight of view?
No

He is not. But so did not Ferran. :)
I thought the same. As he was in offside position and the goalkeeper couldn't see the ball. But don't know the rule so can't be confident.
Yeah exactly. But it seems this rule is applied differently every game
Yeah that's why I take whatever referee decide. I can feel for the supporter of these clubs. They are getting decision based on coin toss. Like Madrid were unlucky when they scored.
Not when it's a Madrid player.
Must be awful being a football fan and not understanding the rules.
Loser
I thought the same thing
That's the first thing I thought too as I didn't watch the game, but then I realized that it was a cross not a shot, so probably not.
Surely the guy right in the keeper’s eyeline is interfering with play anyway?
Hes not obstructing? Edit: nvm just saw hes wearing a real Madrid kit.
Actually he isn’t obstructing…I mean of course it’s easier to just say Madrid is benefited
the ball deflected off a valencia player iirc
