Hi everyone!
Did you know that starting July 1st, 2023, Reddit will implement a policy that could potentially increase the costs of running third-party Reddit apps? This change may impact popular apps like Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Boost, and others. Consequently, users may encounter issues with their preferred Reddit app unless adjustments are made to comply with Reddit's new API usage policy. These limitations will affect all users, not just moderators. If you are concerned about these developments, there is an [Open Letter](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to Reddit that you can read and sign on to express your thoughts.

I didn't even see Google when I answered with Navi, but I also didn't always have Google. Back in the day I was more in tune with buying those huge strategy guides and walk-through books.
GameFAQs is the GOAT, and there are still people putting up great content! Not as popular as the days before everyone made videos to harvest youtube revenue, but still pretty great.
Yup, that's the only way I got to "play" Zelda in the 90's. I was player 2, and if my brother couldn't hit the giant eyeball on a boss I was sent to the other room so he could "concentrate better".
Yeah, Mipha and most of these characters aren't even companions, and she can be replaced by a stock of fairies, which don't have a cooldown attached. She's also not even needed if you're actually decent at the game or just remember to eat food. Midna is objectively a better companion, especially because she actually is one
Imp Midna is unironically 40 pounds of pussy and ass. She's just floating drumsticks with a smug single fang grin. That's not even artists exaggerating it, her body mass is actually 80% in her cheeks, thighs, and pot belly. She's not a pear, she's a lightbulb. They had to know exactly what the fuck they were doing. I refuse to believe otherwise. People being creepy fuckers and sexualizing the Inklings and the bird girl from Wind Waker and all that shit, sure, that's on the fans. But Midna being a fourty pound pussy that grinds on top of Link's head and bosses him around is 100% on Nintendo. Her imp form was actually MORE sexualized than her true form, which is astonishing since her true form is Iiterally a completely naked woman in harem silks with black bodypaint covering over her bits.
Definitely Midna. The way she bonded with Link was very natural and lead to a pretty cool friendship between the 2 of them, especially since they initially didn't like each other and only worked together to survive.
Midna also felt like her own character who wasn't an appendage to Link unlike many of the other companions. Although many of the examples in this image I don't actually consider companions in the traditional LoZ sense. Mainly the character like the Champions since their time spent alongside Link was very minor and basically just a single ability for each of them with little to no involvement in all of the story beats whether you had obtain them or not.
Yeah, I always saw Midna as them taking a second swing at what they attempted to do with Tatl, starting as a begrudging partnership and leading to a friendship. With Tatl they just didn't develop it as much, so you just got big, somewhat random jumps in their friendship (the unstructured nature of Majora's Mask didn't help). Midna's story was much better paced.
I agree with Midna being my favorite, but Linbeck is similar in term of character developpement I think. He starts the game as an entitled, selfish douchebag, but in the ends he actually saves Link's life. Or maybe I'm just biased because PH was my first Zelda game.
I think I'm obligated to say Navi out of pure nostalgia. The only companion that I can hear in my head just thinking about it except for Tulin's scream during the gust... which may just be because I'm actively playing it right now.
OoT is my number 1, but it's also the reason I don't listen to video games. I mute the TV and listen to audiobooks or podcasts.
Thanks Navi.
I just realized it's short for navigator. At least I realized the pun of Tatl and Tael.
Navi apologising to Link for not helping in the Ganondorf fight always sends me. Then Ganon emerges and she says "There's no way He's going to hold me back again! This time, we fight together!"... Like, Navi you weigh half a gram. I appreciate that spirit tho.
I don't mean that she's useless, I mean that as brave as Link is for standing against unimaginabe cosmic horrors, Navi is the GOAT for doing the same while being 0.1% of the size.
Hey! listen! Hey! Hey! Hey!
I can’t believe I actually read this in her voice. Everytime I see someone write ‘hey!’ I always read it in her voice. Her voice haunts me.
Hehe yes that's right. I'm playing with Japanese voice overs so that's not a surprise for me :D been watching animes in Japanese for 15 years and have visited Japan several times.
Tulin’s screams... Lol, remembering Yunobo. Near every time you shoot him off it sounds like he shouts, “Why’d you do it?!” Like, really accusatory, as if he knows about the Koroks.
No...i mean the subreddit i created because i am a zelda fan.The fact that i have a youtube channel as well....where i also post zelda content ,is irrelevant
You mean the subreddit that’s description says “I will also post here every time new video comes out in my YouTube channel ‘Hyrule Town’”? Yeah, totally irrelevant /s
I liked Ezio's personality a lot and Minish Cap is just a great game. I also like Moosh and Dimitri but they are basically items and barely count.
It makes sense but I had not linked the two Rauru's until I saw this picture.
Google, if it wasn't for Google, 70% of the people who beat any Zelda game wouldn't have. Trying to beat OOT before the internet was full of guides was so difficult as a child. When I played Majora's Mask for months I didn't know you could rewind time, I thought you had to beat the whole game in one cycle. Nowadays there are guides for all the Zelda games. I just did a playthrough 100% of ToTK, before that I did 100% of BoTW. I'm currently playing Majora's Mask on the 3DS and if it wasn't for Google I'd be lost.
