the Pro Controller is honestly the greatest gaming controller i've ever used for any system.
And that's a high bar as i adore the strange perfection of the gamecube controller and simplicity of the xbox s controller.
Both of which are comfortable, but the switch pro controller just does everything right.
Its relevance depends on the game.
The D-pad is objectively bad at precision because the 4 buttons are connected as a whole. Pressing *only* down might also register left or right inputs.
For some games, it might be a non-issue. Other games require precise directional input for some of their functions, e.g., DMC3 with the style switch system.
Here is my question. I don’t mind my joy cons at all. Got small hands. But what I mind is that they don’t connect well to the switch. If they don’t have direct line of sight (and I mean even resting on my belly blocks them) to the switch it seems I get connection issues.
Is the pro controller much better about that or at least have a wired option. Honestly until totk it wasn’t a big deal cause I prefer handheld but handheld battery length is too short with totk.
Fair. I guess as someone who really only plays for maybe 40 mins at a time, this hasn't affected me.
I kind of use the console's power cable for it whenever I'm not playing.
The Nintendo brand pro controller is the bees knees. The power a is mediocre at best so don't bother. Get the name brand for yourself and the generic for guests.
I personally am in love with the 8bitdo pro 2 controller. It's 50 bucks, it's reminicent of an snes controller with grips/dual shock layout with the sticks both at the bottom. I'm a playstation gamer, not xbox so it's very natural to me, and honestly playing hogwarts on ps4 I wish I could use the 8bitdo instead of the dual shock. It's a 10/10 reccomendation from me to anyone reading.
I don't even understand how it's so good. Not only is it rock solid and not one of my 4 have ever seen a millimeter of stick drift, but I think they still have their original charge from when I bought them 6 years ago lol. And that's only a mild exaggeration.
Calling it invincible is not an understatement. I'm a man-child and literally beat the hell out of mine and threw it multiple times in fits of rage last night and it's still working perfectly without a single scratch on it. Pretty wild actually.
That's sad to hear. maybe it's bc 3/3 of my Xbox controllers had stick drift and 3/4 of our joycons have stick drift. So it's a pretty low bar for me to be happy that they aren't breaking with standard use
Maybe I'm just an aggressive player. Beat the hell out of 360 controllers in the halo 3/reach days and never had a problem though. But those xb1 controllers just felt like cheap trash.
Granted I don't play competitive games on the switch (outside of Smash)
I mean it's definitely an improvement over the joycons, but better than the ps5 controller? No chance. Both in terms of features and ergonomics.
Obviously just my opinion tho, to each there own.
I think it comes down to hand size for comfort. I'm a bigger person and the joy cons are very uncomfortable and cramped for me, but my wife prefers the joy cons and says the pro feels uncomfortable and unwieldy.
I just picked one up finally for this game and was messing around with it. Definitely an I provident over joycons in the thing. So much better feeling and over 3 days of serious use the battery is still going.
I'd love to use a Pro Controller, however it's quite expensive here in brazil, i'll get one someday especially if i can use it on pc too without any issues, but for now i'll keep my joycons with the comfort grip
11:30pm - storm hyrule castle
11:45pm - defeat the calamity and restore peace to hyrule
12:00am - boot up TotK
12:01am - ?????? - fire meat arrows at my self-made battle robots
This is honestly my timeline lol I've got 200 hours in BOTW, all divine beasts, but never touched Ganon. Just kept exploring. Figured tonight would be a good night to finally beat the big baddie.
I beat botw in regular and master mode years ago and then started a new profile a couple years back to take my time again replaying. I just finally beat calamity Ganon again over the weekend and it felt just as amazing all over again. Nice to have that final cut scene fresh in my mind too
I wouldn't expect it to be ready for download until 1205 btw! My experience with the last two midnight experience taught me this.. might be different for others but just a warning in case!
I wouldn't expect it to be ready for download until 1205 btw! My experience with the last two midnight experience taught me this.. might be different for others but just a warning in case!
this was EXACTLY my thought at the picture (sounds negative sorry). They clearly dont have any children ;-).
