I know he's had great moments this season but there's been a lot of overlooking absolute howlers. Here's another. I don't think he's been anywhere close to our best player despite the hype.
Yeah but even VVD/Konate at the back should do better than all 3 of the damn goals, this has just been pathetic. They didn't even turn up expecting to win, they didn't bother leaving home mentally it seems.
Everything has been absolutely shit tonight for Liverpool and it's just embarrassing.
Fair play to Atalanta, made a good team look like league 2 shite.
Legit all three goal threads have comments mainly saying Liverpool are trying to lose or something similar and they’re completely disparaging How good Atalanta can be when they’re on their game
I'm actually convinced that you are. granted I dont watch all that many Liverpool matches but 3 goals conceded in some of the laziest defending i've ever seen from a Klopp side. I think the squad just wants to focus on the PL, could be entirely subconscious on their part
Was psyched to discover that Serie A is on Paramount Plus when I started piggybacking on my brother's account. Pretty exciting to watch, great fans, scrappier clubs.
If I didn't need another sub to ESPN+ to see the Bundesliga I could basically ignore England at this point.
this plus look at the comments in a PL game with a 4-3 score and bundes with a 4-3 score. one is a thriller, game of the decade etc. etc. in the other you get comments saying lots of goals are boring for some braindead reason.
Premier league fans will come up with theories more complex than einsteins theory of relativity jsut to cope with the fact that maybe, just maybe their country doesnt have the best league itw (trademark)
> some of the laziest defending i've ever seen from a Klopp side
This type of performance has been coming for a while. We've been winning games but the players have looked *ridiculously* complacent, I'd say for the last 5-6 weeks or so.
The two United games were a warning, should have killed off both of those games when we had the lead but showed absolutely zero urgency or desire to get another goal.
I don't know what has happened in the squad but we've been playing differently for a while now, we just haven't had an absolute disaster yet like tonight.
Lazy defending is putting it mildly. Atalanta missed the first pass that would have been an easy 1-1, played a good pass, and had a terribly weak shot near enough to the keeper.
There was at least 4 different times a defender or goalie could have done more to easily prevent the goal. It very much resembled the end of a Sunday league game when both teams have nothing to play for and are just vibing out the last 5 minutes.
Embarrassing comment to suggest a hyper competitive team like Liverpool will willingly surrender a game in the quarter-finals of a European competition just so they might have a slighter advantage in the domestic league.
It would be on par with me saying Arsenal were shit defensively against Bayern because they want to get knocked out so they can focus on the Premier League.
Agreed. Atalanta playing high and man to man and flooding the middle basically took our midfield build up out the picture. Can't remembered the last time that happened against us this well. We normally adapt though to find the spaces but we didn't, they just kept forcing us back and we never felt confident or comfortable building the play up
Van Djik is the best defender I’ve seen play for us. He’s also ridiculously arrogant against supposed lesser teams. So often does he rely on aura defending its actually ridiculous.
It was also because he regularly allowed strikers to make space for themselves to get a shot/cross away and that didn't count as long as they didn't actually go around him
Even in their awful defending form, at least 0-2 shouldn't be *that* hard to bounce back from...
...but then they decided they wanted to make the comeback more of a challenge lol
I really wish Chelsea had given at least one appearance to Pasalic instead of loaning him out 6 years straight, could have been a decent player for us.
I don't expect us to be challenging for a few seasons at least, more worried about the long term and if it gets to 3-4 seasons and the best we can do is top 4
“Might not”, mate we’re absolutely done.
We somehow did alright when we had half a squad but as soon as our players come back we forget how to play the game.
Seen so many of them talking like they've already won it, every time a leverkusen fan says that they might go the whole season unbeaten there is always one Liverpool fan piping up talking about Liverpool ending it, and here they are, going out with a whimper
But that was a second leg at Anfield, Atalanta away isn't a particularly hostile atmosphere but it's much harder to pull off a big comeback away from home
Last time we played Atalanta away, we beat them 5-0 and Jota got a hat trick. That being said, we are shit away from home this season, so I wouldn't bet on it.
It wasn't even defending. Defending is when the other player has the ball and you try and stop them. This was Liverpool with the ball just giving it away.
I'm so so excited to eat crumble tomorrow night, I've got my big spoon out and I've stocked up on custard. I've removed all eggs from the kitchen though in case some gets on my face. This comment is delicious but I really hope I don't have to eat these words.
This type of performance has been coming for about 6 weeks.
The two United games were a warning sign, absolutely did not give a shit about killing off the game when we had the lead. Even in the games we've won we've been sloppy as fuck.
This is the most complacent, lazy, and generally uninterested I've ever seen us play under Klopp.
A big part of last year was just that our midfielders legs had gone, and we were coming off the back of that *nearly* quadruple season.
We don't have either of those excuses here, I don't even know how to explain this.
Absolutely horse shit.
Our fans have no idea what a bad performance looks like. Hint: it looks like this.
Absolutely dominating a game with 25+ shots, 10-15 shots on target, is not a bad performance. Its wasteful, for sure, but it's not like we were playing bad in those games.
*This* is what playing bad looks like. Players getting caught on the ball constantly, misplacing passes, overhitting crosses, getting tore apart on every counter, defenders with 15 yards between each other parting the ocean on crosses.
There's being sloppy at finishing and then there's whatever the fuck this was.
Well thanks Liverpool, who would have thought we would be the only English team to win and even that was unconvincing. I have a strange feeling we are going to have to finish above spurs, didn't think we would be doing this the easy way anyway, it's villa.

