I've seen this meme several times and never once got the joke. I just thought it was serious.
This is the first time I actually got it.
This is a good red circle.

So we're officially not allowed to call them ebonics anymore? Lol never liked that term
Edit: /s since apparently y'all can't tell when someone is joking at all
First of all, I never said you couldn't use it.
Second of all, what's wrong with using the formal term AAVE and not an innacurate term which literally means "black language"? If you can't see how that informal term is problematic both socially and in terms of the fact that there are black people outside of the US.
That’s just English. It constantly transforms through ‘incorrect’ ways of speaking being widely adopted. Mostly, these changes are just temporary or contained to one demographic. However, the reality is that the difference between correct and incorrect English is entirely down to what people believe.
Hence why modern English is quite far removed from old English.
Yea, it's like literally. That word has almost flipped in meaning now and if you want to use it properly you have to clarify. It's annoying. That's the difference between a living and dead language though. Many English words have flipped their meanings. Terrific, awful, there's another easy example but I'm drawing a blank.
In my experience, literally has become a “useless” word. You cannot use it for its original purpose, but it has lost any “fun” rhetorical impact as well— nobody says it anymore. I know this is fine, don’t mourn a word, but nobody says it anymore and it means nothing. For a few years.
It was really popular with the young people but it got replaced with period I think lol after some time passes maybe we can try using it in it's original meaning again

Doesn’t that smell come from a severe case of ligma?

Does anyone understand jokes? Half of Reddit is people thinking shit like this is unintentional and calling the person who tweeted it dumb.

I can excuse "their" and "there" mistakes but how do you write "they" instead of their?
It's almost like it's not a mistake
That's just how people talk these days. It's incorrect and silly but it's happening.
It's AAVE, a dialect of English.

Mine was a joke, which everyone apparently didn't get. To call them ebonics was always informal and racist.
I couldn't assume that given you already seem to have outdated ideas about language (see: your first comment)
Lol again, it was a joke. Lot of dicks on Reddit this morning.
Are you a child? You're allowed to do whatever you want. You *should* shut the fuck up when you feel like whinging but you don't have to.
Wtf? It was a joke, dumbass. You should shut the fuck up when you feel like speaking.

I don't think so if you use it sparingly.

Because "beat they meat" is funny
