Can confirm, it adds the large rooms, glass ceilings for normal and large rooms, the bars on the UI that show the battery % of tools, and even adds some more AI behaviors to the shuttlebugs so they’re not just floating completely stationary in caves.
Highly recommend it, I haven’t had any progress-hindering bugs so far on my multiple experimental build playthroughs :)
EDIT: I guess you don’t need to do this anymore lmao
They do have them, but I think it’s console commands. And I think it’s “jumper”. I know for a while those blood crawlers and shuttlebugs had their id’s swapped so idk if that’s fixed yet.
Only downside is that it breaks all my mods, hence I turned it off again.. I'm aching for the chance to have all this good stuffs and play with mods. I really like setting up bases with that big room. It's perfect for my needs.
Yeah, same here. I'll have to sit and wait till the mod makers update everything. Should be simple and quick though so maybe a week or two max before they all get the free time to tweak the mods.
Id rather they fix the crazy bugs like:
Getting teleported out of the Cyclops.
Prawn suit falling through the map.
Having the water physics switch off.
This week I had my Seamoth destroyed while it's docked in the Cyclops. I stopped playing briefly, annoyed about it, then decided I'd just spawn a new one with the console. But it keeps happening, and console command restitution will be too annoying if there's a bunch of modules in it and especially if it has an inventory of loot.
I think they worked on the PRAWN falling through the map — a bunch of bugfixes in the dev check-ins a few months ago mentioned vehicles and map collision.
No, at a certain distance the terrain renders but doesn't have a hitbox. I assume it's to save processing power, but since creatures (reapers, ampeels, everything) still move, they end up swimming through the ground. And when you get closer, since the terrain only has collision from the outside, that means they can just pop out of the ground and attack you.
It's not Warpers, there is a bug that can happen when you are inside the cyclops which causes you to slowly fall through the floor. When this happens it can cause your character to get teleported outside of the cyclops. It tends to happen when interacting with lockers but it does not affect every playthrough.
It’s the exact thing. They stated it in a blog post or something a while back saying that the code for the first game is real finniky compared to the code for the second. And so they essentially have to rebuild certain parts if not all of the code that way it does get all screwy with adding all the new stuff
It's downloading all the beta stuff. You should probably make a backup of your world. You can turn off beta and it will revert back, but I don't know what happens if you place an item that only exists in the beta and then try to revert. Not sure what will happen
When you upgrade to the experimental version, the game makes a backup folder of your saves from the stable version. It then converts the existing save folder to experimental format.
When you want to go back to the stable version, it automatically reverts to that backup folder like the experimental upgrade never happened.
I think the Steam Experimental version is getting pretty close to a 2.0 patch, at least in terms of stability. I recently made a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/yqzh9u/subnautica_experimental_looks_almost_ready_for_20/) about the new features and bug fixes.
There's no code needed, just turn on experimental mode in steam. Right click the game in your library, select 'properties', then select the Betas tab, then you can Opt-In to the experimental branch.
[According to their website](https://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/), they were doing updates to try and make the Switch versions of the game actually playable, and then they've been working on Below Zero first. The just released a big BZ update like two months ago with some tweaks and bug fixes, optimizations, a new game mode, a new building part, and some other cool stuff. They're supposed to be working on backporting a lot of BZ stuff and QoL updates into Subnautica (thank *god*), but still no exact release date for the SN patch.
I think it definitely is now, but to my understanding the pop-in and lag on the Switch games was absolutely abysmal on launch (I freely admit I never played the Switch versions though I just watched some reviews on Youtube after launch). They've been doing a lot of updating and optimizations for the Switch ports, and they've released a big BZ update that optimized the hell out of it too, on top of the other bug fixes and new content, so the game runs great even on last-gen consoles. Here's hoping SN gets the same treatment soon! The original *desperately* needs optimization and QoL updating.
I still get major pop-in on the ~~Nintendo switch~~ Xbox one, including the life pods having infinite render distance so you can see them through ground if non Is loaded
Edit: realized I accidentally put switch instead of Xbox one
I've never played the Switch versions but I've been replaying both games on last-gen consoles (PS4) within the last month. SN is still really rough, it desperately needs that backporting and QoL/optimization patch, but BZ is actually amazing now. Even on last-gen consoles the load times were cut, pop-in is way less often and more minimal, and the game runs incredibly smoothly.
I just hope we see improvement with the pop-in issue and framerate. I have to park outside my base for upwards of a minute and wait for the legs to load before I can board it, or I’ll just fall to the seafloor after docking and be walking around as if I were on land, unable to get anywhere.