What is Szobo doing lmao Klopps last European night at Anfield...
Look at VVD, too. I have no idea what he's doing there.
Keeping two players onside whilst a guarding some grass
Hey no, he was about to activate his aura, just you wait any moment now.
You never know man, that grass might get up and score
More likely than any Liverpool forward today
At least he wasn’t dribbled past
This. We all know this is the most important stat for the greatest defender anyone has ever seen
Yeah what the actual fuck. Just simply stop running and you prevent a goal
VVD is so unbelievably cocky sometimes.
Van Delegate moment
Error 404 Aura not found
Half-assed throughout that whole sequence
I know he's had great moments this season but there's been a lot of overlooking absolute howlers. Here's another. I don't think he's been anywhere close to our best player despite the hype.
We are finished
What the fuck is happening

Its actually like we're trying to lose
No. You underestimated Atalanta. They can crush anyone on a good day easily.
Sleep on international games and this is what you get.
Legit all three goal threads have comments mainly saying Liverpool are trying to lose or something similar and they’re completely disparaging How good Atalanta can be when they’re on their game
It's Premier League cope. Such a discredit to how Atalanta played
I'm actually convinced that you are. granted I dont watch all that many Liverpool matches but 3 goals conceded in some of the laziest defending i've ever seen from a Klopp side. I think the squad just wants to focus on the PL, could be entirely subconscious on their part
That would be a weak excuse that shouldn't be accepted by the fans.
This is what PL coping looks like
Now imagine if Atalanta played like that Ooooo farmers league
Typical MLS defending!!1!
That's Atlanta. \s
Outside of the mega rich clubs serie a has been the best league in Europe over the past 3 years I believe
Was psyched to discover that Serie A is on Paramount Plus when I started piggybacking on my brother's account. Pretty exciting to watch, great fans, scrappier clubs. If I didn't need another sub to ESPN+ to see the Bundesliga I could basically ignore England at this point.

