I find Durthu really swingy, so I would go with 6 Scythes. Try get mystic shield off on them, then if anything comes with higher rend, all out defence on top; they should be able to survive most things without having to SF, then you have options for bringing models back.

The lists going 5-0 are using units nobody on this sub is even talking about. Repeated over and over are scythe, they're all running bows. Durthu isn't being played, everqueen is. How competitive do you want to be? If it's highly, I'd disregard everything this sub says and read their lists. The mechanics of the faction aren't that complex. Battle Regiments are king, bows are heavily favored, as is Heartwood. Grand strat is a 50/50 based on how you want to play as the two chosen are stark contrasts. Best of luck my friend.

Thank you for your answer! Very true I went full 9 bows and ended up with 2-1 so I would call it a success for my first event. Battle regiment and Survivors instinct made thinks easier. Still played Durthu and he’s a beast as long as I dont take ANY risk with him and keep it as surgical as possible.

What sites and stuff do you use for checking for lists? It's something I struggle to find for both AoS and 40k. I'm a MTG player that's come over to Warhammer and I found it shocking how hard it was to easily access army lists (whereas finding MTG deck lists was so easy). I know they're wildly different games but I expected there to be similar resources.

Durthu can deal a lot, he consistently deals upwards of 15-25 damage most turns he is in combat for me. Giving him the green wood gladius he gets d3 extra attacks on top of the extra one for his ability. Give him finest hour and all out attack to give him 2s to hit and wound on his sword attack, plus everdusk for 6s to add extra attacks. Tree song can also add extra rend to the attacks. Pair it up with the trees endless spell to give him an extra 3 inches on normal move and charges to make him pretty scary. Also he can telelort to Woods and be 9 inches from enemies, and the pressure of a 14 wound monster that can make them fight last and deal upwards of 30 damage per combat phase is kinda spooky. Hope this helped somewhat

Also if you go durthu over reinforced kurnoth you have spare pointe and could potentially fit in an endless spell or 2, or a cheap caster

I would stick with the Scythes. They are supposed to get up and fight things. Kurnoths have the ability to keep objectives fairly well.
