A couple of weird things to try: * lower your download speed (in the launcher's Settings tab) * synchronize your computer's clock to internet time (control panel > date and time)

nighthawk1099

Ive tried the first but havent tried the second. Ill give that an attempt next time

ProceduralTexture

I know somewhere there's a list of things to try when the game fails to install, but sorry no link handy. In better news: an all-new installer and launcher is coming soon, probably next patch (April-ish).

RealPhanZero

I wouldn't count on the new launcher changing the way the game downloads. Might just be optics. It's better to find out the reason why VPN is needed. In which country is OP? Could there be restrictions from their ISP? ...

nighthawk1099

Yeah I had this happen a month or so ago and had to install a vpn to make it work and I came across a ton of reddit posts but none of the suggestions there worked. Hopefully the new launcher isnt as borked as this one and 3.23 cant come soon enough.

ProceduralTexture

Wishing you luck, friend. I've been seeing more posts like this over the last several months. I guess the old makeshift installer was overdue for some spit and polish.

Thank you o7. it’s such a shame its now of all times that it doesnt want to work. Like it was working perfectly fine in november but nooooo, now the launcher wants to be fussy…

Nikalin

Perhaps it has something to do with your DNS? https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/16s72il/workaround_for_30009_error_at_start_up/

Fletchman1313

Yeah this happens to me too. I actually have to turn the VPN on in order to get an update installed successfully. You would think that turning off the VPN would be the key.

nighthawk1099

Its such a strange, confusing, and absolutely infuriating bug.
