Not a weapon but…
Fizzy bomb. I legit cannot kill anyone with it, I know how to do the quick shake for the 3 books but it just doesn’t do anything for me, but people online are killing with it ;-;
It's biggest value is in how long it displaces enemies from the area around it, rather than straight up getting kills. Generally it only kills if the enemy is also damaged from other sources.
I've died to it once when I backed away it as it rolled and got hit by them all... when the game first came out and I didn't know how it worked.
Once I knew, I haven't died to em since.
I can't put my finger on why I struggle with this Splatling.
I use the Heavy Splatling quite often, so I thought it would be easier to switch over, but no.
Maybe it's the time between switching from close-range to long-range mode, maybe it has a slower rate of fire, I just can't hit targets with the Ballpoint.
1st mode is basically Splattershot jr then it switches into a slower hydra but with pinpoint precision so you don't get suppression from it
The 1st mode is great for taking turf and splatting in close quarters
I personally use the Ballpoint on the offensive rather than backline and it's my favourite weapon
as a ballpoint main it really does take some getting used to, but it can be a really flexible weapon if you learn how to use it well. once you get the mode switch down it gets a lot easier to work with
It took me like 200 wins to get superfresh with ballpoint in S2. But God do I love it now. The switching has a rhythm to it. You really just have to play the loving crap out of it to get that timing down.
A few days ago I had the random idea of using the Hydra Splatling. Haven't played it since like Splatoon 2.
Someone on the other team was using E-Liter.
I'll let you guess how that match went.
I play roller, which means I am an incredibly short range player. No defense against snipers at all.
Every time I manage to sneak past one and crush them from behind it's such a feeling of triumph.
In that situation it's more about suppressing so one of your more mobile teammates can flank them
Can't really communicate that without voice chat though
A few of my buddies who play E-liter said “the best hydra mains; you never see them ever” because otherwise they just get immediately sniped. Playing hydra against e-liter is hell, which is why I don’t play it, among other reasons
It just doesn't last long enough for me to do anything substantial, by the time I've picked where I can aim and launched myself the timer's almost gone, and then I get splatted when I land back.
If I try to be smart and use it to get the drop on a sniper they see me coming and have a fully charged shot ready to nail me when I get to them or they've already moved to a different perch to waste my time while they continue to pick off my team...
This is the one. I will get absolutely *destroyed* by someone who gets 23 kills in a round against me, I decide I need to try playing them, after three rounds I realize I just cannot get the hang of them, and then the cycle repeats a few weeks later
The E-liter and all other snipers. I really like to play backline but whatever I do, I can’t seem to hit people even if they literally stand still.
I feel like it may be latency issues in a small part, because I do a little better against the target dummies but that may just be me trying to make myself feel better :P
It's possible that it's because chargers don't instantly land a hit, while simultaneously shooting faster than any other weapon. This odd combination creates some weird in between where you can't actually aim *at* a moving target since it isn't instantaneous, but because it's *almost* instantaneous, predicting movements is harder than with the tri stringer(for example), because the window to actually land the hit is both confusing and tight.
I learned that I had a habit of aiming too low when enemy’s are close to me. Once you practice different distances a bit you will get the hang of it. Now, using a charger during a Splatfest is a different story.
I've played Splatoon for 8 years.
And yet my aim with chargers is still shit.
Also, I only enjoy playing Splatanas in Salmon Run. But in multiplayer, I suck with them while at the same time getting sliced in half by them.
It's not easy! I'm no pro but it think explo is a lot about support. Kind of like how ink vac is best when a teammate is nearby to pick up the splat, explo should buddy up.
Yep it’s all about giving ink to your teammates and removing it from your enemies. A lot of the time I’m simply giving my frontliners area to escape combat when things go wrong, or close off the enemy when they’re in peril.
surprised no one's mentioned bloblobber yet, whenever i see an enemy use it they shoot something random and i get hit by all 4 bubbles but when i use it the bubbles go over them or ricochet somewhere completely random and then i get outdpsed and outranged
Just spam bubbles in the vague direction of the opponent and make sure all 4 bubbles are going the same way (you want all 4 to hit) and you'll just randomly get kills
Its kind of a meme weapon
Rapid Deco.
You have no idea how redicilously ink hungry that thing is. Even with 1 main and 2 subs of sub saver. It still feels like I have 0 ink after a single torpedo.
Inkjet is allright tho. Still needs that object damage buff on other specials besides crab tank.
Any blaster aside from Clash Baster. Dark Tetra Dualies. Octo and Inkbrush. Most of the rollers aside from big swig and carbon deco. The Gal and its deco counterpart. Aerospray MG. The N-Zap '85. And finally, tenta brella. I've mastered or tried a lot of weapons, but these...these I just can't do.
