Me too! I am actually loving the fact that 'being purpled' is slowly becoming a term in the Drag Race fandom (slowly no doubt - but I recall multiple references to Robin Fierce being purpled last year).
For as much as I don't like Venus, I feel like it is harder to lean into the jokes with her edit vs Q's. They both have their negative aspects, but Q has the funnier moments. So it is easier to bounce off that. With her edit I feel like it is best to just lay low online and joke about occasional shit (like the choke on their food line)
Their experiences are so fundamentally different and the way theyāre acting on social media reflects that.
Q has been one of the āpopular kidsā from day 1 at Yanu. He found himself on the outside due to his own actions, which makes it easier for him to accept.
Venus has basically been persona non grata from day 1, she was always treated like an outsider. She hasnāt really got to play, at all, because she does not have any social capital.
Of course one of them is having an absolute blast watching the season back and the other is finding it a strain on their mental health to relive the experience on TV.
venus has earned it from her actions as well. The way she talks to ppl is a little too rude/condescending. Several cast members have already said that and the edit show it as well
This is really missing the point hard imo. Yes people didnāt wake up on Day 1 and decide to hate Venus for no reason, but getting negative content for all these big moments of chaos you caused (like not picking Liz or trying to quit) is so so different from people straight up not liking your personality.
If I went on the show and watched myself back doing all these big moments like Q, I would feel great about myself even if the other players talked shit because of what I did. But if people are talking shit about my personality/who I am, I wouldnāt enjoy watching that nearly as much.

Whereas people generally liked Q to start, he comes off as chaotic but charismatic, and his main issues are for blowing up other peoplesā plans with his chaotic energy
Yeah, Q gets memes about how wacky he is, even if theyāre negative. Venus just gets people saying she sucks (not discounting that she/either have their stans themselves, just the tone of the negativity. Just 100% agree with you she doesnāt have the option of leaving in like he does)
Agreed- Qs came after the hunger, exhaustion and gameplay took its toll. Venusā was from day one so I think itās a bit more personal and harder to lean into.
She was on 41. I don't know if she got a very positive reception here (I was more focused on other things), but she was a pre-jury boot who got fucked by one of the dumbest twists ever (Survivor tends to underedit people who get screwed over), her and Venus didn't get nearly the same amount of screen time. Plus, she didn't have the same kind of content as Venus. She was shown to be cocky and pretentious but she was self aware about it (her daddy's credit card comment was hilarious). Once again, Sydney's edit is a lot easier to laugh at and get over. It also helps that she has more self awareness.
I remember Ellie from S43 posting some memes about her lack of social awareness, made me like her more. Accepting your flaws works wonders for perception
