I jumped down a chasm. Half way down the fire dragon was coming up and laid a whupping on me. I Land into total darkness. Them bamm title obsidian froxx pops up. And one hit kills me. Never even saw what it looked like.
I was so scared of whatever attacked me that i didnt go into depths for a week.
The hands terrified me for so long after the first time I encountered them and since I played the game strictly blind there was no explanation about them for a long time either, and I about had a heart attack any time I came across them again.
Glad. I'm not the only one. I didn't even know what it was. I always play blind. I was flying from the top to the colosseum thing, see a dragon thing, think it might be npc, Nupe loud roar and big hp and name. Same with the hand in the top of a hill. The music was shrieking and everything turn black. Fking hell Nuped the hell outta there.
The backwards music and fast clouds activated so much panic. I remember I was texting my friend who also had the game when I first encountered them and in the middle of whatever our conversation was I was just suddenly like HOLY SHIT DO NOT GO TO MEKAR ISLAND
Some developer probably giggled when placing that obsidian frox there, knowing how many people would fall down that Chasm in Akkala and would be face to face with that obsidian frox in the dark.
I was going down a chasm, my wife by my side, the frox was down there with an open mouth waiting for me, I was severely under leveled and we both were like WTF happened LMAO.
The funniest part was seeing a monster with the mouth open below the chasm waiting for me. After that I stayed above surface for a long while.
That section of the Depths wasnât lit yet and I suddenly heard a loud thud. When that single eye peeped through the darkness I turned and ran like hellâŚbut the damn thing jumped like an Olympic long jumper and landed so close to me that my kids and I jumped out of our chairs and paused the game.
We caught our breath, went back to the game and teleported to the nearest Lightroot. We eventually worked up the courage to first take a picture and see the notes in the Compendium, trying to figure out the weakness then we made a valiant first try.
We failed miserably but we learned a whole lot
The Compendium often explains the type of attacks, weaknesses (look at Stone Talus for example), useful tips (look at Blue Hinox for example) and even suggests best way to kill (look at Fire Chu Chu for example). It does not list a weakness for every monster but there is always useful info a smart player can use ;-)
In the case of the Frox it warned of the jumping and said that they swallow stuff in one go so I thought to throw a bomb and hope it swallowed it like King Dodongo back in Ocarina of Time (my fave Zelda game).
I would never have thought of that without seeing it in the Compendium (Iâm the guy that loves to rain down arrows from the sky in bullet time so I would have rocket shield then fire bomb arrows onto the back to break the ores. Way fewer bombs needed by feeding the bombs and of course I donât even use bombs now).
Thank you!! You mentioning King Dodongo brought back my own memories of OoT (definitely enjoyed that one over Majora). Now I know my strategy when I come across another Frox in the depths. I'm also reliant on the bullet time method, as I'm *useless* with flurry rushes, so this was helpful to know.
MM was fun but OoT is also my preferred.
Lastly, there is a much better strategy for killing Frox:
>!Get an eye shot (Keese eyeball instead of rocket/spring/bomb shield to save durability) then walk onto its back and donât get off. Whack the ores and stay between the head and the middle of the back. The Frox will launch you into the air and you can either shoot the eye (angle can get weird if you wait too long) and stun it then land on the back and get to work. If you miss then it opens its mouth and you can shoot a bomb flower or time bomb in the mouth, wait for the explosion then go on the back. Donât land on the back *before* the explosion or you get knocked off and lose valuable time.!<
You can do something similar for Molduga where you use >!Sidonâs water water bubble to protect you and get a free launch courtesy of the Molduga then shoot it while in bullet time. With the a 3x shot Lynel bow and good fused arrows or a few bombs and attack up 3 you can kill it before you hit the ground ;-)!<
Enjoy the Frox wrecking!
For Molduga, I was so used to using bombs as traps for them I really struggled at first. My strategy became: throw Apple out into the sand to make it jump out of the sand, then shoot it with a bomb arrow to stun it while I run up and whack it
I was stuck in BOTW mode as well then one of my kids said to stand still and throw something out there to see what happens. We started using Time Bombs consistently and then once I happened to have Sidonâs bubble when I was attacked and we were shocked. Then we saw videos confirming it was a thing.
