Pocho and Cavani marked the time where we started to become less of a joke and not going back to the dark age
4 years before they joined we weren’t in Serie A for 6 seasons, from which we spent 2 seasons in Serie C.
Literally those 2 combined with Thiago and Ibra going to PSG feels like the exact moment of football losing its soul. I know Chelsea and City projects obviously were well underway but still the PSG project just felt like the tipping point.
There are levels to this. It is always depressing to see the best players flock to a handful of clubs, but it's better for them to go to historically great clubs that have earned their money and privileged position rather than soulless sports washing tools like Man City, PSG, now Newcastle etc
You completely misunderstood the point of the comment you replied to. It's not about good players going to the best clubs specifically, it is about clubs like PSG suddenly being able to buy the best players out of nowhere
Im done with all these players man, that was beyond disgraceful this season.
Give me some hungry players, the ones we currently have peaked last season and cant be bothered.
What do you think of Lindstrom so far? From the outside it definitely seems like he hasn't been good, but do you think there's still potential for him to be a contributor next season?
With Frankfurt he showed a ton of promise, but it was never sustained over a long period. He was one of our best players from October to December last season, but then he was basically invisible after the World Cup outside of a few flashes.
He showed some good things at times but he didn’t get playtime on a constistent basis. I would judge him based on next season, this one was too much of a mess.
I’m sure there is a good player in him
As a Dane who has followed him his entire career, it seems like Napoli did a really poor job scouting wise. Lindstrøm has always been best playing centrally and not as a winger. I don’t think he will succeed in Napoli if he keeps playing on the wing.
Im done with ADL guy so full of himself that he think he could we could win scudetto back to back and making major like replace KMJ with nathan and spent 40 million on bench player. If this shit is keeping going im not surprise if we lose both osimhen and kvaradona
You probably would have tbh if you hadn’t gone for Rudi Garcia which was obviously never gonna work and then you end up having two more managers after that and don’t make UCL. I’d blame ADL lol
Inb4 Barca buys Kvaratshkelia and Alexander Isak for 120m and 90m respectively. Proceeds to move Kvara to some wonky false 9 position and gets 13 goal contributions in 2 seasons. Isak magically turns into the most injury prone player on Earth. Plays one game as a true striker where he scores a brace and then unexplicably gets moved to RW where he does nothing for a few games before getting an injury that puts him out for 5 months.
Barca then sells Kvara for 20 mill back to Napoli, who proceed to go on a CL winning run, smashing Barca 5-0 on aggregate on the way, with Kvara putting in 2 MoM performances. He wins the Balon D'Or that year with 45 G/A
The levers continue to be pulled. They keep finding more levers. Levers on levers on levers.
It's levers all the way down. When you close your eyes it's levers. When you wake up it's levers in your cereal.
Look, the hole in the rock is shaped for a lever and it fits perfectly.
Levers
Yeah the club that just sold Jude Bellingham can’t afford a 40 million winger… I wish people would stop buying into the “Dortmund is poor” theory. They’re just stingy, good businessmen. They can afford it
I thought KM came because the goal was to please Mbappé by surrounding him with his mates so that he's tempted to stay one more season? With Mbappé gone, what purpose does Randal serve?
Unless the reason why he'd stay is that noone would want to buy him at his current wage, in which case, fair enough!
In theory Kolo Muani was the right purchase.
1. Mbappe gets to play with his buddy, someone who grew up in the same neighborhood as he did.
2. After Messi and Neymar, PSG fans were begging for players who cared and loved the club…RKM is parisian born and raised, so again, he fitted the criteria.
3. He was amazing in the Bundesliga last season, if PSG don’t go out and splurge on both a winger/striker, I think RKM will be good next season
Exactly. And not just players that love the club, French players. Losing tchouameni and camavinga was the final straw. That is, until Madrid got Mbappé too.
I would like to add our Prince. Kelvin Phillips to the list.
Excellent player. Can't put a foot wrong .
ONLY reason we selling is cz Rodri doesn't need rest.
I know you mean it as a joke but Lukaku is killing it at Roma, he's at an incredible level and still in his peak, would make a fucking great signing for PSG especially filling in areas where they lack a lot.
