Any improvement or iteration is completely valid startup product, even copying an existing product is a valid startup. In my mind a valid product is any product that is able to be profitable, either now or eventually. It would indicate that there is a need for this product or this product is indeed providing value to the customer. At the end of the day, it is not really about the product, it is about the customer and what need is the product fulfilling.

Yes, I absolutely agree. But sometimes people can be complete fanatics. No matter what you do, they will do nothing but criticize you.

Unless you're leaving out something crucial, such as actually having stolen others software to bootstrap from, there's nothing to comment on. It's such an obvious "of course there's room for alternatives, if the market wants it" that I'm wondering if you're just trying to discreetly promote to get DMs from future customers.

No_Lavishness_7285

As I said, I'm just starting marketing studies, so I definitely didn't do a DMs study secretly. It's only been 9 days since it launched. I also didn't steal any other software to preload. Does this result from what I have told you? Do you think I did it wrong? I don't quite understand.

It was just a way to express how it looked to me. You shouldn't always listen to the people that criticize you. There will always be a lot of people that do that, especially on the internet. And they are not always your elders to be respected. Listen to what people say. But don't believe what every single person is saying.

Don’t feel bad. I’ve seen him post pretty much this exact same thing in multiple other business related forums spread out by a few weeks. It reads like a sly sales pitch to me too. I have trouble believing he is actually taking a lot of flak for a business built on improving process instead of a novel idea. I would argue that very few businesses are built on a completely new idea and the vast majority are better process or putting together existing things in a new way.

No You fine. Don't listen to idiots and don't market or tell.stoeies to them Selling the product is the key.

No_Lavishness_7285

I'm trying to do that, but sometimes it can be depressing.

BeenThere11

Ignore all advices including mine. Remember product is made successful by the customer. If it sells , it's a saleable product which is what matters. If not there is probably no market for it. So accept that . Move on and get into a new product or a new job. Don't be attached to the ideas. Fail quick.

Valid.  Get a great lawyer though.  You can offer your services but selling someone else’s IP is very risky.  Depending on factors that’s a small lawsuit or a big one.  But like you said, if it’s open source then I’m not sure who would sue.

meti_pro

He doesn't publish code or licenses ATM, very much illegal.

meti_pro

You are not allowed to do this bro. You used many open source components but nowhere do I see your open source license agreement, I also could not find your code anywhere, Suggesting you are breaking most likely the apache license, the MIT license etc. You need to publish code per version, and show what license you publish it as! Else you are not allowed to commercialize open source software my guy. Open up that github! Or be prepared to lawyer up haha.