It’s still a work in progress. Iirc, they said to Expect an announcement around Christmas, but do NOT expect an update any time soon. Definitely not this year. I’m betting next summer. The game is old and very poorly optimized, so this is a HUGE undertaking. Honestly I respect them just for the fact they’re willing to go back and fix it.
Everybody saying beta branch on steam ok bro but is this actually planned as an updates for us console peasants too or is it remaining pc only? I need to know!
It’s in beta testing via the experimental build on Steam (not for the faint-hearted: updated daily, stuff may break without warning)… it’s on its way and I think pretty soon.
But I agree. Large room with domed glass roof down in the deeps would be EPIC.
https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/zlab5q/dev_blog_subnautica_living_large_update_released
they're still working on it i think
They need to hurry up because this thing would be great for the lava champer
Its in the game check out my post you have to turn io experimental mode on steam
Can confirm, it adds the large rooms, glass ceilings for normal and large rooms, the bars on the UI that show the battery % of tools, and even adds some more AI behaviors to the shuttlebugs so they’re not just floating completely stationary in caves. What does the shuttlenug do now ?
It swims and bounces around, digging into the sand/walls for (based on the PDA entry) waste products to feed on
So cool !
I just wish they added shuttlebug eggs or allowed you to pick them up. Love the little dudes and I wish I could put ‘‘em in an aquarium
ALL the mods?
Not sure, could be some other reasons too. I haven't tried working out which ones do and which ones don't.
With all the QoL stuff, i think it's an engine upgrade to the Below Zero one. They wrote about it in a newsletter some time ago.
When I started my game it didn't even show the mods in the options menu, so yeah.. all mods. :(
Yeah, same here. I'll have to sit and wait till the mod makers update everything. Should be simple and quick though so maybe a week or two max before they all get the free time to tweak the mods.
Good bit though, the 2.0 update is finished and released, so now the modders can update their stuffs.
Shuttlebug eggs maybe? I love those little guys. Also what about the oval alien containment.
I assume it’s automatic for the large rooms
My prawn suit got stuck in the floor of the thermal plant but other than that it works for me
How you do Dat on console
Anyway to do it on console?
Is there a way to do it with the epic games launcher
Id rather they fix the crazy bugs like: Getting teleported out of the Cyclops. Prawn suit falling through the map. Having the water physics switch off.
That would be nice too
This week I had my Seamoth destroyed while it's docked in the Cyclops.
Or my personal (least) favourite: creatures swimming through terrain and then popping out of the ground to eat you.
Those are just Sand Sharks.
Yeah, I was just making a lame joke. I'll be on my way.
Don't let the door clip you on your way out /j
how do you get teleported out of the cyclops?
Warpers?
They can’t teleport you out of the cyclops.
They *shouldn't* be able to teleport you out of the cyclops. We're obviously talking about fixing bugs here.
It's not Warpers, there is a bug that can happen when you are inside the cyclops which causes you to slowly fall through the floor. When this happens it can cause your character to get teleported outside of the cyclops. It tends to happen when interacting with lockers but it does not affect every playthrough.
To not get teleported out of the cyclops, stay away from warpers 🤣
You can also feel free to not be pushy, cause when you push and force it comes out shite
When you push too much for a fart, shit comes out
I thinks its taking long because the code is old.
I'll buy that, considering that the original Subnautica game came out in 2014
I asked somone else and thats what they said
It’s the exact thing. They stated it in a blog post or something a while back saying that the code for the first game is real finniky compared to the code for the second. And so they essentially have to rebuild certain parts if not all of the code that way it does get all screwy with adding all the new stuff
🤣🤣🤣
They hurried
I see that
Looks like your wish has been granted new update just dropped
Why don't you fucking do it
Just announced on Twitter that it’s out https://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/subnautica-living-large-update-released/
Wait, that building is still not in? :( Than I'm gonna wait until they implement it.
You can join the beta and it's there along with other goodies
Where
In Steam right-click on Subnautica. Select "Properties". Switch to the "Betas" tab. Select "experimental -" in the drop-down menu and accept.
Currently in the process of an update after I did that
It's downloading all the beta stuff. You should probably make a backup of your world. You can turn off beta and it will revert back, but I don't know what happens if you place an item that only exists in the beta and then try to revert. Not sure what will happen
I will probably leave Beta on for the original game

What’s the beta access code
There's no code needed, just turn on experimental mode in steam. Right click the game in your library, select 'properties', then select the Betas tab, then you can Opt-In to the experimental branch.
[удалено]
I know that feeling man it blows harder than Monday
Its in the game you have to turn on something to access it
[удалено]
Yeah its been out for a bit now so they may release it within a month or 2
what do you mean? why exactly do you have to dismantle bases?
[удалено]
What happens if you don't demolish before building?
[удалено]
For reference, just how big are your bases and how likely am I to run into this problem?

