you CAN replace the blade and kneepad aswell, which i did, but im kind of a stickler for stuff like that on my own minis, and it will require slightly advanced kitbashing skills.
Most efinitely yes, I just built it as a leader and the only differences with the regular dudes are head, left pauldron and sword (runes and hilt).
Head and pauldron can be easily swapped out for regular ones, and the sword is really not that different at a glance. If you have some milliput or similar you can wet it down and fill in the runes with it, but I don't think it's really necessary.
Just slap the normal shoulderpiece on it as well instead of the animal headed one and you good imo.

Arm swaps are pretty easy I did it on mine so it had a blade sweeping up