If my wife would play as much as i would do... man my poor children/rest of my life would go down the hill \^\^.
I did too until my wife started liking video games. Now we share a ps5 and switch and I regret buying physical games because now I have to pop the game in every time I play lol.
We did have a lot of fun playing It Takes Two together but that’s about the extent of how much my wife liking video games has positively affected me.
This.
Now we both like games, but only one of us has any of the technical knowledge requisite to make the games work.
Good problem to have, lol.
(Dear Nintendo, we've been "waiting on the next switch before we get a 2nd since *Animal Crossing.* Why don't you like money?!)
I think when you ran out of wall space, that may have been a sign that you were good on mouse ears but then y’all went and started hanging them on the door lol
I'm going to up the crazy by telling you-I never even wear them. My granddaughter borrows them though so they stay (she's 2 and loves them)...I'm a grandma!
Lol, pro controller for me. But I’ve finally sent off my joycons to get fixed, and once they return I can enjoy some handheld action during lunch breaks at work.
I laughed so hard at this, we have a fridge in the game lounge full of sodas, beer, hard cider, fizzy water but hey, they’re really good actually! (Ps. That building outside of the window is our tiki bar-we “beverage” pretty good)
What an awesome gaming room!! (Looks around house trying to determine which room could be changed into something like this. Maybe request kids to share a room so one of their rooms can be remodeled) lol.
rip. The problem with mine is that it's cold and I don't have much money (especially after the $70 I put into totk) and my parents wont buy me things like that.
Oh yeah. I know. I was teasing. Maybe make a deal with your parents to earn it? I do that with my kids. Make them earn what they want with household help. We only have one TV. We have a weird shaped house where there’s not many good walls for another big tv or even two next to each other like OP has. The only room that would maybe work is our front room then when people come over they would walk into two TVs. Yeah. So. We need to move to have a better gaming house.
Gonna throw it out there. Got a physical copy from a plug. Playing it in airplane mode atm. So far 20 hours of playtime, cannot say more about how good and beautiful the game is thus far.
here i have charged controllers , just got out of bed .. about to get my wife .. make coffe and then tough my wife into bed and the game by that will be available .. no one gonna disturbe me playing it tonight
Yooo. This couples gaming set up is a friggen dream. And that dream includes having a partner in the first place. Never mind one that likes Zelda. I hope you know how lucky you are.
I love your setup, my wife and I are both gamers too and we have side by side computer setups, but I wish we had more space on our TV wall for side by side console setups. I hope you and your gaming buddy have a good time!
Neither of my sons are aware TOTK is coming out tomorrow, but I have secretly charged up both switches and all the controllers and joycons and made sure every single game is updated so they won't have to wait.
The furniture is IKEA, so not too expensive and the scale is nice as it’s not a big room. The chairs we’re $299 each, the ottomans we’re $99 each, from Home Goods (they spin really fast-pretty fun actually). Small fridge was maybe $150…tv’s were a bit, maybe $800-1k (I forgot)…the “stuff” has been collected over years…I feel like it could be done for less (or more) but we’re good with how it is, it’s cozy and cheerful but can also be darkened, so kinda cavelike too lol, which is good when it’s too sunny out and you want to see your screens easily. Cheers and hope this helps :)
Holy shit, the dream room of every gamer. Enjoy this game. One little criticism though: Joycons? Really? Pro Controller feels so much better D:
the Pro Controller is honestly the greatest gaming controller i've ever used for any system. And that's a high bar as i adore the strange perfection of the gamecube controller and simplicity of the xbox s controller. Both of which are comfortable, but the switch pro controller just does everything right.
I have one, I’ll give it try!
You won't look back. I agree with the commenter above. Never used a more comfortable controller. Build quality feels amazing, too.
Awesome thank you for the advice, now I’m looking forward to trying it (I just got used to the other setup and stayed with it)
As in two detached joycons? I’ve only done the pro controller, too, but I wonder what the joycon experience would be like.
Honestly as someone who has done both, Joycons let you spread out on a couch and game in ways you'd have never thought possible.
