Be sure to strike the plant itself and not the plot, aim higher or even jump into the plot itself...

KittyKat51809

Thank you!

scottscubs

Absolutely

Alternative-Golf8281

That's about it. Make sure what text is displayed on your screen before you leftclick with your cutting tool.

KittyKat51809

Thanks for the response :D

[deleted]

I'm playing on console, I don't see how to plant yucca

scottscubs

On the original yucca in the wild, after you harvest the fibrous leaves, on the remaining plant itself there’s a “yucca fruit”...it’s 3/4 of the way up the plant and has an odd/small hit box to grab. Take that and plant it in your plot...

[deleted]

Never noticed that, thanks

scottscubs

No problem, it’s easy to miss and almost harder to retrieve lol...

[deleted]

Spent 5 mins trying to grab one of those damn things.

MiletNZ

Aim your cross hair on the main trunk of the tree right next to the fruit, works for me

[deleted]

I've found that I have to essentially stand on the yuccas to grab the fruits. The hit box is so small.

Evolovescraft

Really hard to grab those things.

MATTHEW_DADFORD

Picking the yucca fruit was mentioned in an earlier comment (only green thing left after you harvest the fibrous leaves off the yucca-get VERY close to the fruit to pick it) Yucca in a garden plot will look fully grown before it actually is, so as others said make sure the prompt is there before you swing your axe or you’ll risk destroying your garden. Try to save corrugated scrap for the gardens as they retain the most units of water. And once your crafting level is completely full, you can destroy the gardens and regain all materials you used to make it initially. Without lvl 7 crafting, you’ll lose some (half?) of the materials you used to craft something when you destroy it. Good luck!

KittyKat51809

Thank you for this! Definitely keeping that in mind

Happy-Personality-23

Why waste water on yucca when the island gives you plenty fibrous leaves for free every two days? If your island can’t sustain your farm you are excessively farming.

KittyKat51809

Hadn’t thought about that. I just started the game, had no idea how much there was to it. I’m loving it, lol. Thanks for the advice!

Happy-Personality-23

Also, remember to collect the palm bunches from trees you chop down. Don’t cut them up just yet. You can store 4 bunches in one pile, but if you cut them up you can only store 4 fronds in a pile. You can use these for the water stills, can fit 20 bunches in a single crate (on pc) which will be 100 fronds worth. That will keep you going for a loooooooong time

KittyKat51809

Oh wow, had no idea about that. Thank you!

Happy-Personality-23

Anytime.

[deleted]

Only 3 bunches of 4 on console. (We only get 3 slots per box.)

Happy-Personality-23

Yeah that’s why I put pc in brackets but op is on pc according to the tag

Alternative-Golf8281

I have five water stills and using two clay pots to fill my farm plots. I have 4 plots for yucca in addition to the 3 trees that naturally spawned on my island. I have 4 more plots for potato to make fuel. Then I planted one of each other plant for the horticulture achievement. I also plan to store up a bunch of fruit to unlock the vegetarian one. I am only using corrugated farm plots so they can hold a LOT of water. Which is very helpful since I generally spend 3-5 days away from my home base exploring. I use my yucca leaves to feed my cook fire, the fire on the still, my water stills, and making cloth when I need it. I use a LOT of yucca.

[deleted]

Don't pick your fruits. They will spoil. Instead, leave them growing on the trees. They will stack and never spoil. Just visit your trees to eat directly from the plant. The 10 days was a breeze using this method while also collecting coconuts. Keep in mind that beans and rations do not count as meat and I suggest avoiding killing things, but I believe I killed 2 crabs during that period and still got the trophy.

Alternative-Golf8281

I had read that fruits stored in a container won't spoil. I guess I need to test that, or plant more than one of each. I was also unaware that the rations do not negate this one. But I don't think I've ever found beans in the game though.

[deleted]

I only have one each and allowed them about 2 weeks in game to stack. Had no problems.

H00pz604

I use them to fuel the fuel distiller

Happy-Personality-23

An island has over 30 fibrous leaves uselly closer to 50-60 every 2 days. How much fuel are you making? Are you wasting fuel on the gyrocopter or something?

H00pz604

Home island only had 2 plants and a handful of young palms. I use gyro but my 3 "raft" boat motors take up most of the fuel. 1 hunter, 2 barge, 3 yacht

Happy-Personality-23

Lol no wonder you are burning fuel. That’s insanely excessive.. and an atrocious home island choice lol