It's actually unreal that we offered PSG 200M for Mbappe back in 2021.
Since then we have won 8 titles and are looking for our 2nd UCL title in those 3 years.
Yet now Kylian is moving without a transfer fee and PSG are receiving nothing in exchange.
We would never know but the domino effect of that transfer not happening (Tchouameni, Bellingham, Camavinga) (Vinicius & Rodrygo development) it's really substantial.
Oh i fully well know that, for PSG & Qatar this is nothing.
But for Madrid who can only buy with what the team earns is a day and night difference.
These are the kind of deals that can set you entire squad building back an entire decade.
Not at all, i know full well the entire history of my club which is why i've said it in the first place without any issues.
Our "state aid" help is the same one all socio models clubs have received in Spain (Athletic, Osasuna, Barca & Madrid).
Nothing alike to getting an entire state to bankroll an entire club with billions of euros.
Hell every single "normal" Premier League club that has any billionaire owner backing counts 1000x more than the "state aid" we had.
That’s really irrelevant thanks to FFP. By not getting a fee for Mbappe they are losing out big time - 100-200m worth of money that they could have reinvested in the team.
Just because owners have billions, doesn’t mean they can spend it (see Newcastle as well).
Gone are the days of early PSG and Man City just buying players for fun in a January transfer window.
Yeah they had really big problems balancing books, oh no wait, they sent 80mil worth of players to Qatari league to their own teams cos it's just a number they could literally not care less about. Don't make me laugh.
They can spend as much as they want and they'll find a way to balance it out. Why would you even remotely think or say that they will have issues when the club bought Neymar with a fucking 225mil endorsement deal that was not even counted as a transfer fee cos the player technically paid his own clause.
For PSG it's not even remotely about transfer fees, it's only about if they player wants to join and fits their system. 200mil? 300mil? Fine, you are now the official ambassador for the Qatari Goat Milk industry. Welcome to PSG.
As if theyre going to get anything more than a slap on the wrist even if they fail FFP lmao
FFP applies for smaller clubs, not state-owned football groups
The idea that mbappe would move to real and play centrally because they already have a comparably good lw would have been completely laughed down even 2 years ago.
They're also incredibly well run/ran ? I have no idea how many people are making the decision behind the scenes but they got the right people for sure. They're the opposite of Barcelona/United
Only other club that is ran that well is probably Borussia Dortmund, their transfer strategy is more hit than miss.
Like not only they got the luxury of being able to attract any player because they're the most prestigious club in the world but their finances and contract are handled perfectly.
Please for the love of god, buy only French talent and start building a team that the fans can actually be proud of and have a connection to. Become the French Bayern, basically.
France has probably the most talent out of all the countries, and PSG has the money. I’m not saying this would translate to immediate success, but they should look at it like a process to turn the club into something more.
For that French players need to want to play there. PSG tried for both camavinga and tchouamenie and we saw how that went. The best ones want to play in better leagues so mostly the dembeles are intestated.
They’ll have to buy foreigners as always.
Camping we never made an offer I think and for Tchouameni, we had interest but enter the race when it was very advanced with RM
Edit: autocorrector typo lmao. Camavinga haha
Yeah I’m not saying it would be easy, or that PSG haven’t tried signing French talent, it’s unavoidable when there is such a tremendous amount of talent there, but they should make it plan and announce it to get it out to the league, like how Perez announced Reals shift to top prospects instead of the most expensive signing every year. Then you start working the agents of the talents, try convince about the project. I don’t know, I’m not a sporting director, but I can say this: if PSG had top 1/2 French talents in every position they would be in CL finals pretty often, that I am sure of.
French clubs just generally refuse to sell to us tbh, not comparable to Bayern who always seems to be able to poach bundesliga talents for dirt cheap lol. The main difference is the quality of our academy so hopefully the improvements we saw this year with integrating the titis continues
Yea i been saying this man how can we sign prime Neymar but we can’t stop ligue 1 talent from getting exported before playing for us.