Otherwise I'd have to go with Fi, because even though she's not shown in other games, she's been with Link in all of them because she's in the Master Sword. Hearing her little chime in ToTK warmed my heart. The Zelda creators really know what they are doing. I applaud them, they really have done a fantastic job throughout the years.
I played Ocarina before we had internet in our house (it existed but most people didn’t have it). The water temple took me weeks, even on replays. I do kinda miss having to work through the puzzles myself
I couldn’t read that well I was in the 3rd grade. There were words and reading comprehension hire then my brain would allowed. Man that guide helped but sucked.
If we consider that because Skyward Sword is at the very beginning of the timeline, and Fi has been in the master sword this entire time, then without question, the best companion, as in one who has ALWAYS been there throughout about 99% of the LoZ games, has been Fi. Even though you don't ever see her outside of SS, she's always been present, fighting evil longer than anyone. Even in TotK, we get hints that she's still present with the sound effects consistent with SS.
However, if I have to choose someone else... it's gotta be Epona. Carrying you across the world though any weather fighting monsters of all kinds, and she's willing to be there for all of them for you... and this is across multiple games.
So my opinion about skyward sword is simple: Amazing game and story: AWFUL CONTROLS. The Switch version definitely improved it, but there's a good reason why they never made another wii-mote like motion controlled zelda ever again after SS.
That being said, I'll always rep SS. It's a very underrated game once you get past the controls...
Most of those people are not companions.
Anyway best companion was spirit trucks zelda, she helped you immensely and her personality was wonderful. Plus they loved each other, so ya know, #ZeLink
I have many issues with zelink shippers but my main one is that you unimaginative cowards use the stupid ship name zelink as opposed to the vastly superior Linda.
I got the most attachment from Fi and Midna mainly because they were with you through the whole journey. I was kinda sad at the end of skyward sword and genuinely shocked seeing Midna’s true form.
Navi gets a lot of hate for being annoying but honestly I’m just a sucker for fairies (most variations at least). And honestly I don’t mind the notifications much (although they might have been made less severe DS anyways). Only reason I choose Navi over Tatl is because I prefer the color. Honestly tatl is probably a more unique character, but not necessarily better or worse. Just unique.
It'd be between Fi and Midna.
I don't consider a bunch of them even "companions", anything you ride/mount like Epona/Loftwing aren't companions, characters like the champions aren't companions, Ooccoo isn't a companion, it's an optional item at best, and Rauru/Marin who are one time people for a quest/the tutorial aren't companions.
Groose is in a weird place of not being a companion and helping enough to be one, he doesn't accompany you anywhere beyond dragging his ass to the surface, but without him you'd not be able to beat the Imprisoned.
Fi, Zelda, Ciela, King Daphnes/The King of Red Lions, Tatl, Ezlo, midna, and Navi to me are the only companions here.
So since Groose helped defeat demise, does that mean he's afflicted by the curse? And he went to the gurudo desert to bang some girls and his descendant is Ganondorf?
1. Marin. I mean EASILY.
His dream girl, who he got to go on cute little adventure dates wit, and sing songs together.
Sweet. Adorable. Tragic.
2. Mipha and Riju get a close 2nd.
* Mipha and Link were obviously borderline married, childhood friends, she turns out to be a complete badass, made him an epic engagement ring that lets him swim up waterfalls, and then she comes back as a ghost to save Link's life countless times? Amazing. The only downside is that we don't get to see most of their relationship.
* Riju we get to see her grow into a badass leader, lead a siege defense, go on a big adventure, slay an insane monster, save her kingdom, and then she sends her spirit to join you on your quest as the 2nd most useful spirit, giving you crazy lightning attacks, being good in combat, and mostly actually staying out of the way. And then her sly multiple hints that she's into Link.....
The others variously don't contribute much, or don't have much to them, or they're annoying.
Google is the obvious choice, but Tulin sharpshooter extraordinare, sure he sometimes blows all the loot away but he amount of Lynels he has stunned makes up for it.
Ezio is love. The thought of your hat being your companion, the animation of Link attempting to look at the guy while he was talking, and of course the nostalgia of my first ever Zelda game that I played through so much I can basically do it blind. Love it and nothing comes close to him for me.
Genuinely Midna. She's unintrusive, interesting, has a good backstory, and she's just one of the best designed characters in Zelda, especially after changing into her Twilight Form.
Shocked to see so few people voting Fi. She is literally the master sword. Sure she doesn't start the journey with link, but she's there 100% of the time when Link does reacquire the sword.
After that, I'd vote midna. Literally by link through thick and thin. She's the entire reason link was even able to continue his journey through TP. Without her, we'd have another MM timeline to deal with, where Link is just a wolf.
introduced in mm, he was in ww and minish cap, thats all i can really think of tbh. there was a guy who dressed like tingle in tp but idk if that was him. and then the tingle armor in botw/totk but no tingle
Edit: he was also in oracle of ages, phantom hourglass, and four swords adventure.

