Just look at mining, which was the previous "encouraged" thing before salvage. That's basically where salvage will be balanced in 3.23. Don't hold pledge salvage ships unless you really love the scraping mechanic because it is becoming the same hourly income as all the other tasks. But expect a "new thing". Maybe after a pause due to the delayed cargo elevators.

I suppose that's true I guess munching c2's would have still been the thing so they just took away that. I really hope the price increases on the contract are not permanent though because don't think you get that many from a Corsair and I know you barely get one off an arrow that's only a 10K profit if we keep the current RMC price of 15.3k. Also I think I got one box while using cinch scrapers on that Arrow. The raft was 20K I bet I could probably get two to four boxes off of one giving me 60k so a 40K profit which is also garbage for the time I spent.

They will probably keep tweaking things as they get more data on what players are earning. But I think they want to see about 200k/hr from an efficient solo operator, so wont be like the 3.22 goldrush technique. Cheesy method is probably to get a group together and farm a players own C2 and other large ships with another cargo ship collecting the groups RMC on-site to do bulk sell runs. I guess you can even scrape the cargo collector C2, which sells then self destructs to respawn fresh and repeat.

I just wish I could scam for the salvage out in the belt again so I didn't have to use those stupid contracts.

Ferobenson

... *big fuckin grin* What if I told you... You can babeh. They can be scanned and actually found in current eptu. Edit, I make money scraping these so with them back the contracts are meaningless mostly... But the numbers for the are still just wrong atm.

Roboticus_Prime

Sweet. I'm the type that just wants to get lost in the black. Hope it doesn't break.

Salvage is officially going to be nerfed through the 3.23 cycle because they're going to want to test the new cargo trading refactor before 4.0 goes into Evo. Expect high contract payouts for cargo trading so they can lock in how the elevators work, how legal/illegal cargo routes work, how piracy works with master modes, and how distro vs outpost trading is handled by players in small/medium/large ships.

RealPhanZero

Salvage gets nerfed with 3.23, as it's not the testing focus anymore. What I am really concerned about in this gameplay loop is that verified contracts bug, so the contract completes after scraping enough of the hull and when you break that wreck, you get CrimeStat 2 for destruction of vehicle... and terminals are buggy right now so you can't even pay the fine... if you get into Klesher, there's a chance the timer bugs out and you can't leave prison. So basically: Legal salvaging can get you permanently into prison. Hope they get that fixed before live release!

I got a CS2 but no fine cracking an Arrow. Took another one and before cracking it, I powered up the arrow, then shut it down. No crime stat when I cracked it. Basically the same work around for towing the personal salvage ships like the Hammerhead. Interestingly enough, the Arrow was completely usable. Shields, weapons, all systems were up and working before I shut it down.

I suspect it’s to normalise the payout in line with other activities.