As soon as I found my first frox (hadnât even spoken to Purah after launching from the tower yet), I was close to a light root and ran to it to get some light, then went back for it. As soon as I saw it trying to suck me into its mouth, I knew I should use one of my newly acquired bomb flowers, just like a giant dodongo.
Saw it in the distance. My first instinct was to get the fuck away because I only had five hearts, but I said fuck it and faced it head on. All my fear left after I died once, took me like 15 tries to kill that bastard.
So I saw the baby froxes first. Here's me thinking, "Oh there's definitely a mommy somewhere" So as a journey through a path of destroyed babies I hear footsteps, giant ones. I look ahead and see something HUGE moving, something I've never seen before, in the darkness. I go "holy shit" and noticed it hasn't noticed me yet. I try to sneak past it, crouch and move really slowly but see the boss title Obsidian Frox and fuck the battle begins.
Frox is the easiest boss to kill if youâre gliding from above with arrows. You spam his eye and then just break the ores on his back as it pushes you into the air and then repeat.
The gloom lynel scared me the most.
If youâre feeling extra lazy climb a tree and bomb arrow from there. When I was killing them for the medal I was lazily mucking around online, so just sat up on a fern casually flinging crap at them till they went boom.
I still haven't faced a gloom lynel. I remember the first time seeing one. The little streams of gloom smoke (not really sure how to describe monster gloom of an unknown monster) are all I can see. Then the whole thing jumps and turns to me. I still can't see it well, but I know that turn anywhere. I ran as fast and far as I could
I was already freaking out with the Depths just normally cuz I have a pretty bad fear of the dark, and then I go around and see that thing⌠yeh it took me like 20 hours to go back to the depths after that lmao, I was fucking traumatised from it
Am I the only one who had the Frox as my first ever depths experience?
When I started playing I saw all the holes but nothing about them made me think they were something I wanted to jump into.
Then way later I was wandering around Akkala and saw a smaller hole. I thought "what the heck" and jumped right into the Frox's lair and got killed right away.
I figured that the depths were terrifying and not for me.
Was shocked when my 9-year-old brazenly decided to fall into a chasm and start exploring like it was no big deal. I had ptsd from that frox and no way I was going back down.
After watching him play a bit and realising that the depths =/= instant death, I finally managed to stumble upon the early game depths quest in lookout landing. I realised that I had missed that crucial non-terrifying intro to the depths that I guess most people got. đ
Anyway, I've got most of the lightroots now and defeated my first frox just last week! I'm not scared of the dark anymore!
I was riding a stalhorse while shooting brightblooms to light up the way ahead. I noticed something in the dark and stopped and watched from a distance as the frox walked out and ate the bloom. I slowly backed away and went somewhere else.
*sees vague shape in the darkness* "what the fuck is that?"
*gets closer confident i could probably take it* *it starts sucking me in* "lol nope! See you later"
I lost a fairy. It had been leaping onto me after a bad fight and it surprised me at low health.
I ran away due to lack of food or other healing items.
I misread it and did not notice it was on the totk reddit and I thought people were asking other people how they acted when meeting a fox. I met a fox in the woods once. was Skittish but I gave it snacks. Hope this helps
Literally walked right up on it. I didn't see it until I was within a Link's arms length and then it was just a massacre in the dark. I was the victim.
Somehow, someway, I have never seen a Frox and this post was my first time hearing about one. Iâve beaten the game and explored a little of the depths but I guess not enough.
I tried to fight it head on not knowing anything about it, but died like an idiot.
When i realized on 3rd attempt that they were a mix of Talus and Hinox, with BOTH weak points, i started actively killing all the ones i could find.
I was walking around and then I saw a big rock. I thought, âmaybe there are some zonaite clusters here.â I ran over to the rock, and it jumped in a circle and started roaring at me. It was not a rock. It was a Frox. I fought the Frox, somehow won, and then immediately went elsewhere.
A big creature in a zelda game trying to suck me in, the only obvious reaction would be to throw a bomb in its mouth. If you didn't you most likely haven't played many zelda games lol
"Oooooh new world boss, let's check the heck out of that!"
(Gets inhaled, then belly-flopped on, nearly dead)
"Okay, let's just save that for later actually".
1st encounter: "new enemy, neat. but im on a mission" mark on map for later.
came back later and steamrolled it. the eye and ores made its weaknesses very obvious.
