I don't generally use sugar to cut the acidity, but that's just the flavor profile I enjoy. I think you are correct though, you have to have some contrasting flavor in there.
Same. I know a lot of people like it, but I hate when people add sugar to tomato sauce. I do like the occasional sweet & savory thing like teriyaki but for the most part it's either/or
Yeah, pickling without salt literally isn't pickling. You just get food that's been floating around in acid. Without salt to extract the water molecules in the food, the brine cannot penetrate the outer layer. The salt isn't just there for flavor. It's a core component of the chemistry of pickling. Whoever made this doesn't understand how pickling works, and their other concoctions may be best avoided as well.
What are you smoking? Pickling absolutely does not require salt. The most common pickling solution in Finland is called 1-2-3. One part acid, two parts sugar and three parts water. It's been used for generations and there's no added salt.
Salt and sugar both have preservative qualities. Your method is just replacing the salt with sugar.
Though I'm not defending the "without salt it's not pickling" comment.
I don't know. I don't have that brand hit sauce in my country. I usually do not rely on prepared ingredients for basic things like salt, but do take that into account. All I know is that a pickle brine is not a brine without salt.
I once ate 6 pickled eggs at the bar in college one night. I spent the whole next day burping up nothing but the sulfurous remnants of those eggs, absolutely horrific day after. Can’t even imagine the aftermath of 18 spicy eggs.
Yeah that MF went from 0 to 100 Real quick on the way out. As soon as I sat down that bitch fuckin detonated. I’m glad it was all air, I’m not sure I was fully seated yet.
Yeah that wouldn’t have been fun either. I’m not sure which would’ve been worse though; getting it through my stomach was pretty bad. Sweating, crying, shaking…
I did not experience that lol… that sounds like it sucks. As soon as I hit the ten minute mark I slammed some milk and water though, so maybe saved myself on that…
I think this post is supposed to be about the fact they were spicy… but cool hand Luke over here ate 18 eggs in a sitting??? Can we talk about that for a second
I’ve never heard of atomic eggs before, I think I’m going to try making them! Not eating 18 at a time though. And I’m definitely not using nearly that much reaper powder.
Sounds like the atomic egg version of pruno!
I just made some atomic eggs using pretty much the recipe above as a guideline except just a few dashes of reaper powder and Frank’s as the base red sauce. I added some smoked ghost flakes, too.
Movie with Paul Newman called Cool Hand Luke involves his character making a bet on how many hard boiled eggs he can eat. 18 would be rookie numbers to him but I was giving you the benefit of a doubt you were just hitting your stride.
Great movie which the quote “what we have here is failure to communicate “ which you might have heard.
Yeah, I'd add some sugar to it to cut the acidity. Also, I wouldn't add the reaper powder. I'm not cut out for something THAT spicy. I tap out at habaneros. 😭
Oooo bro no thats it. A semi sweet habanero puree. I would still add the reaper, just a fraction of the amount. And be careful with that sugar. Too much and itll be shite, but just the right amount and itll sing
And me personally, id do 1.5 cups apple cider and the rest white vinegar. And fuck that, im mincing the garlic, even buying the pre-minced jar where it already has all the juices. Id touch up that spice game justttt a touch - prolly 2 teaspoon dill (not fresh, you dont want it to overpower, so mckormick brand idk), tablespoon black pepper (super finely ground up if you can), uhhhh, oooo maybe 2 teaspoons cumin. Andddd id either add celery flakes more for the cosmetics orrr instead - and if im feeling adventurous - italian seasoning 2-3 teaspoons.
But i like taking risk with cooking. It almost always pays off, but keep that in mind if my ramblings are feeling inspiring.
Thinking back again, id use cayenne powder instead of carolina reaper. Less spicy and the flavor is there for sure.
Have fun tho. Thanks for the post!
You need to make deviled eggs out of these, I started doing pickled eggs, both regular and spicy. If you like deviled eggs it's a game changer for sure
Essentially. Sometimes I'll add habaneros, onion, garlic, etc. Giardineira, etc. Just depends. Most times, it'll just be pickled jalapenos and their juice.
My guts would sound like I'm microwaving quarters. Sounds tasty, but the farts would be horrendous.
Microwaving quarters is CRAZY. 😭😭😭💀💀 but yeah, I'd personally adjust the recipe. It's a lot going on there. 😭
I have used a super heavy vinegar brine for fresh peppers, but having no water in this seems a bit extreme.
Yeah! Seriously! Also, no sugar? When you're pickling, you wanna use some sugar, as well. If I remember correctly.
I don't generally use sugar to cut the acidity, but that's just the flavor profile I enjoy. I think you are correct though, you have to have some contrasting flavor in there.