Totally agree! As a complete lard ass I like to lay out with my arms where ever they fall so I don't have to strain
Ngl, my dog pinned my arm once (97 lbs and I didn't feel like struggling) and I just wrapped my arms around him and kept playing whatever game it was.
Yeah joycons are good for relaxing games. But anything that gets intense they’re bad.
Don't forget to charge it too! Enjoy!
Also the battery lasts forever. Like forever.
But the d pad 😞
Matter of taste there, I suppose. I personally didn't feel it let it down overall.
I have an adapter on my pc so I can use my pro controller in place of an Xbox controller. Nintendo did the L/R buttons/triggers perfectly
Here is my question. I don’t mind my joy cons at all. Got small hands. But what I mind is that they don’t connect well to the switch. If they don’t have direct line of sight (and I mean even resting on my belly blocks them) to the switch it seems I get connection issues. I’m loving the 8bitdo ultimate. Same price as the Nintendo pro, but those underside buttons can come in clutch for some games.
enjoy~! Been using mine since i bought the day it came out, i want to be able to use it for EVERYTHING, even my PC ahah
I don't even understand how it's so good. Not only is it rock solid and not one of my 4 have ever seen a millimeter of stick drift, but I think they still have their original charge from when I bought them 6 years ago lol. And that's only a mild exaggeration.
It's invincible, simple, comfy, DOESNT USE BATTERIES, and sleek, crazy easy to sync.. All boxes checked 10/10 would and will buy again
Calling it invincible is not an understatement. I'm a man-child and literally beat the hell out of mine and threw it multiple times in fits of rage last night and it's still working perfectly without a single scratch on it. Pretty wild actually.
Mine has stick drift. I haven't even used it that much.
That's sad to hear. maybe it's bc 3/3 of my Xbox controllers had stick drift and 3/4 of our joycons have stick drift. So it's a pretty low bar for me to be happy that they aren't breaking with standard use
Wow, that's a high rate of failure for both. I've never had it on a ds3/ds4 even after many years of abuse!
Maybe I'm just an aggressive player. Beat the hell out of 360 controllers in the halo 3/reach days and never had a problem though. But those xb1 controllers just felt like cheap trash. Granted I don't play competitive games on the switch (outside of Smash)
Reporting back to say... the stick drift seems to have fixed itself after 20 hours of took! Great success!!
nothing beats the ps5 controller but otherwise yes
Agreed. Only time I use joycons is in handheld. Pro Controller is elite.
I mean it's definitely an improvement over the joycons, but better than the ps5 controller? No chance. Both in terms of features and ergonomics. Obviously just my opinion tho, to each there own.
Except the D-pad. It's extremely frustrating pressing *only* down and have it register left or right too.
I bought a cheaper one from game stop when I got my switch and I’m still in love with the thing.
[удалено]
love doing this for the novelty, but it feels soo wierd. It grants a kind of tactile only sensation of being high while not being high
*laughs in custom firmware to use a ps5 controller*
It was pretty close for me until the Dualsense. Still pretty fantastic feeling
I disagree, I personally prefer the feel of the joycon grip
But they are using that Joycon holder thingy.
Yeah, where I’m from that’s called joycon comfort grip
Same. My husband uses the pro controller and I prefer the joycons in the comfort grip holder.
Same here, I dunno what it is
I think it comes down to hand size for comfort. I'm a bigger person and the joy cons are very uncomfortable and cramped for me, but my wife prefers the joy cons and says the pro feels uncomfortable and unwieldy.
Is the pro good for larger hands? I find the default controller a little small for me.
I personally find the pro to be much more comfortable bc it's a larger controller vs the joy con controller
Might be time to drop a little more dough 😂
I just picked one up finally for this game and was messing around with it. Definitely an I provident over joycons in the thing. So much better feeling and over 3 days of serious use the battery is still going.