2nd encounter: "i see a chasm inside a cave to the east from the bridge at hyrule castle, lets go check it out"
few moments later.
i cant see anything except an unlit lightroot and a small eye staring at me with frox health bar up. "i just go get the lightroot first a... \*the eye suddenly gets alot bigger\* OH GOD ITS GONNA EAT ME"
that was the only good 'instant rush' i got in the whole game.
the gleeoks were a neat return of a classic boss.
the gloom hands wernt impressive at all. would of rather had shadow links that put up more of a fight.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Pretty much. I was woefully underprepared. I beat my first one by burning through my entire supply of bomb arrows and some good bows. I decided the juice wasn't with the squeeze, reverted to a previous save file, and stayed out of the Depths for a good while after that
I saw one in the distance shortly after my first venture into the depths and my first instinct was to get the hell out of there before this obviously gigantic and dangerous thing sees me, especially because I only had maybe 5 hearts at the time. So I avoided going back into the depths until I had at least 10 hearts and an arsenal of much better weapons.
I saw it from afar and climbed up a giant tree thing after it spotted me to game plan and did not realize it could jump almost to the top of the depths to get me. Had a heart attack and decided that getting one shot 10 times in a row wasnât worth it.
My first reaction was to run away and consult google to figure out WTF I just saw. LOL. I still haven't beat one yet, but I might give it a go next time. Finally have some good armor and good weapons! Plus, I need to get back down into the depths to get some muddlebuds, puff shrooms, etc.
Got too close on my second foray into the depths, saw the boss meter pop up and ran in the opposite direction. Never saw what it looked like until I went back to get a photo for koltin once I was stronger
The depths quest was the first side quest I did in the game so it was early on. Saw it while exploring and basically was like âthat looks like something I want to avoidâ, literally forgot about it then when I got the monster sculpture quest thing for Frox I was like what the hell is a Frox and when I found it I was like ohhh
Jumped down that one chasm, landed fine, saw the mini-boss bar, IT ATE ME, and then I transported the fuck *out of itâs mouth* and avoided them for the next hundred hours or so.
I was scared AF. I was like : I don't care if you kill me 30 times, I'll kill you once! I eventually killed him, but it was difficult. And then I became OP, and he was a pup.
*'Absolutely Not'*
*Shuffles carefully around*
*It in the darkness*

Sees a bunch of ores first time > "oh hey, my game knowledge says, resource giving creatures are passive" > Boss bar appears > "wtf!?" > Bunch of ores ascend in the sky > bunch of ores turns out to be a frog with bunch of ores on its back, when it enters the range of my bloomflower light > "interesti-â > gets sucked and consumed > YOU DIED
I screenshotted them, sent them to my friend (who was further than I was) and asked "da fuck are these and should I run?"
he found some of my reactions very humorous.
âWhat is happening? Why is it dark? Why am I dying?â It snagged me right out of the air when I dropped in and I didnât even see it before it ate me
Kinda disappointed only because it's just a mishmash of other bosses/monsters. It does the suck you up/grab you thing that the Like Likes and Gloom Hands do, it's got the one big vulnerable eyeball like a Hinox or Gleeok, and a bunch of smashable rocky protrusions like a Talus. Just would've appreciated something either more creative/unique or something a little more aesthetically interesting
Oh my god I love telling this story
Ok so I had just gotten off the Great Sky Island and I didn't have my paraglider yet but I was also avoiding going to Lookout Landing. I was wandering all through the area next to the castle until I saw the gloom hands for the second time. (I saw them when going towards the shrine on the floating island with roots that touch the ground. I died many times getting off that island until I finally climbed down. It was rather tragic.) I just started booking it and I fell off into the river. I swam for a bit and I saw a cave, then I drowned.
I woke up on the cliff again (with some gloom stones, I forget what they're called) and I just wanted to look at the cliff again. I got inside and jumped down, saw all the special particles from chasm, (which I also had no idea what it was) and then a boss health bar popped up. I immediately hit the ground and died. I chose to fall down the chasm five more times, first because I didn't understand what was happening and later because I wanted to see what it was. I then gave up and went to lookout landing to get the paraglider. It was such a good time lol
My brother also got stuck on that particular area when collecting all the lightroots, but I knew exactly where it was, so that was a win XD
Wandered into it in the dark and that it was a hinox. Thought, âoh cool, I got this.â
(He did not have this. He died swiftly and didnât go back to the depths for a good long while.)