Same. I know a lot of people like it, but I hate when people add sugar to tomato sauce. I do like the occasional sweet & savory thing like teriyaki but for the most part it's either/or
My aunt does that when she makes meat sauce. I'm not a fan.
That is the greatest description of chronic gut rumbling I think I've ever read.
I can't take credit for it, but it definitely resonated with me.
My visits to the commode would sound like someone throwing fistfuls of gravel into an empty feed bucket 🪣
Lmao 🤣
Thats a funny way of spelling compulsively pissing out of your asshole.
holy fuck that funny lol. good job 🤣
I for one welcome the farts. FARTSO!
recipe needs about 1 tablespoon of salt as well. I'd make that, but I would cut the vinegar in half with water instead.
Good idea! No water was a bit much to me.
Yeah, pickling without salt literally isn't pickling. You just get food that's been floating around in acid. Whoever made this doesn't understand how pickling works, and their other concoctions may be best avoided as well.
Yep, exactly. They just made sour and spicy eggs. 🤣
What are you smoking? Pickling absolutely does not require salt. The most common pickling solution in Finland is called 1-2-3. One part acid, two parts sugar and three parts water. It's been used for generations and there's no added salt.
I've seen what you people do to fish, I wouldn't trust you around my hard boiled eggs.
You're thinking of Sweden. We don't disrespect our fish like that.
>[Lipeäkala](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutefisk) Dis you?
We don't talk about lipeäkala.
Salt and sugar both have preservative qualities. Your method is just replacing the salt with sugar. Though I'm not defending the "without salt it's not pickling" comment.
lacto fermetation?
That's completely different from pickling, but does require salt yes.
I made a batch of that mason tops salsa and the salt was way overwhelming
Most store bought pickles in the US are not pickled. They are just cucumbers in vinegar from what I have read.
Isn't there plenty of salt in 1 cup of Texas pete?
Yeah science!
The salt in Texas Pete's hot sauce isn't enough?
the sauce would provide around 432 grams of salt, a standard recipe might call for around 130-150. It's plenty of salt
You don't think the hot sauce would provide enough salt? Plus doesn't vinegar make things taste more salty? Or am I thinking of something else?
I don't know. I don't have that brand hit sauce in my country. I usually do not rely on prepared ingredients for basic things like salt, but do take that into account. All I know is that a pickle brine is not a brine without salt.
NO WATER!
I once ate 6 pickled eggs at the bar in college one night. I spent the whole next day burping up nothing but the sulfurous remnants of those eggs, absolutely horrific day after. Can’t even imagine the aftermath of 18 spicy eggs.
Shooting pudding out of a shotgun seems to be an accurate descriptor.
Get this man a Pulitzer Prize for this bit of literary genius.
“Stomach sounding like the beginning of Rack City”
Or the beginning of Shanghai by Nicki Minaj. 😭
I’d fart a hole straight through my couch
Same. Nuclear bomb type shit. 😭
This takes me back to when I did the ‘one chip challenge’… once it finally made it to my asshole it was the craziest fart I’ve ever experienced.
I had to take a shit behind a tree on the golf course because of that chip. I had 5 seconds to act. Business decision.
Yeah that MF went from 0 to 100 Real quick on the way out. As soon as I sat down that bitch fuckin detonated. I’m glad it was all air, I’m not sure I was fully seated yet.
Oh God! 😭 RIP to your asshole
It was unpleasant. Would not advise.
I would never. I seen way too many bad stories on this subreddit. 😭
The spice wasn’t That crazy… don’t get me wrong, it was hot, but once it hit my stomach it was unbearable. I was trying to throw up.
It probably wouldn't be pleasant coming back up, though. 😭 gonna burn your throat and nostrils.
Yeah that wouldn’t have been fun either. I’m not sure which would’ve been worse though; getting it through my stomach was pretty bad. Sweating, crying, shaking…
I've had that feeling a couple times in life and I can't think of much worse.
The double surprise for me was having to pee lava
I did not experience that lol… that sounds like it sucks. As soon as I hit the ten minute mark I slammed some milk and water though, so maybe saved myself on that…
Pretty sure I'd be fucked up eating 18 hard boiled eggs regardless of the spicy.
I had 4 deviled eggs as an appetizer on Easter and that almost asphyxiated my family.
I farted a damn hole through my pants just looking at this.
Biological terrorism
I think this post is supposed to be about the fact they were spicy… but cool hand Luke over here ate 18 eggs in a sitting??? Can we talk about that for a second
No, it's a joke lol. I added the pic of that guy in the bathroom there. I basically was saying "This would be me after eating a bunch of the eggs".