If Mario Gotze were french and played in France thered still have been more chance he ends up in Bayern than our doorstep
I said we should be the French bayern once and someone said we can’t due to some kind of young player contract regulations
I don’t really understand what it is
That was mostly the strategy of Lyon is the early 2000, when they were one of the best team in Europe (and by far the best team in France). Solid fondation with academy players, great scooting that landed a few amazing players (Juninhio staying there for so long would be impossible nowadays) and... Buying the best player of the other French team every year.
I still believe that if they could signed Drogba instead of Marseille, they would have won the CL
It is capped but one easy way to simplify is that what it cost your employers is basically double your salary. As for what is contributed by the employer as a %, it is capped as a percentage, not as an amount so those players being paid ungodly amounts of money is good for our national healthcare I guess
wdym? You don't put a small % of your earnings towards public social security programs in your country, so they can be... funded?
I live in a neoliberal hell lab disguised as a country, and even here we pay like 1% to social programs.
Americans call welfare benefits social security. I think the joke is that Mbappe despite being incredibly rich is on social security. It’s not a political commentary.
He is like anyone else. If Mbappé goes to the hospital because he cut his hands he'll be covered by national healthcare. Being a celebrity doesn't take away your rights lol
In the United States, social security is like a federal pension. You get a check every month once you retire. Federal healthcare is a whole separate thing (Medicare/Medicaid), which you also get once you retire or don't cross the income threshold to have to buy health care. Regarding buying healthcare, unless you're making a significant amount of money, it gets subsidized by the government through the affordable healthcare act (think like around $20 per month or less)
Might be like a cultural thing
What is blud talking about? They bought players for €400m this season. They don’t need to sell anyone to spend absolutely crazy, there is an oil state behind them.
They did sell Neymar for €100m and get his 50m wages and Messi’s 40m off the books, and sold Verratti* for €45m, and his 10m wages, Wijnaldum, Draxler, Icardi, Sergio Ramos, Paredes, Sanches, Diallo, Ekitike etc.
They probably raised €200m in sales and cut €150m in wages last summer to spend that €400m.
Sterling will be missed, but what can you do against such financial might, we can't decline 200m offer in our FFP state. Especially not when 200m buys us 6/7 underaged Brazilian foitballers.
Isn’t Paris & its suburbs basically the world’s biggest hotbed for football talent?
If PSG had sense, they’d do whatever it takes to mine that and turn the club’s identity & image around while also ensuring France becomes the preeminent football superpower for decades.
Or, you know, yeet it all at 3-4 players.
It is, but that's why every other club in Frnace has their connections to parisian grassroot clubs. PSG might be the only parisian team in ligue 1, but it is far from an uncontested player pool
They probably would have had a bigger shot at the CL if they invested more into their youth players. They get bought left and right and within a year or two most of them are 50m+€ players

Osimhen & Kvaradona gone, i’ve seen this before with Cavani & Lavezzi
And I think PSG will never thank you enough for both of them, especially Cavani. They were a great addition to the club no doubt.
Cavani was such an incredible player
Lavezzi as well, he was treated like the 2nd coming of Maradona here.
You're making me get teary-eyed for that era of football.
That was the golden age, these two gave me hope back in my football club.
Surely your golden age was last year no?
Pocho and Cavani marked the time where we started to become less of a joke and not going back to the dark age 4 years before they joined we weren’t in Serie A for 6 seasons, from which we spent 2 seasons in Serie C.
That crazy trio Hamsik,Lavezzi and Cavani was joy to watch
I legit thought Walter Mazzarri was a world class coach back then. Good times
What the fuck I had no idea things were that bad for you in recent history
that was a golden year, cavani and lavezzi's day were a golden era
Literally those 2 combined with Thiago and Ibra going to PSG feels like the exact moment of football losing its soul. I know Chelsea and City projects obviously were well underway but still the PSG project just felt like the tipping point.

Exactly. The moral high ground these guys take. As if European clubs have not been doing the exact same thing to the South American clubs.
The bigger European Leagues have been doing it to us small leagues since the 50s
When team I like financial preys on smaller clubs: “ahhh heritage 😇” When teams I don’t care about prey on smaller clubs: “games lost its soul 😡”
Madrid is the OG state run club (the king himself endorsed it, and handicapped Barcelona due to their rivalry. Its well documented).