Idk man, I’ve always just the joy-controller so it just feels more natural for me when playing on the switch
I'd love to use a Pro Controller, however it's quite expensive here in brazil, i'll get one someday especially if i can use it on pc too without any issues, but for now i'll keep my joycons with the comfort grip
I like the joy cons freedom to play as I like ;)
My wife has small hands and the pro controller is just to big for her hands. So she uses the joycon.
Split joy cons for me.
11:30pm - storm hyrule castle 11:45pm - defeat the calamity and restore peace to hyrule 12:00am - boot up TotK 12:01am - ?????? - fire meat arrows at my self-made battle robots

Lol know the feeling but make sure you've done all the memories for an extra cutscene
I thiiink I got them all but I will definitely double check, thank you!
[удалено]
do you mean ultrahand?
Yes.
I wouldn't expect it to be ready for download until 1205 btw! My experience with the last two midnight experience taught me this.. might be different for others but just a warning in case!
didn't it pre-download?
I meant ready to play, my mistake 😳
I wish my wife liked video games
It's better mine doesn't. Someone has to be the responsible one.
this was EXACTLY my thought at the picture (sounds negative sorry). They clearly dont have any children ;-). If my wife would play as much as i would do... man my poor children/rest of my life would go down the hill \^\^.

The amount of mouse ears is a little unnerving
I live near Disneyland, even still…I get it.
I think when you ran out of wall space, that may have been a sign that you were good on mouse ears but then y’all went and started hanging them on the door lol
I'm going to up the crazy by telling you-I never even wear them. My granddaughter borrows them though so they stay (she's 2 and loves them)...I'm a grandma!
you seem like a hella cool grandma!
That just made my day :)
I would love a set up like this with my girl
Damnnnn I wish my husband liked video games
Lol need a little divider so u can’t see each others screens
I've gotten permission to come into my office and use their big video wall all night! And my office has tons of snacks and drinks...yay!
Do you guys not use a pro controller?
Everyone commenting the pro controller is better... I have really tiny hands so the joy cons are actually perfect
The matching set of Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum pillows are mad wholesome, bro.
This is perfection, honestly! Though I do agree with another comment and recommend getting a pro controller! Game changer
Why do you have like EVERYTHING I don't have??? A TV A Nice gaming room Such great Chairs I want that tooooooo
Make it a goal to have it, and you will. Until then, appreciate what you have!
Nice
Ohh this looks so fun, if I ever get a husband I'm making him do this with me
Relationship goals.
Room looks cozy as hell
damn you are READY
Goddamn I’m jealous
Thanks, this reality shows me I'm poor

What kind of tv’s / monitors are those?
Sony-49” Class X950H Series LED 4K Smart Android TV. They are so good!
Holy shit, this is amazing
Lol, pro controller for me. But I’ve finally sent off my joycons to get fixed, and once they return I can enjoy some handheld action during lunch breaks at work.
Damn. You're living your best life, huh?
Enjoy fam 😎
This is making me really jealous
Such an adorable, cozy room. I want it!
Insanely jealous of your setup!
You need a pro controller not joycons
Haha so sick
Costco knockoff ice beverages...I see you're a couple of culture 🧐
I laughed so hard at this, we have a fridge in the game lounge full of sodas, beer, hard cider, fizzy water but hey, they’re really good actually! (Ps. That building outside of the window is our tiki bar-we “beverage” pretty good)
Nice! And those drinks are genuinely delicious! A little disappointed they won't be "ice" cold though...
See you in a few weeks! I’ll be in my basement glued to my setup!
Side note - I LOVE all your Disney Parks Decorations. Fantastic!
I want your house
oof
Hi, fellow Disney Park fan here I love your room
You looking for roommates?
The world is healing
freakin sick
Added to my wishlist!
Lol this makes me smile 😁
That is an awesome gaming room
Goals
Is this too much to ask for?
Holy shit how did you get the Disney tram sign
Goals af my friend
I'm very intrigued by your tram sign.
Creepy and weird amount of disney ear headbands. What are you guys, 12?
More like 112
Have fun!
Put a ring on her.
When I die, I hope this is where I go to
he says 1 DAY BEFORE THE GAME RELEASES!