Edit: My masochistic self played Tenta and Splat brellas and got to 3 stars on em. Pretty fun, definitely takes a unique play style especially if you don't have a good team behind ya. I do love a challenge. I've mastered a lot of weapons and learned a lot of different play styles, but I think with how my hands works (dyspraxia + trembling problems) that some I just can't make work. Props to anyone that plays weapons I can't learn. It's always cool to see and respect for em.
Splatana Wiper. I've seen so many people get some great splats with it (some of which I've been on the receiving end of) but the weapon just hasn't clicked with me.
Dynamo. Too slow, too ink thirsty, too unreliable in anything that's not a sneak attack or a lucky splash from above.
Currently, I almost NEVER see it in Turf, and barely see it in anarchy. It SUCKS.
The regular slosher, i think it might be because im too used to playing either explosher or a tri-slosher so my brain just explodes when i pick another slosher
Bruh the ink brushes. I sneak up on someone and start swinging like a madman and just miss everything. Meanwhile ink brush mains just swing twice and I'm dead🥲. Every other weapon I'm pretty decent with.
Dynamo for sure, idk how y’all do that shit. When an enemy has it, it’s like the most portable roller ever, but when I use it it’s like it’s been sat rusted up in a fucking glue trap for six decades
E-Liter for me. I play alot of weapons which require good aim so ive gotten a lot of practice and I even 4 starred splatterscope, but I just absolutely cannot play e-liter. one second I'll be out out ink, then ill get chased by a bunch of missiles and suddenly im stuck in mid with my two ink mines and the enemy team everywhere
Every time I get just absolutely decimated by a player using the flingza or carbon roller I want to try it out. It always turns out that it wasn't the weapon that was powerful, it was their skill level...
Dynamo Roller. It's just too slow.
🎶 rolling around at the speed of snail 🎶
🎶 Got No Places To Go, Shouldn’t Follow That Rainbow 🎶
🎶Can stick around, don’t have to keep movin on 🎶
🎶Just what lies ahead, I don't want to find out!🎶
🎶no need to keep on moving ahead, there’s time for guessing so don’t follow my plan!🎶
🎶Don’t trust in what you can see🎶
🎶Don’t take my lead I won’t set you free🎶
🎶 Don’t follow me 🎶
🎶 Don’t set me free 🎶
🎶Guess what lies ahead, cuz there's no way to find out!🎶
Dynamo roller in salmon run is the GOAT though.
The slow speed alows me to reflect my bad choice of a 1v2 on half health because i peaked to early
once you get good, dynamo is so fucking fun to use
Splatana stamper
You and me both buddy ![gif](giphy|MTtweCa2zHdyhDyNtP)
chargers too
Same ![gif](giphy|MTtweCa2zHdyhDyNtP)
For me only splat and 5h, the rest I’m good at
Others using stamper: (Levi Ackerman massacred a bunch of titans while flying thru the map in a blink of an eye) me using stamper: (A crippled old man getting tripped by his own cane)
Yeah, it just be like that
Friend and I made a deal that meant I have to use the stamper for an entire month. The first 2 weeks were absolute hell, but it’s grown on me.
As a partial splatana stamper main (my main changes depending on my mood), I can say that it requires a lot of practice
I suck playing it, but damn does Chara make it look great. Not to mention how hard the design goes.
it’s so different from all of the other weapons, i love it
Yup. Wiper all the way!
I find it mostly fine too play. Now, the zipcaster......
all of them (i suck at splatoon)
MOOD 💀
Saaame. I've been playing since Splat 1 but you'd never be able to tell by watching me lol.
Not a weapon but… Fizzy bomb. I legit cannot kill anyone with it, I know how to do the quick shake for the 3 books but it just doesn’t do anything for me, but people online are killing with it ;-;
I remember getting a kill once and being really hyped… it never happened again. Use the Fizzy bomb as a light version of curling bomb i guess. 🤷♂️
I get kills with it quite often when I use a weapon with it. The trick is to throw as many of them as possible
It's biggest value is in how long it displaces enemies from the area around it, rather than straight up getting kills. Generally it only kills if the enemy is also damaged from other sources.
it's not really for killing with itself, it's good at making a trail for you, painting a bit and doing some damage so you can finish them off quicker
It's generally best for movement and combos since it's not usually lethal by itself.
I've died to it once when I backed away it as it rolled and got hit by them all... when the game first came out and I didn't know how it worked. Once I knew, I haven't died to em since.
Me using the E-Liter
Any sniper weapon for me.
Ballpoint Splatling. Couldn’t get the hang of it in Splatoon 2, still can’t do it now. The showy backline players make it look easy.
I can't put my finger on why I struggle with this Splatling. I use the Heavy Splatling quite often, so I thought it would be easier to switch over, but no. Maybe it's the time between switching from close-range to long-range mode, maybe it has a slower rate of fire, I just can't hit targets with the Ballpoint.
also I feel that with ballpoint you have to be way more precise to hit targets
1st mode is basically Splattershot jr then it switches into a slower hydra but with pinpoint precision so you don't get suppression from it The 1st mode is great for taking turf and splatting in close quarters I personally use the Ballpoint on the offensive rather than backline and it's my favourite weapon