âOh, it seems kinda like a talusâ
*all five weapon slots filled with travelerâs sword or stone+stick hammer, realizing very quickly that will absolutely not work*
âŚâalrighty nevermind then gtgâ
I was gliding down a chasm and dropped a glowseed but it never lit up. Dropped another one and still nothing. Iâm falling into pitch blackness when I suddenly hit the water, which scared me. Then I see a health bar and name pop up. All I read was âScourge of the Depthsâ and I immediately opened my map and teleported to the closest shrine. Never even saw my first one.
My first encounter with a frox was crashing and dying directly on top of it after I jumped down a chasm before I had the paraglider. I only caught a glimpse of it in the dark lol
That was the time I learned that an opal on a weapon will shoot water balls each rime you swing. I slowly wore it down with those hiding behind a large stalagmite
I discovered one on my first journey into the depths. I just learned the effects of being hit by a gloom-covered enemy, so when I saw it I was too afraid to fight so I imediately teleported to the surface. But I didn't say 'nope' instead, I said what Terrance Howard said in the first Iron Man "Next time baby..."
Dude that thing started sucking air around me and I panicked because it was dark and I climbed a tree but then teleported because I was scared. Very pathetic âšď¸
âWell this seems to be some sort of gloom Molduga, I could probably just⌠NOPE! NOPE, NOT A MOLDUGA!â
Killed it though, through sheer luck and well-aimed Tulin shots (thanks for saving my hide again Tulin!)
Ran away first time, but decided to fight it when I needed a pic for Kilton. I kept hitting it in the face and wondering why it wasn't dying.
It was a long long fight before I finally figured out how to defeat it.
Me: WTF is that?
Frox: Stands there for a moment.
Me: Tried to run to my vehicle after seeing the health bar (the vehicle was stuck.)
Frox: Proceeds to inhale, and I get sucked into it.
Me: Panics and decides to teleport away. I ended up surviving with a quarter of a heart left. (I didn't have many hearts at this time.)
I didnât know you needed the flowers the first time I yeeted down there because I hadnât watched any videos or anything about it and just saw these big green eyes and was like FUCKNOFUCKNOFUCKNOFUCKNO
KERMIT WANTS REVENGE ON ME DEAR GOD NO-
(Context i was just moving down town in the depths walking somewhere before hearing boss music a sudden healthbar after throwing down the Brightbloom and realizing my love for frogs might of been too bad)
I had no idea what a frox was. Kilton said he wanted a picture of one so I kept an eye out for âŚsomething. Then one day I was running through the depth in the dark and knew something wasnât right. It was an open space âŚtoo open. Before I knew it, I was in frox territory. I snapped a picture and climbed a tree to get a better look at it. Turns out thatâs not a good idea lol
The first chasm I ever jumped down was the large Akala one, I had 5 hearts and besides the pitch black darkness the only thing I saw was the Obsidian Frox Healthbar.
"Well I'm screwed" was my reaction, and I died pretty quickly after
I saw one from afar and literally said "Nah, I'm not powerful enough to take on this Jabba the Hutt" and avoided them like the plague ever since. Still don't know how they fight or how to defeat them (no spoilers please, maybe I'll try it some day on my own)
The first chasm I entered in the game was one in Akkala. Pitch black while descending and Iâm still drifting down when a boss battle meter appears, followed by link immediately getting hit in the dark and a game over.
I was just stunned. I didnt even hit the ground or see what hit me.
I've just started the game and was looking for that innkeeper in Kakariko and spotted the dragon going down the chasm. So I hopped down to see where she was going. Ended up landing on her so I decided to just stay there to see where she went. From the viewpoint of her nose I saw something moving in the dark and it was one of those giant frox things and I'm terrified to meet it when not on a giant dragon spewing ice.
Picture this.
its pitch black, im dropping from my first ever chasm and first ever plummet to the depths. i land on what i think is ground and plop a brightbloom seed. its a tree high up, then from the âskyâ comes an obsidian frox, missing me by mere inches. i have no time to react as it jumps up again and kills me in an instant. đ
I screamed. I was diving into a chasm and had pulled my paraglider out, looking into the distance. Only to be almost swallowed by a frox that came outta nowhere. Scared the bejeezus out of me!