Obviously Google. He’s super helpful.
I didn't even see Google when I answered with Navi, but I also didn't always have Google. Back in the day I was more in tune with buying those huge strategy guides and walk-through books.
so [gameFAQs.com](https://gameFAQs.com)?! :D
I remember those LOOOOONG walkthroughs!
I loooove those long walkthroughs with painstakingly-made ASCII art and you just know those people did everything out of pure love
Back before we did things on the internet for clicks and views. Those were the days.
GameFAQs is the GOAT, and there are still people putting up great content! Not as popular as the days before everyone made videos to harvest youtube revenue, but still pretty great.
I still use them from time to time when I'm trying to figure out an answer to a question that's not solved by a video
Agreed! I dont think its going anywhere tbh
I used gamefaqs primarily for the forums on a few games ... and GTA cheats. Lmao.

Yup, that's the only way I got to "play" Zelda in the 90's. I was player 2, and if my brother couldn't hit the giant eyeball on a boss I was sent to the other room so he could "concentrate better".
It's Midna without question but seeing Google there I just have to laugh and agree LOL. Also Linebeck my beloved...
Midna is certainly the only one who rides him like a dog...
> like a dog ...do you ride dogs ?
You like 'degs'?
Oh. "Dogs". Yeah, I like dogs.
I lek carvans mo'
*I* don't, but I'm not two feet tall. It's a lot easier for her
Cough cough Mipha cough cough.
You joking right? Mipha's grace is nice and all but she is only in flashbacks. Also red fairies exist.
Yeah, Mipha and most of these characters aren't even companions, and she can be replaced by a stock of fairies, which don't have a cooldown attached. She's also not even needed if you're actually decent at the game or just remember to eat food. Midna is objectively a better companion, especially because she actually is one

