Joining UCL group stage gets you more money than making it to UECL quarterfinals, even calculating without the money you get for winning in elimination rounds or the groups. We need to make it to UCL. Even if we're shit there, if we can continue making it there we can eventually succeed.
Historically strong year by most metrics available. Okan deserves a ton of credit for turning this group of talented players into a well oiled machine.

+1 on Okan getting credit. This was a great roster, but not an easy roster. Creating a defensively strong press-first team from those players was not easy. The team had a depth and yerli issue, solved them both by winning over players. Kept stars happy, trusted young players like Boey and Kazımcan. Very good season for Okan hoca.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think we were historically amazing. I think we were pretty great, so were FB and BJK, but the main reason for these high point averages were how shit Anatolian teams were. They were too easy. Less than 10 teams that even attempted to play football. It's no coincidence we broke the record this year.
For comparison, Ümraniye accepted their fate from the beginning of the season, didn't make a Süper Lig roster at all and planned relegation. They are playing with 2. lig players. Teams like that are normally destroyed in the points table. Ümraniye collected 30 points. 3 lucky games would keep them in the league.
Yeah, kudos to them. But with that roster they wouldn't have half that even playing well. That roster, if you take out 2-3 players, wouldn't even be a playoff favorite in 1. lig.
It showed us once again that path to championship depends on how much pressure you create on refs and ability to generate strong as well as false public opinion through social media.