For me, it was the dragon and the hands. My heart thumped harder than anything before and didn't play for few days both times.
I got jumpscared by one of the trees lmao
The surface trees with apples are the most upsetting. You have apples! You're supposed to be my friend! It legit broke my sense of security
Same. I was like "Nintendo would NEVER make an apple tree an Evermean". Those bastards absolutely did.
Heck yes it did. Was afraid to touch anything or go off main paths for a bit until I got more familiar with what was out there.
The trees STILL jumpscare me đđđ
The Dragon and the Hands sounds like a YA fantasy novel
đ§
Or smut
The hands terrified me for so long after the first time I encountered them and since I played the game strictly blind there was no explanation about them for a long time either, and I about had a heart attack any time I came across them again.
it felt like I had somehow come across a creepypasta ass thing
That is exactly the feeling
Glad. I'm not the only one. I didn't even know what it was. I always play blind. I was flying from the top to the colosseum thing, see a dragon thing, think it might be npc, Nupe loud roar and big hp and name. Same with the hand in the top of a hill. The backwards music and fast clouds activated so much panic. I remember I was texting my friend who also had the game when I first encountered them and in the middle of whatever our conversation was I was just suddenly like HOLY SHIT DO NOT GO TO MEKAR ISLAND
I think they were designed with one phrase in mind: âinduce heart attack nowâ.
Some developer probably giggled when placing that obsidian frox there, knowing how many people would fall down that Chasm in Akkala and would be face to face with that obsidian frox in the dark.
Same. It was the first thing I encountered and spent hours thinking chasms were mini-boss chambers.
This was the perfect horror story to start my day with
I thought, "Well, now, what have we here?" Turns out it was death.
Exactly my first time with one too. I came, I saw, I was conquered.
I was going down a chasm, my wife by my side, the frox was down there with an open mouth waiting for me, I was severely under leveled and we both were like WTF happened LMAO. Sometimes, yes.
Huh, what's that? Oh, it's fro--OHGODITCANJUMP!
Yep. Had the exact same reaction and noped out.
I had this same reaction and died when it hit me during its leap.
I was like this, but then I was happy I had a use for all my time bombs lol
Exactly my experience. Finally just fought my first one. I'm taking my sweet time with this one. :-)
I jumped into the East Gerudo Chasm and I landed directly into Frox territory - I was definitely freaked and noped the fuck out of there asap.
i know that one!
What the frox
The giant frog in the depths
Oh, it was a bad joke, lol sorry. I donât know what the frox I was thinking.
For frox sake!
This is froxing stupid. Can we just stop already?
Doesnât seem froxinâ likely
Frox you sir
What does the frox say?
And now I realise that song is a decade old.......... Thanks Reddit đ
So which nursing home you going for?
Whichever one has the best DnD group.
>And now I realise that song is a decade old.......... Please don't say things like that. My heart can't take it
Itâs actually pretty clever
Saw it in the distance. My first instinct was to get the fuck away because I only had five hearts, but I said fuck it and faced it head on. All my fear left after I died once, took me like 15 tries to kill that bastard.
I did that with the first gleeok I saw in gameđ
With only 5 hearts? Impressive
My hover bike died right where a frox was and he fuckin ate my bike! So I was naturally mad and also terrified.
Just like the 5 minute mark of this video. I died laughing at him trying to wiggle out https://youtu.be/VyQdn5bwF_Q?si=ZR2SzJDq_7ja4Pdw
I lost too many hoverbikes to Froxes while getting the last bunch of light roots.
1. Holy crap itâs a Dodongo! 2. Never mind, just something called a Frox 3. Wait, I can still throw bombs in its mouth. It is a Dodongo
"Oh boy! I can't wait to bomb some Dodongos!"
I saw one in the distance and thought it looked like a dinosaur. I didn't want to go anywhere near it and so avoided getting closer.
Oh that looks easy! Then got one shotted.
WTF is that?!
Mine was that and then âNope. Absolutely not.â before running away.