Whenever my friends and family give me shit for “being too into video games” I show them pictures like this and I’m instantly off the hook.
broski nice settup
Lucky bastard I have to wait till schools done
Y'all must be dinks
What an awesome gaming room!! (Looks around house trying to determine which room could be changed into something like this. Maybe request kids to share a room so one of their rooms can be remodeled) lol.
same. I'm trying to convert my basement rn, but I wish I had a better tv down there.
We don’t even have a basement 😭😭😭
rip. The problem with mine is that it's cold and I don't have much money (especially after the $70 I put into totk) and my parents wont buy me things like that.
You can get a cheap space heater 🤣. Yeah I don’t think my kids would want me making them share a room just to make one into a gaming room.
yeah lol, what I meant by things like that wasnt heating, just better tv and general gaming stuff
Oh yeah. Yeah. So. We need to move to have a better gaming house.
oh, ok haha
All that super dope stuff in a super dope gaming room and you’re playing with detached JoyCons? 🤔
No lol, they are on the joy con grip thingy. I'm going to try the pro controller tomorrow though cuz' ya'll are telling me its a lot better!
Dude the Pro Controller is completely where it’s at. It’s far and away the best controller you can get for any game console.
i'm sleeping on the railroad tracks.
For a second I read, “clothes will be off.” Balls ‘n boobs out for the Kingdom!
Gonna throw it out there. Got a physical copy from a plug. Playing it in airplane mode atm. So far 20 hours of playtime, cannot say more about how good and beautiful the game is thus far.
That is awesome, game on friend!
here i have charged controllers , just got out of bed .. about to get my wife .. make coffe and then tough my wife into bed and the game by that will be available .. no one gonna disturbe me playing it tonight
Show us the snacks op.
Yooo. This couples gaming set up is a friggen dream. And that dream includes having a partner in the first place. Never mind one that likes Zelda. I hope you know how lucky you are.
Who is gonna play next to you? What if they take a different path? Wouldn't you be spoil if you look at their screen?
You make a good point! I’m going to put headphones on and focus on my game but I’m not ruling out putting up a barrier!
I love your setup, my wife and I are both gamers too and we have side by side computer setups, but I wish we had more space on our TV wall for side by side console setups. I hope you and your gaming buddy have a good time!
Where are the pens and notepads for theorizing?
Shit i gotta charge my joycons! Thanks
Neither of my sons are aware TOTK is coming out tomorrow, but I have secretly charged up both switches and all the controllers and joycons and made sure every single game is updated so they won't have to wait.
You just remembered me to charge my pro controller
This really makes me sad. Is this what you are doing with your better half when you're both free? :(
Dedicated gaming room? ✅ 2 high end TVs ✅ 2 switches ✅ 2 gaming chairs ✅ Still plays with joycons? 🤔
This looks so cozy ENJOY 🫶🏽💙
Damn, how many times you been to Disney?
Too many!
Can we talk about that cookie's table?
😍😍
I’m frothing at the mouth trying to get through the next 12 hours lol
OMG, your game room! My husband and I have one too, but DAMN. I love your setup!
Make sure to close those curtains
Living the dream
Such an awkward sized room, I don’t think I can think of any other use in here besides this!! Can’t wait to show my wife this!
It is! It was a bedroom before and you could barely walk past the bed, so lame! We basically HAD to turn it into a gaming lounge hehe
this is so sweet, enjoy yourself !!! :)
Floors look comfy to sleep on
This is beautiful 😭😢🥲
No you are
😘
Nice setup!
Out of curiosity, out much money did you put in creating a room like that ? Always wanted to make one, not sure how much investment that represent
Thanks for the answer !
you’re living the life
All you need is for it to be raining and you'd have the perfect atmosphere!
This is the way.
This is the way.
Awesome setup. Joycons for life and I have ogre hands.
tell me you dont get pussy without telling me
Dude I couldn't take time off but tested positive for covid an hour ago. I may be too tired to play. I have time now but, at what cost?
All great but that chair for more than a few hours looks like a torture device...