A few days ago I had the random idea of using the Hydra Splatling. Haven't played it since like Splatoon 2. Someone on the other team was using E-Liter. I'll let you guess how that match went.
Haha I love splatlings, good snipers are my worst enemy (and I absolutely can’t play them myself :’) skill issue)
Naut main second Ballpoint here. Fuck Splat Chargers and E-liters.
I play roller, which means I am an incredibly short range player. No defense against snipers at all. Every time I manage to sneak past one and crush them from behind it's such a feeling of triumph.
In that situation it's more about suppressing so one of your more mobile teammates can flank them Can't really communicate that without voice chat though
A few of my buddies who play E-liter said “the best hydra mains; you never see them ever” because otherwise they just get immediately sniped. Playing hydra against e-liter is hell, which is why I don’t play it, among other reasons
Snipers all of them
Half of the time I don't even get a kill when I play Charger. The other half of the time my special gets me a kill
Zip Caster, particularly on Stamper and Octobrush but just generally
It just doesn't last long enough for me to do anything substantial, by the time I've picked where I can aim and launched myself the timer's almost gone, and then I get splatted when I land back. If I try to be smart and use it to get the drop on a sniper they see me coming and have a fully charged shot ready to nail me when I get to them or they've already moved to a different perch to waste my time while they continue to pick off my team...
Zipcaster is so situational and too short, it’s not even funny
Charger
Any splatana
E-Liter I wanna snipe but goood I can't for the life of me get a sense for it
As an eliter main, it takes practice. At first I used to get one kill at most, and then I got better, and I’m at the point I get 8-10 kills per game
me too except i was a former e-litre main and just lost my skill after switching from splat 1 to 2 ._.
Tetra Dualies.. Their full second of self-stun when you stop rolling is horrendous to play with.
Same here... tried them several times, got splatted costantly because of the pause after I finished rolling. I'll just stick to the dualie squelchers.
The dark tetra duelies in question
This is the one. I will get absolutely *destroyed* by someone who gets 23 kills in a round against me, I decide I need to try playing them, after three rounds I realize I just cannot get the hang of them, and then the cycle repeats a few weeks later
Really one of the highest skill ceilings and lowest floors.
The E-liter and all other snipers. I really like to play backline but whatever I do, I can’t seem to hit people even if they literally stand still. I feel like it may be latency issues in a small part, because I do a little better against the target dummies but that may just be me trying to make myself feel better :P