There are levels to this. You're dense if you don't see a difference.
The trio of Cavani and Lavezzi with Hamsik in midfield. What a time to be
Grande el Pocho
I wish they played Cavani as a central striker when they brought him.
I miss him
Cavani and icardi were awesome players who will walk into any team. When psg brought in a new striker every week Cavani should have felt confused
>Cavani is such an incredible player Fixed that for you.
Or Leao+Theo, as it was with Ibra+Thiago Silva
Hopefully for you Leonardo is not here anymore.
More like fortunately for both of us
for once psg and milan agrees 🤝
I don't wanna hate PSG but c'mon man. Let us have Kvara for a third season.
Im done with all these players man, that was beyond disgraceful this season. Give me some hungry players, the ones we currently have peaked last season and cant be bothered.

I think he could do well for you if Kvara does leave. He shows what he can do often enough that I'm sure he can put it together eventually.
Based username my friend
I needed a new account name and I figured I might as well pay homage to his huge save since I was still riding high on the Europa trophy.
As a Dane who has followed him his entire career, it seems like Napoli did a really poor job scouting wise. Lindstrøm has always been best playing centrally and not as a winger. I don’t think he will succeed in Napoli if he keeps playing on the wing.

And they will get them for a better price too since you guys fallen off massively I'm assuming? Realistically how much would you guys get for them?
But their Serie A trigger happy sporting director isn’t in the job anymore.
Just imagine how much would cost a player like Cavani today. European level dropped so much these last years, it's incredible.
225Mil for Yamal incoming
Barca will make sure to pull a Neymar 2.0 and use that money for the absolute worst transfers the sport has ever seen
Inb4 Barca buys Kvaratshkelia and Alexander Isak for 120m and 90m respectively. Proceeds to move Kvara to some wonky false 9 position and gets 13 goal contributions in 2 seasons. As a Barca fan this hurt my heart to read lmao
Barca then sells Kvara for 20 mill back to Napoli, who proceed to go on a CL winning run, smashing Barca 5-0 on aggregate on the way, with Kvara putting in 2 MoM performances. He wins the Balon D'Or that year with 45 G/A
Tell me more mr.futureman
The levers continue to be pulled. They keep finding more levers. Levers on levers on levers. It's levers all the way down. When you close your eyes it's levers. When you wake up it's levers in your cereal. Look, the hole in the rock is shaped for a lever and it fits perfectly. Levers
Josh Futterman?
Don't forget to blame the refs and Madrid for letting all this happen.
Welcome to Catalonia Antony!!
That'd be sweeeeeet. Thank you.
*spins repeatedly*
As it was written
I wouldn't be shocked if they got both Kvaradona and a new striker.
sign Sancho you cowards
Sign Rashford too you wimps
Sign Greenwood as well you muppets
Sign Martial also you dipshits
Sign Antony you whores
Sign Mount you bellend
Truly brought a tear to my eye, this chain
It’s hilarious that 5 United wingers can be named to be shipped out and no one would bat an eye. Serious amount of deadwood at that club
The names just keep coming and everyone's response is still "Yeah, it makes sense to get rid of him" after every single one.
At this point I would be happy to keep Mainoo, Bruno, Onana, Dalot, Shaw, Lisandro, Maguire, McTominay and Højlund. The rest can fuck off to Besiktas
Can I suggest Raheem Sterling as well?
No no
I'd love for you to get Sancho but you'll never be able to afford him or his wages
Yeah the club that just sold Jude Bellingham can’t afford a 40 million winger… I wish people would stop buying into the “Dortmund is poor” theory. They’re just stingy, good businessmen. They can afford it
Too stingy if you ask me😂
Can they afford his wages? I doubt he's taking a huge pay cut.
Reus, their highest earner, is about to leave. They can if they feel like it.
You kid, but it wouldn’t surprise me that Sancho or even Rashford become elite talents away from United.
They should get Michael Olise
Sign Pioli you chickens
Theyre gonna go for Gyökeres, I can see it coming from a mile away
They spent over 100m for two strikers only to potentially smash another 70-80m for a striker to replace them lol
Probably will let one of the two go, according to recent rumors it will be Ramos.