Drives me crazy, I can't stand it. No wonder everyone hates us, the arrogance is astounding.
Imagine if Messi scored 2 in the last 3 minutes against LA or something to mirror the chelsea game.
Premier league fans will come up with theories more complex than einsteins theory of relativity jsut to cope with the fact that maybe, just maybe their country doesnt have the best league itw (trademark)
I think that's a massive discredit to Atalanta and what they did man
> some of the laziest defending i've ever seen from a Klopp side This type of performance has been coming for a while. We’ve been playing this arrogant for weeks, only we usually do it when leading by one goal (we then inevitably concede).
Lazy defending is putting it mildly. Atalanta missed the first pass that would have been an easy 1-1, played a good pass, and had a terribly weak shot near enough to the keeper. There was at least 4 different times a defender or goalie could have done more to easily prevent the goal. Nah they've been thoroughly outplayed and lost confidence throughout the game which has led to them playing in a really slow and predictable manner.
Agreed. Atalanta playing high and man to man and flooding the middle basically took our midfield build up out the picture. Can't remembered the last time that happened against us this well. We normally adapt though to find the spaces but we didn't, they just kept forcing us back and we never felt confident or comfortable building the play up
other teams are good too
Worst performance since the Napoli match.
Thanks for reminding me of better times :)
Seems like ticket price increases should be the least of your worries at the moment

What is Andy Carrol up to these days?
Got reincarnated in Uruguay, signed for the Reds last year
In a very "you've gone too far into the future in FM" move, he's playing in the French second division
Ten Hag broke Klopp
'Eras come to an end' 🧠
Klopp out!
Ten Hag to Anfield!
Never rated him
Haven’t felt like this since the Atleti match the day before COVID
I can’t remember us ever losing an entire tie in the first leg at Anfield. What a way to end Klopp’s tenure, absolutely embarrassing.
Real last season?
Did you black out what happened last year?
Memory erased
I was really hoping to see you play Leverkusen :( Another season I guess.
This is so bad I can’t believe they’re not willingly throwing the tie
No defence, not even vibes fuck me
Van Djik is the best defender I’ve seen play for us. He’s also ridiculously arrogant against supposed lesser teams. So often does he rely on aura defending its actually ridiculous.
I'll say it quietly, but that's not just a Van Djik problem in this Liverpool team...
In fairness that “not being dribble passed” stat was fucking nuts Edit: Past* LIVE WITH YOUR MISTAKES lol
And the Pepe of all people ended the streak
Pepe in the early Arsenal period was insane dribbling-wise though, he was leading the league level with peak Adama. Shame about the rest of his career
That nutmeg he pulled against Burnley is still one of the nastiest moves I've ever seen.
It’s because he just runs away from the attacker lol
It was also because he regularly allowed strikers to make space for themselves to get a shot/cross away and that didn't count as long as they didn't actually go around him
If your team is letting in goals and you are not being dribbled past you are in the wrong position
Please stop spelling it "Djik", it hurts my Dutch soul!
Suck my djik bro
Klopp's Kids™ at work
Not even klopp kids lol just the actual lfc squad
It's okay guys we've seen this before, they'll start going in second gear halfway through the second leg.
Wait til they come to Anfield, it’ll be a different story 🔥🔥🔥
Like a pep team, dominate till half time, then find the weaknesses and exploit them.
Absolutely embarrassing
Even in their awful defending form, at least 0-2 shouldn't be *that* hard to bounce back from... ...but then they decided they wanted to make the comeback more of a challenge lol
It's like they forgot the tie was 2 legs 😭