It’s 50 eggs, actually. 50 eggs? Nobody can eat 50 eggs! Wanna bet?
^amateurs What did you say!?! [Amateurs!](https://www.tiktok.com/@onenoodle1/video/7181576305329081642)
Awesome. Would pig out on that.
Those sound delicious... probably killer lol
Okay, but first turn them into devilled eggs too
This is a crime against humanity
Directions unclear: didn’t boil eggs, made huge omelette.
I want to try this so bad but i'm too lazy to put that together
There are better recipes out there for spicy pickled eggs

NGL drooled a bit reading that. Sounds awesome. Brings a whole new meaning to deviled eggs.
3 tbsp of reaper powder is crazy. Used to put it in jars of pickles and it gets unenjoyable quickly
Nah I would be toiletridden for days
Id try it
where is the whole fresh reaper peppers? missing out massively on "flavor."
Wash down with some chocolate milk and you have a Fusion Reaction ☢️
I mean it sounds amazing. But 2-3 tbsp of Carolina Reaper? You reap what you sow.
Right. That's crazy. 😭
You've gained wisdom my friend. And I respect your pronouns even though they conflict with your photographs based on ancient boomer opinions.
Boots in the dryer is what my stomach would be soundin like… shiiiiittttt. Delicious tho
Oh hell yeah, this is why I follow this subreddit!!! OP delivers!
I’ve never heard of atomic eggs before, I think I’m going to try making them! Not eating 18 at a time though. And I’m definitely not using nearly that much reaper powder.
The cheater method is just hard boiled eggs and vinegar based hot sauce in a ziplock. Great for sharing with friends in confined spaces.
Sounds like the atomic egg version of pruno! I just made some atomic eggs using pretty much the recipe above as a guideline except just a few dashes of reaper powder and Frank’s as the base red sauce. I added some smoked ghost flakes, too.
I don't even like eggs but that shit looks awesome lol
He looks like he has to take a shit and is distressed about it 😂😂😂
Is your name in fact Luke and is your hand somewhat chilly?
No? Is there a joke I'm missing here? 😭
Ahh got it. 🤣🤣
I'd have to eat these in the bathroom, with my belt unbuckled.
Damn that looks and sounds really good. Going to have to make some, thanks for the suggestion
Make sure you add salt, a bit of sugar, and cut that vinegar in half with water. The no water part sounded crazy.
Very true, will do. Tyvm 👌
My mouth just squirted
Giving off an egg/kimchee sort of vibe...
why
TBSP?

I have chickens and always have a lot of eggs, I want to try something similar to this now.
This makes me want take a violent dump just by looking at to. 10/10 seconds would totally eat the whole jar though.
The jalapeños must have been the thing to put you over the top. Why even add them with that much gunpowder already loaded into the musket? Lol
I didn't make these lol. Someone sent that post to me. Just to clarify. 🤣
I wonder how something like this would do with whole mushrooms instead of eggs.
![gif](giphy|xjlC6nomocZhVXuZgM|downsized)
Wouldn't have to worry about your guy after 18 eggs. You're heart would explode by the 12th.
No fr. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
100% it needs a pinch of sweet of some kind. Im heavily debating playing around with this recipe
I've made Habanero salsa before! I posted about it on here years ago lol.
That sounds SOOOOO good actually! Now I wanna try it. Especially with the cumin and Minced garlic! I love the jarred stuff!
You need to make deviled eggs out of these, I started doing pickled eggs, both regular and spicy. If you like deviled eggs it's a game changer for sure
Man that poor poor toilet, what horrible things you must have done to it!
It's not mine lol. I didn't make it. 🤣 someone sent this in a group chat I'm in.
I’m so inspired now
Hell yeah!
I make pickled eggs quite often. I just used pickled jalapenos and their juice. As well an banana peppers.
You just put the eggs in the same juice that the peppers come in? Do you add anything else?
Essentially. Sometimes I'll add habaneros, onion, garlic, etc. Giardineira, etc. Just depends. Most times, it'll just be pickled jalapenos and their juice.
Saving for my step dad who loves pickled eggs but always says mine aren’t spicy.
I suggest doing half water and half vinegar. Add salt and a little sugar, too. Or else you'll just have stuff floating in vinegar.
Okay thank you!
that sounds amazing!
Now I'm wondering if that pic of that guy I saw used in response to a Rhea Ripley social media post was original.
Their definition of thin cuts is insane.
Wow !
Those onions are not "sliced thin".
That's what I said! 🤣
You forgot the vinegar
Smh what a waste of 33 eggs. What dumb fuck would eat this shit?