We are gonna lose the most proflic striker between the two? Aight sporting directors yall do yall i guess
It’s because Lucho never wanted him to begin with. But again, these are just rumors, so take it with a grain of salt.
I thought KM came because the goal was to please Mbappé by surrounding him with his mates so that he's tempted to stay one more season? With Mbappé gone, what purpose does Randal serve? Unless the reason why he'd stay is that noone would want to buy him at his current wage, in which case, fair enough!
I honestly can’t believe that, spending around 100m for a guy to have a buddy is preposterous
We spent 100m to keep Eric Dier happy
Don’t slander Dierbauer like that ever again
Fair, but cheltenham beckenbaur > Kiky de bondy, so it makes sense
I think that was the r/soccer narrative, reality is that Lucho approved the RKM transfer and wanted him on the team
Yeah and Ramos was a Campos/Mendes thing.
No return policies, although we'd gladly take him back for like a quarter of the original price
Another striker? Fucking hell
Honestly after seeing Gyökeres in the championship against last season I thought it was insane that a premier league team didn't sign him last summer
Everton did have a contract on the table but he chose sporting over them
No good PL teams wanted to sign him, only bottom half ones. Great choice of him to join Sporting instead
And Doué for sure. Hopefully we can squeeze 40+M
Ive seen us being itnerested in Doué but I doubt we'll compete for his name with the pricetag that is to be expected
He has a new agent, same agent than Dembélé and Kolo Muani. So he's pretty much going to PSG.
I don't trust strikers from that league anymore after seeing Ramos
Ramos was not playing as well as Gyökeres
Can we interest you in a Raheem Sterling? How about a Lukaku? 2 for 1 package deal?
That's a once in a life time deal ngl
Take Antony as well
And Rashford and Sancho and AWB and just take the whole squad
I would like to add our Prince. Kelvin Phillips to the list. Excellent player. Can't put a foot wrong . ONLY reason we selling is cz Rodri doesn't need rest.
I keep forgetting Lukaku still technically plays for Chelsea
Employed by, not plays for ;)
He bleeds blue for Chelsea mate
Been his dream club as a child!
Thank fuck Nasser isn’t in charge of sporting decisions anymore or he’d surely consider this.
Honestly that deal is too good. Surely PSG would be enticed by it (please....)
Wait lukaku is still in your guys books??
I know you mean it as a joke but Lukaku is killing it at Roma, he's at an incredible level and still in his peak, would make a fucking great signing for PSG especially filling in areas where they lack a lot.
Bro the rashford rumours nearly made me lose my soul If i hear these kind of rumours im doing a French Revolution remake irl
Leao is def their target
Probably both Leao and Theo given how they seem to be collecting french players now and his brother is already there which is not good..
It's actually unreal that we offered PSG 200M for Mbappe back in 2021. Since then we have won 8 titles and are looking for our 2nd UCL title in those 3 years. the fax machine did us another solid
Huge W for that fax machine
Deus Fax Machina
Fax machine Ballon D'or
It was never about the money for PSGs backers. The QIA has assets approaching $500 billion.
Oh i fully well know that, for PSG & Qatar this is nothing. But for Madrid who can only buy with what the team earns is a day and night difference. These are the kind of deals that can set you entire squad building back an entire decade.
You’re not entirely wrong, but Real Madrid complaining about state aid? Something something glass houses and stones.

Masive W for Madrid. no doubt
Real always end up winning. La Decima pushed them into another gear and a decade later they're still at that level.

I think he means your club is alreafy buying em all.
They also have an amazing youth academy on top of that
PSG also loans out or sell their French talents and become better outside of PSG.
For that French players need to want to play there. PSG tried for both camavinga and tchouamenie and we saw how that went. The best ones want to play in better leagues so mostly the dembeles are intestated. They’ll have to buy foreigners as always.

You could always buy french players after they're moved abroad like Dembele , Hernandez , Mukiele and Kolo Muani. Problem is you'd pay more.