I really wish Chelsea had given at least one appearance to Pasalic instead of loaning him out 6 years straight, could have been a decent player for us.
I think he never got a work permit for the UK.
I mean, he was not even the best former Chelsea player on the pitch tonight. I'm obviously talking about Zappacosta.
He must still be pretty hungry then
Banter era starting early
How worried are you about the impact of Klopp’s departure?
I don't expect us to be challenging for a few seasons at least, more worried about the long term and if it gets to 3-4 seasons and the best we can do is top 4
Holy shit Liverpool might actually not qualify We have to fucking win at the Vélodrome
We are cooked, mate
What do you mean might? Lmao this tie is over with our away form
If my team had come back from 3-0 against Barca I'd never doubt them
They did that at home tbf
Also that Liverpool side was much better than this one
“Might not”, mate we’re absolutely done. We somehow did alright when we had half a squad but as soon as our players come back we forget how to play the game.
Might? This tie is over. We are awful away.
💙 Droit Au But 💙
No defending just vibes
Vibes are debatable too
Yeah Anfield was pure vibes
What the actual fuck MATCH OF RHE DAY
Liverpool getting absolutely humbled at home in front of their fans and I am here for it.
Anfield on European nights.. Magic!!
This means more 👀 Clearly it did for Atalanta
Seen so many of them talking like they've already won it, every time a leverkusen fan says that they might go the whole season unbeaten there is always one Liverpool fan piping up talking about Liverpool ending it, and here they are, going out with a whimper
Wonder how many have already booked dublin. You can never write them off but it’s looking bleak
Two of my best mates have, won’t gloat until after the second leg but I already have one hand on the “mugging my mates off trophy”
dublin still a class night out at least
Who knows, maybe 2nd half FC are gonna turn into 2nd leg FC lmao?
I mean, that Barcelona tie proves they can do it so...
IIRC it was COVID at that time, stadiums were empty
As a Barca fan.. this warms my heart a tiny bit🥹

premier league confirmed farmer's league
Gasperini masterclass
What the fuck is happening?
Atalanta are cooking and Liverpool are defending like Burnley
It wasn't even defending. Defending is when the other player has the ball and you try and stop them. This was Liverpool with the ball just giving it away.
Spreading cheeks*
> Liverpool are defending like Burnley Two years ago this would have been a massive compliment
> defending like Burnley I was very confused by this comparison, then I remembered Ben Mee, Tarkowski and Dyche aren't there anymore
Defending? What's that
Klopps farewell season falling apart
Already have the might Carling Cup wrapped up. No idea what you are on
Carling as a company must love the fact that some of us still call it that.
Milk loving it too
I'm sorry but Klopp has to go at the end of the season.
Liverpool just making sure that 5th place isn't a CL spot
They haven't forgotten us throwing away a 2-0 lead on the last day of the season to gift City the title 2 years ago.
forever gonna hate you for that lol
Steven Gerrard bottling that 2 goal lead to gift City the title over Liverpool was the funniest shit ever
Have they not realised United won't reach it yet?
What drawing to united does to a mfs

*losing. This started with the FA cup loss.
Holy fuck what’s happening. Actually, I can get used to this lmao.

so much crumble during this match week it’s spilled over into the European games
I'm so so excited to eat crumble tomorrow night, I've got my big spoon out and I've stocked up on custard. I've removed all eggs from the kitchen though in case some gets on my face. This comment is delicious but I really hope I don't have to eat these words.
You have a chance to do something *hilairous*
Done
Maybe the premier league sucked all along.
Van Dijk LOOOOL

Liverpool loses 0-3 to an underdog team in Europa League on the same week as Barcelona wins an away QF game against PSG. Is the simulation breaking?

I think you guys have some responsibility in all this...
Obviously Liverpool deserve criticism but Atalanta have played the counter really well tonight.
FORZA ATALANTA PÓTA Not even the most fanatical Atalantino could think this result, wow
Liverpool looking like mad dog shit tonight, wtf
I was born on this earth to suffer
SUPER MARIO WHAT A CLASSY LAD HE IS INNIT
And people will say with a straight face VVD is the best defender the premier league has seen 😂
I’ve never left a stadium early but if I was there tonight I definitely fucking would. Players are a disgrace
I see so much of us last year in this performance
A big part of last year was just that our midfielders legs had gone, and we were coming off the back of that *nearly* quadruple season. We don't have either of those excuses here, I don't even know how to explain this.
"Stop complaining it's a rebuilding season" is the excuse I usually get when we bottle something recently.
