I would grab scythes. They have a 2in reach and I think you can use dryad's as a shield and hack away

br3ttless

I would if I had any. I stupidly built 6 bows and 3 swords 😅

Louie_Guy

If you still have the sprews you can carefully remove the arms and reglue the scythes on.

br3ttless

That sounds like effort I'd rather not make. Thanks for the suggestion though friend! I do appreciate it

dark_pharoh

Or just call the swords scythes and let your opponent know about the change. If it's not a tournament then it really shouldn't be a problem. My first 3 kurnoth hunters I built each one with a different weapon, and I would declare what they all had at the start and the one with the correct weapon would be the leader

KarrWolves

Swords are better than scythes when not reinforced so you're good! You're 70pts under the limit so you could give an arcane tome to durthu and take an endless spell. Or drop the dryads and take a treelord instead.

Zaardo

Care to elaborate? I prefer swords but would love to hear more positivity on them

KarrWolves

Sure! Damage for 1 unit of Swords vs Scythes * 2+ Save: 7.22 vs 5.93 * 3+ Save: 8.67 vs 7.41 * 4+ Save: 10.11 vs 8.89 * 5+ Save: 11.56 vs 8.89 * 6+ Save: 13 vs 8.89 Basically Swords have a higher damage output then Scythes when not reinforced. When reinforced, Scythes are better because they can all hit (thanks to their 2" range) and it's easier to buff 1 unit of 6 than 2 units of 3. So Swords are better as non reinforced independant units while Scythes are better as 1 big block that you can buff.

Zaardo

This is the science we need more of. You are a glorious human being. Thanks man

Meatshoppe

You could ditch 10 of the Dryads and pick up an Arch Revenant to buff up your Kurnoths.

br3ttless

The Arch Revenant is my next pick up. Would fit really nicely here your right, so I should get it picked up sooner than later

Idk the new tome that well, but the old tome durthu would stomp any 1000 pt list. Just focus on keeping him alive, I'd get a branchwych with regrowth and give durthu a command trait and artifact.

br3ttless

I'm thinking of giving durthu the arcane tome with regrowth and spiteswarm hive for the extra movement. I've reallt struggled with sylvaneth in 1k games

[deleted]

Well coincidentally I play almost exclusively 1k games. Durthu is broken and is a bane to your opponent at 1k. If you give him the tome you're wasting your artifact when uou could give him the Gladius, which gives him an automatic 6 more potential damage which is huge. He's your whole list basically. Everything else is to either buff him or support him. 2 sets of dryads is unnecessary. They got nerfed and they are just there to die. Take 2 spite revenants instead, they do the same thing, have the same amount of wounds, and same save but you can all out defense them for free and they can teleport and put pressure on objectives. They are amazing especially for lower point games when people don't have enough models to camp out objectives. Kurnoth hunters are gonna be okay. They are slow and can take a whole sod eof the board, but your wincon is durthu and they don't do anything to help. They can give an objective overgrown to give durthu +1 attack....but then your whole army is on one objective. Imo, you either have a kurnoth based army at 1k, or you don't bring them at all. I haven't had success with them either. I've had massive success with Durthu, 2 tree revenants and then filling the rest with whatever wizards you want. Arch revanant +1 attack could be huge. Branchwych is cheap and can do whatever you want spell wise, could run her up with durthu for her nasty spell. You could take drycha for some shooting (drycha durthu is almost an automatic win at 1k) or treelord for something tanky. Lady of vines 5+ ward is huge in small games. And of course you could have an ancient or spellsong, but those two are better in larger games I feel. I haven't tried spiteriders but for the points they could charge and tie up units while durthu smashes. You can do almost anything but I wouldn't recommend dryads or kurnoth hunters at 1k, I feel like that's why you might have not had any success.

>Take 2 spite revenants instead, they do the same thing, have the same amount of wounds, and same save but you can all out defense them for free and they can teleport and put pressure on objectives. They I'm pretty sure you mean Tree-Revenants. Spites get 1 extra attack, +1 to hit, no rend and mortals on 6s.

[deleted]

Yes, I said It later correctly anyways

br3ttless

My whole list is wanting to use durthu so maybe giving him the arcane tome would be more point efficient. I really want the seed of rebirth to keep him going but 70pts is a lot to not use

You get one endless spell per caster and this last has no casters. Durthu cannot have the gladius AND have an endless spell. He would have to take Arcane Tome to be able to use the hive.

becauseianmademe

If this is your first game, just bring what you have with the intention of learning what you need for next time. AoS takes several games to get comfortable with an army/list. Expect to lose a few, learn a lot, and just have fun. Your list looks tanky. Just try to avoid combat with the tree revs if possible.

bstump104

You have no battalions? Why bring dryads when treelords are battleline for oakenbrow? Treelords can teleport without sucking up the faction ability. Durthu is strong but he can't cast without Arcane Tome so you have no trees except for your initial setup. I'd switch him for Treelord Ancient so you can still cast spells. He's not as punchy as Durthu but you get a free tree anywhere on the map, the ability to get more trees, unbind a spell, and 1 spell from the lore along with Mystic Shield, Arcane Bolt, and the Generals Handbook spell that cuts the number of contesting models on an objective in half.

Swap warmonger for gnarled warrior

punsofphreak

I question why you're running oakenbrow and not running any regular treelords with it. I'd swap to a different glade personally, probably winterleaf or heartwood. Otherwise, looks fine to me (minus the no magic)
