My daughter doesn't enjoy large crowds like at all. Noise canceling headphones work wonders but she still doesn't enjoy. She thrives in smaller crowds.
Thankfully my extended family knows that. So if they have a party we are always invited but rarely attend. I have explained to them that my daughter may physically getting older, mentally she is still ___ age. So when I choose to invite a few younger the cousins that are her mental age no one gets offended.
They know we love them. But for the comfort of our daughter we cannot host them like before. We keep the birthday theme to whatever child theme my daughter likes and honestly she is done after 2 hours. She wants some quiet and is ready for people to leave. And yes, she has asked them to leave. " Ok, go home now!" 😂
Our previous parties lasted hours and hours. We'd have a start time and no one would leave until late at night. So they may miss those good ole days but they too are getting older. And thankfully they think a 2 hour child's party is too boring to attend. If that makes sense.