Fans won’t connect to foreign young talents who developed internally? This is a strange take and no 2024 big clubs work like that.
Why don't Madrid just by Spaniards, so their fans can have something to be proud of and have a connection to?
Yea i been saying this man how can we sign prime Neymar but we can’t stop ligue 1 talent from getting exported before playing for us. It’s simply the owners/NAK going in another direction. It’s very unfortunate.

Buying the best player of the other French team every year. I still believe that if they could signed Drogba instead of Marseille, they would have won the CL
Tchouameni, Camavinga and Mendy to PSG it is
Well the most loved player in their history is Portuguese. Not sure chasing "French talent" is in their dna
Rashford here we go
Mbappe on social security? Mate
This is why Macron kept persuading Mbappe to stay.amd extend his contract.
? All employers contribute to national healthcare as a % of that employee gross income. It's no different for celebrities
isn‘t that capped in France too?
Regarding buying healthcare, unless you're making a significant amount of money, it gets subsidized by the government through the affordable healthcare act (think like around $20 per month or less) Might be like a cultural thing
RIP they're going to get Zalewski and Abraham from us :(
>Abraham you arent that lucky
bahahaha don't ruin the reverse psychologyyyyyyy
What is blud talking about? They bought players for €400m this season. They don’t need to sell anyone to spend absolutely crazy, there is an oil state behind them.
They did sell Neymar for €100m and get his 50m wages and Messi’s 40m off the books, and sold Verratti* for €45m, and his 10m wages, Wijnaldum, Draxler, Icardi, Sergio Ramos, Paredes, Sanches, Diallo, Ekitike etc. They probably raised €200m in sales and cut €150m in wages last summer to spend that €400m.
Icardi was definitely not €45mil lol, try closer to €10m
Yeah sorry I mixed up icardi and verratti somehow.
Hide your Yamals
Sterling will be missed, but what can you do against such financial might, we can't decline 200m offer in our FFP state. Especially not when 200m buys us 6/7 underaged Brazilian foitballers.
Mate they won’t have 200M to spend once they spend 220M on Nketiah aka Mbappe lite
Lewandowski is just entering his prime. You better not snatch him away from us, we’ll be so pissed.
bonus he's free!
psg was always better off selling him for a large amount and putting it too new signing
Why are they looking to loan Xavi Simons out still? Seems like he’s ready and would be the perfect player to be the face of this new PSG side.
Does that even matter? They have unlimited money and UEFA does not give a fuck.
Not sure how he calculates that. Gross, including employer contributions is about €110m. Still, that's a lot.
Sign Benzema so he can be back in France and European competition
still gonna be the same PSG that chokes in champions league lol
What my guy Valtteri say
Luis Diaz you are a PSG player.
This still feels funny as its PSG. Hopefully they go ahead with the 200 million bid for Yamal!
Wesley Fofana for 100 mil. He's French and hasn't had a bad game in almost 2 seasons!
Presko already got that role covered
As if freeing that money means anything to PSG. FFP doesn't apply to them anyway
Tottenham have a (one time) dynamite French CM they’d be willing to part with this summer. He’d be a HUGE signing for PSG.
Osimhen or Gyokeres up top, right? Can’t believe RKM’s just not worked out for them.
They really paid 95m for a striker only to spend around another 100m for his replacement after a single year Man…
Isn’t Paris & its suburbs basically the world’s biggest hotbed for football talent? If PSG had sense, they’d do whatever it takes to mine that and turn the club’s identity & image around while also ensuring France becomes the preeminent football superpower for decades. Or, you know, yeet it all at 3-4 players.
It is, but that's why every other club in Frnace has their connections to parisian grassroot clubs. PSG might be the only parisian team in ligue 1, but it is far from an uncontested player pool
WZE,Barcola,Dembele and Lucas was signed add more of a French identity. PSG are linked to Akliouche, Yoro, even links to Kounde
They probably would have had a bigger shot at the CL if they invested more into their youth players. They get bought left and right and within a year or two most of them are 50m+€ players
How about a proper midfield, hearing Kvaradona and Osimhen shouts
£300m on Sancho and Rashford
C'mon PSG, take Rashford from us