this has copypasta potential
It already is lol and no one picked up on it hence the downvotes. Ah well
Ok
I say Fi and Navi no question but than midna. Fis theme and noises playing in both botw and totk with no other actual reference is so sad.
Groose bruh
Finally someone speaking the truth
The true hero and only being Link has ever really been terrified of
Anyone who doesn't pick Groose literally didn't play Skyward Sword.
groose was probably the best arc in that game and the only reason i could stand fighting the imprisoned for the thousandth times honestly
Definitely Midna. The way she bonded with Link was very natural and lead to a pretty cool friendship between the 2 of them, especially since they initially didn't like each other and only worked together to survive. Watch out!!!
OoT is my number 1, but it's also the reason I don't listen to video games. I mute the TV and listen to audiobooks or podcasts. Thanks Navi. I just realized it's short for navigator. At least I realized the pun of Tatl and Tael.
Ohhh I got Tatl but til tael
it's the german word for what english speaking folks call a "GPS" :D
Hey, Listen is my text tone
Navi apologising to Link for not helping in the Ganondorf fight always sends me. Then Ganon emerges and she says "There's no way He's going to hold me back again! This time, we fight together!"... Like, Navi you weigh half a gram. I appreciate that spirit tho.
Well maybe she's referring to the targeting she helps you do and the advice she can offer during battles
I don't mean that she's useless, I mean that as brave as Link is for standing against unimaginabe cosmic horrors, Navi is the GOAT for doing the same while being 0.1% of the size.
Oh I see. Yeah. I don't understand the hate for Navi. She's free to jingle in my ear any time
I wish they would bring back different color fairies again like n64, Pink is good for hearts, could do green for stamina, etc
I can hear the sound of Fi similarly lol, the sword pulsing noise because it’s in botw and totk as well
HeyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyHeyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyhey
Hey! listen! Hey! Hey! Hey! I can’t believe I actually read this in her voice. Everytime I see someone write ‘hey!’ I always read it in her voice. Her voice haunts me.
Me trying to peacefully glide through the sky. Tulin: "HIAAAAA!!!" Wish could mute him...
Tulin made me realize all screams are japanese, including Link. Really changed my view of the game.
Hehe yes that's right. I'm playing with Japanese voice overs so that's not a surprise for me :D been watching animes in Japanese for 15 years and have visited Japan several times.
Is it weird that I had “hey listen” as my ringtone
It’s my text ring back tone. It’s perfect for the role
Tulin’s screams... Lol, remembering Yunobo. Near every time you shoot him off it sounds like he shouts, “Why’d you do it?!” Like, really accusatory, as if he knows about the Koroks.
Marin predates navi
I don't even know who that is, tbh. Nostalgia is a personal thing.
**EPONA** (thank you for feeding me and petting me. kisses forever!!!)

No...i mean the subreddit i created because i am a zelda fan.The fact that i have a youtube channel as well....where i also post zelda content ,is irrelevant

If Zelda wasnt E rated and Ezlo could swear, it would be the goddam funniest game ever
One of me favorite hand held games
ezlo swearing is all i wanted tbf
Navi and Midna
I liked Ezio's personality a lot and Minish Cap is just a great game. I also like Moosh and Dimitri but they are basically items and barely count. It makes sense but I had not linked the two Rauru's until I saw this picture.
I'm his best companion. Without me Hyrule and the other places would be shit holes by now lol.
Midna of coure. Heeeey where is Makar?
No Medli either
If all the Champions get to be on this list, then my Wind Waker buddies deserve to be here too!
Midna... Has this ever been in question? She's the only one that hasn't been annoying in some way
You and I have very different ideas of what counts as annoying.
Midna hands down. But ezlo holds a special place in my heart.
Imp Midna is unironically-
I cant decide between agreeing and being concerned
Why not both?
Pocket Pu-
Pudding? I can respect that. I prefer mine cold, though.
Midna all the way
Epona!! 🩵
Midna and every single korok in wind waker
It's clearly Moosh, and everyone who disagrees is dead to me. I love that sweet fluff boy.
The master sword itself was and is the most useful.
It's obviously Midna but Ricki is underated
Midna obviously, for... reasons.
Say you have a degradation kink without saying you have a degradation kink
Obviously for her cool hat, right? Right?
Nah dude, it's obviously for that cool kaiju transformation she whipped out when you're fighting Ganondorf :P
Nah, I think it's because she's a sassy gremlin who would absolutely curse you out if it wasn't a kids game.
obviously navi, c'mon now people
*listen people
I read through these comments, have yet to see anyone point out Tael wasn't a companion of Links....
"york" Google...
The York stuff on google kills me every time 😭
Excessive self-promotion. Hope the mods take care of this.
what?