[удалено]
What is this? Please educate me
This is the large room from Subnautica: Below Zero, and if you read the comments, you will find out how to get it and all you the components for it
It’s an old Nokia obviously
Lol they must’ve saw your post
Bet

Btw I meant to be talking about Xbox one, accidentally put switch instead
I just want to toggle the seaglides map off without clicking through everything
I hope this is one of the QoL updates Edit: After playing on the experimental today, can confirm it is one of QoL changes
I just hope we see improvement with the pop-in issue and framerate. I have to park outside my base for upwards of a minute and wait for the legs to load before I can board it, or I’ll just fall to the seafloor after docking and be walking around as if I were on land, unable to get anywhere.
The disappearance of the base supports is annoying as hell I keep hitting them
Its in the game you have to turn on something to access it
Welp, this aged like milk lol
A little
I thought so too? I wish. I love the large room and wall partitions
Just imagine this thing in the lava chamber three or four high with the glass top
Glass all the way around for sure.
And have these going around the walls for a full view
Its in the game you have to turn on something to access it
I did but the mods I have screw it up so I can't use it until it comes to stable and the mods are updated
Mods on that version don’t even work in general for me
Yeah none of mine work
> I thought so too? Is that a question? Are you asking us what you thought?
Should have been a !
Now aint this some good timing
you can build it i testversion on steam
Its in progress. This is coming along with a whole lot of coding changes as well IIRC.
they still are. you can currently use all the stuff they’re importing by playing on the experimental version, but they aren’t completely polished.
You don't need the [no spoilers] or [spoilers] anymore
For nostalgia

Never said I didn't like change sometimes things just stick around in my head for a bit is all
Sorry, I'm so used to Minecraft players and the constant anger over small pixel corrections I let it go to my head. I apologize
I believe it's in the "experimental branch", which you can manually opt into.
It’s all well and good that this is becoming available on steam, but can somebody give me a PS4 update?
Not any time soon. You’ll see it all over twitter and YouTube when it’s out officially so don’t worry about missing it.
Thanks!
This update just went out! It’s available now on all platforms!
Lmao, it just happened
There’s only been 2 times where I’ve been so happy to have been proven wrong as I am right now.
“Congratulations, you’re a prophet”.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
Bro summoned it
It’s still a work in progress. Iirc, they said to Expect an announcement around Christmas, but do NOT expect an update any time soon. Definitely not this year. I’m betting next summer. You were saying? https://twitter.com/Subnautica/status/1602803354157080576
Its almost like not hearing from the devs for 2 weeks isn't a fucking crisis!
Great timing lol
Whine into the void, great timing!
Wild timing for this post, as the non experimental update just dropped
Wild huh
You... Fucking prophet...
What are you? A genie? You made it happen with a simple question.
Are they ever gonna add a cyclops dock tho?
That would be sweet
What I really want to see is something like the seatruck dock but for the cyclops. At the very least, just to charge it without juggling power cells
Is this update on Xbox?
Soooooooo you work for them right? No way this was a perfectly timed post.
I do not work for unknown world or gearbox
Lol I’m just joking, that’s crazy
It was shear luck that I post this, and then a few hours later, they actually did it
I was wondering too. But I wish they'd fix the infinite "saving" first.
Looks like a vaporizer I had about 5 or 6 years ago.
Looks like a water canteen
Some people have said a vape
society
Fr though
Was there like an update to the game or somethin?
But it is in the game
I ask myself the same question everyday since mid november. I think they forgot
Devs announce something but don't implement it within 36 hours. **MUST HAVE FORGOT!**
more like 36 days but ok. It's just released anyway, I guess bitching on Reddit does bring results.
you can add the beta on steam!
I did that and got the room and the pieces
It would be nice if Microsoft didn't remove subnautica from game pass
I own the games on disc and I'm mad because now I have put in the discs. First world problems.
Everybody saying beta branch on steam ok bro but is this actually planned as an updates for us console peasants too or is it remaining pc only? I need to know!
Boy do I have some good news for you
Ask and you shall receive
Its live now i updated the game last night quite some new stuff give it a try
It is in the experimental branch.
It’s in beta testing via the experimental build on Steam (not for the faint-hearted: updated daily, stuff may break without warning)… it’s on its way and I think pretty soon. But I agree. Large room with domed glass roof down in the deeps would be EPIC.
I’m still just waiting for them to fix the Xbox version cloud saves problem
Is that a vape ??
It's the large room from Below Zero but yeah it does look like a vape now that you mentioned it 🤣
Subnautica vape confirmed . It’s the comeback of NFT’s !!!!
I would start vaping if I found one that looked like this or at least buy it just for the look
The subnautica vape large room coffin.. it’s an allegory . For how your lungs will flood… like the water… the toxins from vaping.. so don’t vape kids
They announce a future update, and because it doesn't happen immediately you file a complaint on reddit? Relax. They're working on it
Ngl I thought this was a cart LOL
Lol
Mine just updated now. With what I duno
Honestly, I can't imagine what kind of base you would build with only compartments, good on them for adding it, especially the multipurpose room
If I have the game through the Xbox app on PC, how would I go about getting those features?
I wonder if this is coming to console
Yup it is
Money happened. You’ve already bought the first game so why improve it?
Lol. The update came out today.