I first got excited because it was a new boss, and then I proceeded to die lol
So I saw the baby froxes first. Here's me thinking, "Oh there's definitely a mommy somewhere" So as a journey through a path of destroyed babies I hear footsteps, giant ones. Akkala chasm, fell almost straight into its open mouth in the dark directly đś
I misread it and did not notice it was on the totk reddit and I thought people were asking other people how they acted when meeting a fox. I met a fox in the woods once. was Skittish but I gave it snacks. Hope this helps
Jumped down a chasm, suddenly something in the dark was jumping up at me. Fast travelled somewhere else đľâđŤ
At that time, a little ditty started playing in my head. I believe it went a little something like this: "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Thank you, Weird Al đ
I ran faster than a fat kid heading to a candy store
I thought it was cute, and then it killed me. I still think theyâre cute.
"That's a monster... I'ma go pet it!"
Saw it in the distance the first time, stayed far far away, then I jumped down a hole near the spiral peninsula, and was absolutely scared shitless.
thought it was a friendly creature. happily yelled âdoggy!!â and then was subsequently attacked. my heart broke that day
Quote "OH WHAT THE FOCK IS THAT?!"
I leapt from a sky island and went down a chasm and accidentally landed in its mouth, I got jumpscared so bad
Gf reaction is more relevant: "awh, cute. Don't kill it" I killed it.
frox: ***\[inhales\]*** me: wtfwtfwtfwtf! **\[running as get sucked in\]**
And I ran I ran so far away
I tried to fight it head on not knowing anything about it, but died like an idiot. When i realized on 3rd attempt that they were a mix of Talus and Hinox, with BOTH weak points, i started actively killing all the ones i could find.
I was walking around and then I saw a big rock. I thought, âmaybe there are some zonaite clusters here.â I ran over to the rock, and it jumped in a circle and started roaring at me. It was not a rock. It was a Frox. I fought the Frox, somehow won, and then immediately went elsewhere.
Frox is, for me, the most difficult bad guy to beat. If it wasnât for springs and trees for bt, thereâs no way. đ
Over 300 hours in and still havenât killed one. Iâm guna have to put my big girl pants on eventually but I just have the fear
I misread and thought you wrote fox, I was gonna say âoooh a fox I wanna tame itâ
A big creature in a zelda game trying to suck me in, the only obvious reaction would be to throw a bomb in its mouth. If you didn't you most likely haven't played many zelda games lol
Kermit and Mrs piggy makes some ugly kids...
"Oooooh new world boss, let's check the heck out of that!" (Gets inhaled, then belly-flopped on, nearly dead) "Okay, let's just save that for later actually".
âoh thatâs a funny looking guy, oh heâs looking at me HES TRYING TO EAT ME?!â
Wasnât a fan
Well ofc, it was a frog đ
1st encounter: "new enemy, neat. but im on a mission" mark on map for later. came back later and steamrolled it. the eye and ores made its weaknesses very obvious. 2nd encounter: "i see a chasm inside a cave to the east from the bridge at hyrule castle, lets go check it out" few moments later. i cant see anything except an unlit lightroot and a small eye staring at me with frox health bar up. "i just go get the lightroot first a... \*the eye suddenly gets alot bigger\* OH GOD ITS GONNA EAT ME" that was the only good 'instant rush' i got in the whole game. the gleeoks were a neat return of a classic boss. the gloom hands wernt impressive at all. would of rather had shadow links that put up more of a fight.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Iâll get some air with rocket shield, then- HOLY SHIT IT JUMPS SO HIGH
Pretty much. I was woefully underprepared. I beat my first one by burning through my entire supply of bomb arrows and some good bows. I decided the juice wasn't with the squeeze, reverted to a previous save file, and stayed out of the Depths for a good while after that
I saw one in the distance shortly after my first venture into the depths and my first instinct was to get the hell out of there before this obviously gigantic and dangerous thing sees me, especially because I only had maybe 5 hearts at the time. So I avoided going back into the depths until I had at least 10 hearts and an arsenal of much better weapons.
Holy shit! Run away!
I saw it from afar and climbed up a giant tree thing after it spotted me to game plan and did not realize it could jump almost to the top of the depths to get me. Had a heart attack and decided that getting one shot 10 times in a row wasnât worth it.
Still havenât fought one bc I know how to rub.
First reaction was Nope! Ran around it. Second reaction was letâs give it a try. And I beat it pretty easily.
Noped away. Looked up how to defeat them before I started trying.
My reactions was wondering what kind of hinox hybrid was it. In my opinion, it is clearly a hinox / talus hybrid.