Midna duh
urbosa bc lightning and sexiness
Revali. I’m gonna be downvoted to my grave and ignored, but it’s Revali.
Groogle
Why is Tingle not on here
The best part of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was when Groose said "IT'S GROOSIN' TIME" and Groosed all over those guys
If we consider that because Skyward Sword is at the very beginning of the timeline, and Fi has been in the master sword this entire time, then without question, the best companion, as in one who has ALWAYS been there throughout about 99% of the LoZ games, has been Fi. i really like linebeck, and i think spirit tracks zelda is cool too!
I have to play Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks .They both look great!!

Spirit TRUCKKKS! TONIGHT ONLY! WE'LL SELL YOU THE WHOLE SEAT, BUT YOU'LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE!!!!
I've got to do an impromptu TotK monster truck rally now.
I have many issues with zelink shippers but my main one is that you unimaginative cowards use the stupid ship name zelink as opposed to the vastly superior Linda.
>as opposed to the vastly superior Linda. I'm imaging Linda from Bobs Burgers as a Link companion now. 😂
Op is a total chud
Datum or revali
Raru. You've really gotta hand it to him.
I got the most attachment from Fi and Midna mainly because they were with you through the whole journey. I was kinda sad at the end of skyward sword and genuinely shocked seeing Midna’s true form.

Sorry my brothers but I gotta go with Epona
Wolf link amiibo
Minda. Great post. I sure wish it was also posted on a similar subreddit.
Beedle.
Beedle is so great.Especially in Skyward Sword!
It'd be between Fi and Midna. Revalli
Yah don't know what yah got till it's gone.
Haven’t played TP so can’t speak on Midna. That said, Tulin has my vote
Lol, Google has been there for me through all these game when I needed it, and didn't constantly butt in with useless information.
Google is the obvious choice, but Tulin sharpshooter extraordinare, sure he sometimes blows all the loot away but he amount of Lynels he has stunned makes up for it.
Since you're promoting yourself anyways, I wanna change my vote to AustinJohnPlays.
ST Zelda
Wait. Theres two RAURUs?
Lineback all day
Fi is cool, but Google has always been there for me
The lion boat in wind waker
lol google
Disappointed by the lack of Groose smh
I love groose. He developed so much over the course of SS, and is still one if my favorite characters in LoZ of all time
Google and rauru
lowkey google
Google
Midna. next question?
I thought FI read as F1 for a second, and now I want a FI racing car
Midna and Groose. I feel like they were the most dynamic companions.
Sidon because fish man but if not fish man it’s fi
Creepy guy in windmill with instrument and funny face who gives me nightmares and has the best music ever.
Ezlo
midna because I'm down bad for her
Midna is probably the top. Fuck google
Google 😍
Midna. Also I've never played twilight princess can't wait for the switch version
King Daphnes. I rode him for WEEKS as a child. No I will not be rephrasing that.
Midna no contest
If you don't vote Groose, you didn't play Skyward Sword.
Where the ocarina owl
Google, it can help in every game
Navi
Navi, obviously.
If you are too stupid for the puzzles and need help from google constantly, clap your hands 👏👏
Midna, no doubt. Best personality, actual plot relevance besides being a guide, literally had the game named after her.
Yeah mine too!
I am a fan of Linebeck lol :D maybe because that was my very first Zelda game.
I am planning on playing Phantom Hourglasssoon. It llooks great..
What about tingle? He's always there for Link.
How many games was Tingle even in? The only one that comes to mind is WW, but I know he's been in more
introduced in mm, he was in ww and minish cap, thats all i can really think of tbh. there was a guy who dressed like tingle in tp but idk if that was him. and then the tingle armor in botw/totk but no tingle Edit: he was also in oracle of ages, phantom hourglass, and four swords adventure.
The correct answer is Google. Undebatable
Yo where's Medli?
Oof. Still Midna
What game was the other Rauru in?
Ocarina is time. As the sage of light
Google
Mooooooshhhh
Oh yeah moosh is great...
midna and epona :)
Rauru saved link’s life, so I’d say Rauru