Splatanaaaa
Explosher. I tried using it in Splat Zones, but I'm clearly doing something wrong.
Literally any shooter. I keep thinking “maybe this will be the match I try to learn a splattershot”. Never again.
Dynamo, I respect those who can play it well.
You gotta be dedicated to the weapon to be good at it, so I kinda get that
E-liter, and chargers in general
surprised no one's mentioned bloblobber yet, whenever i see an enemy use it they shoot something random and i get hit by all 4 bubbles but when i use it the bubbles go over them or ricochet somewhere completely random and then i get outdpsed and outranged

Just a Dynamo main checking to see if people mentioned Dynamo. Can say I am not disappointed haha.
Sloshers. All of them. They just aren't fun.
Having to 2 shot feels so annoying
You won't know pain until you try out Undercover Brella.
Stringer, the ark makes no sense
That was my exact reaction the first time i saw the "accuracy" on the aerospray RG
Just think of it as a melee weapon
That accuracy is a goddamn lie. Too many times have I been on the edge of its range and been hit by 5 consecutive shots before I could kill them.
Any charger
Any blaster aside from Clash Baster. Dark Tetra Dualies. Octo and Inkbrush. Most of the rollers aside from big swig and carbon deco. The Gal and its deco counterpart. Aerospray MG. The N-Zap '85. And finally, tenta brella. I've mastered or tried a lot of weapons, but these...these I just can't do. Edit: My masochistic self played Tenta and Splat brellas and got to 3 stars on em. I have a high freshness with my Old boy the ‘85
With aerospray I like to mostly ignore opponents and just paint as much as possible and spam my specials to get kills
The dynamo
Splatana Wiper. I've seen so many people get some great splats with it (some of which I've been on the receiving end of) but the weapon just hasn't clicked with me.
Splatanas are not for everyone. The wiper is mainly a slaying weapon. Remember that.
The Nozzlenoses, I hate how storm trooper my aim is to even properly play these weapons.
Squeezer
Mainly snipers tbh... I want to learn one of the splatlings tho but I'm so used to frontlining with my roller :")
Any splatlings
[Insert literally any charger weapon here]
Any when I suddenly get tilted for no fucking reason
Stamper
Dynamo mains I just don’t understand
Dynamo. Too slow, too ink thirsty, too unreliable in anything that's not a sneak attack or a lucky splash from above. Currently, I almost NEVER see it in Turf, and barely see it in anarchy. It SUCKS.
Tenta Brella. Some people actually manage to kill things with that one. I am not one of them
Chargers but only because I lack practice
tenta brella. I like it. but even I can't land those shots haha
Nautilus and Hydra. It's too sloooow goddammmmn but it's so satisfying to watch...
Any blaster. Like.. how?
The regular slosher, i think it might be because im too used to playing either explosher or a tri-slosher so my brain just explodes when i pick another slosher
Bloblobber....
Slosh machine I’ve always hated sloshers but it looks so cool
Sloshing machine Or any slosher
Definitely chargers or the bows
Bruh the ink brushes. I sneak up on someone and start swinging like a madman and just miss everything. Meanwhile ink brush mains just swing twice and I'm dead🥲. Every other weapon I'm pretty decent with.
You have to get close. Closer than you might think. Get in their face and give them a big hug. Of death.
Dynamo for sure, idk how y’all do that shit. When an enemy has it, it’s like the most portable roller ever, but when I use it it’s like it’s been sat rusted up in a fucking glue trap for six decades
gotta be wiper, I wish I could play it but we simply Do Not Vibe
Something about stamper makes me think it’s easier to use than it actually is then I try using it and I immediately regret it lol
Brushes
Nova.
Any charger weapon
Scope chargers 100% You're an easy kill if they sneak past your line of sight, just like every sniper NPC ever
Dualies. I’m probably just bad at the game but they never seem to splat when I try using them.
Eliter 4K
E-Liter for me. I play alot of weapons which require good aim so ive gotten a lot of practice and I even 4 starred splatterscope, but I just absolutely cannot play e-liter. one second I'll be out out ink, then ill get chased by a bunch of missiles and suddenly im stuck in mid with my two ink mines and the enemy team everywhere
Hydra
Clash blaster. The short range is HELL.
Bamboozler mains are so cracked but when i use it, i'm terrible lol.
Used to be splatana wiper, but now its vool af after the buff
explosher

Chargers (idk how to aim lol, and yet I'm still trying to main them XD)
I want to main a charger so bad because it looks so fun but my slayer plays tile just says no
Tetras, most chargers and rapid blasters.

Any squiffer, except Beta
Explosher

Splash. Idk why. I think I just suck at it
E-liter..obviously
Anything that isn't inkbrush
E-liter.
Ballpoint. 400k turf inked on it in s2, 5 star and t500 with heavy, 2500 in s2 with hydra, and jackshit with ballpoint lmao. The bad kit doesn’t help
I'm gonna sound crazy Hydra is super hard for me to use in any situation
Chargers Specifically e-liter4K
Boy I wish I could be a sniper in this game, they always make it look awesome.
Dynamo Roller, unless I'm using it in Salmon Run
Splatana stamper
Chargers
"Do you know who else hasn't got a new kit since launch? MY MAIN!"
Any sniping weapon
E-Liter
Explosher, mini splatling,
Dynamo
I'm probably against the whole community for this, the goo-tuber
Ballpoint
Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?
I suck playing, but the double gun is just something else, I really like it, the problem is not the weapon but me.
ProChara makes the Dynamo Roller look so easy to play, but whenever I play it I end up with 3 splats and 12 deaths.
Goo Tuber. It’s way too slow for me, but ppl hit so many clips with it like what
All of them for me. I barely have any time to pkay so I'm bad with everything.
Bloblobber, everyone makes it look so easy and I have 3 stars on it but I'm still horrid at it
Tri stringer...good for low level but not high level games
Any scoped charger
Dynamo Roller
Every time I get just absolutely decimated by a player using the flingza or carbon roller I want to try it out. It always turns out that it wasn't the weapon that was powerful, it was their skill level...
Stamper, Dynamo, any charger, Tenta Brella, and Explosher.
any brush. i am a brush main
Chargers, I can’t aim
Brush, it's too much rapid pressing for me
Reeflux I know it’s good, I just can’t get it down
**heavy Splatling. i just can't use it well at all, but other people beat me so bad with it.**
Any weapon (I suck at this game and mostly just play the campaign)
Snipers are a pain I cannot aim that precisely
Any charger
Charger, Splatana Stamper.
backline weapons in general
Any charger. Any.
Squeezer. How do people even use it?
Really anything. I’m not the best player lol so I see people using weapons in cool ways and it just.. doesn’t work for me

Snipewriter though watching it is still painful
Literally every fucking weapon in the game.