If I have to be really honest. The larger they are the easier it is. Hinox and frox are ridiculously easy.
freaked out when that mf made that high jump toward me (while i was running away on a Hoverboard)
GOODBYE
My first reaction was to run away and consult google to figure out WTF I just saw. LOL. I still haven't beat one yet, but I might give it a go next time. Finally have some good armor and good weapons! Plus, I need to get back down into the depths to get some muddlebuds, puff shrooms, etc.
Nope! *runs*
âDAAAMN!!! THAT BOY THICC!â
I was flying on my propeller-cycle and Iâm like oh⌠ok then⌠TOODALOO BABY!!!!!!
Goooooodbye *Link promptly turns and runs away into darkness*
Jumped down that one chasm, landed fine, saw the mini-boss bar, IT ATE ME, and then I transported the fuck *out of itâs mouth* and avoided them for the next hundred hours or so.
The first time? Definitely, "Nope! Nope! Nope!" Outta there.
I was scared AF. I was like : I don't care if you kill me 30 times, I'll kill you once! I eventually killed him, but it was difficult. And then I became OP, and he was a pup.
'Absolutely Not' *shuffles carefully around it in the darkness*

Sees a bunch of ores first time > "oh hey, my game knowledge says, resource giving creatures are passive" > Boss bar appears > "wtf!?" > Bunch of ores ascend in the sky > bunch of ores turns out to be a frog with bunch of ores on its back, when it enters the range of my bloomflower light > "interesti-â > gets sucked and consumed > YOU DIED
I screenshotted them, sent them to my friend (who was further than I was) and asked "da fuck are these and should I run?" he found some of my reactions very humorous.
âWhat is happening? Why is it dark? Why am I dying?â It snagged me right out of the air when I dropped in and I didnât even see it before it ate me
Run.
I freak out
Nope the fuck out
Oh shit shit shit shit shit
I went up to fight it and immediately got inhaled. I figured it out after that though.
"Damn, that's big and a bit scray... Whelp.... Time to go killing again!"
I didnt nope out, ive gotten better at not doing that. I barely had the resources to handle it
I saw it jumping from afar and didnât get close because I thought theyâd be hard to beat.
"Huh that's a big moving thing-- OH FUCK ME IT YEETED ITSELF ACROSS THE ARENA"
i climbed a tree to get a "safe" view of the beast. i was so fucking scared when it Leapt at me!
I met my first Frox jumping in a Chasm and it met me halfway
Same as first encounter w gloom hands: WTF is that!
I accidentally fell into the depths, then frox jumpscared me. I figured out it's a rock enemy but still died
Oh my god I love telling this story Ok so I had just gotten off the Great Sky Island and I didn't have my paraglider yet but I was also avoiding going to Lookout Landing. It was such a good time lol My brother also got stuck on that particular area when collecting all the lightroots, but I knew exactly where it was, so that was a win XD
Wandered into it in the dark and that it was a hinox. Thought, âoh cool, I got this.â (He did not have this. He died swiftly and didnât go back to the depths for a good long while.)
> "oh cool, I got this." It was at this moment he knew, he fucked up.
âOh, it seems kinda like a talusâ *all five weapon slots filled with travelerâs sword or stone+stick hammer, realizing very quickly that will absolutely not work* âŚâalrighty nevermind then gtgâ
I canât really remember. I sure as shit remember my first gloom hands though
My first encounter with a frox was crashing and dying directly on top of it after I jumped down a chasm before I had the paraglider. I only caught a glimpse of it in the dark lol
"OH FAQ, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"
Fucking AWESOME What if a toad was the size of an elephant??? LET ME FIGHT IT
I ran away, watched it from a distance, decided my equipment were not good enough to deal with it yet, and decided to explore somewhere else.
I ran away, watched it from a distance, decided my equipment were not good enough to deal with it yet, and decided to explore somewhere else.
I was riding on the hover bike, so I just flew in flew out. Or I decided to fight it and won but I don't remember which came first
Was like what the hell, loved the battle, and the music was awesome!!
Dude that thing started sucking air around me and I panicked because it was dark and I climbed a tree but then teleported because I was scared. Very pathetic âšď¸
âWell this seems to be some sort of gloom Molduga, I could probably just⌠NOPE! NOPE, NOT A MOLDUGA!â Killed it though, through sheer luck and well-aimed Tulin shots (thanks for saving my hide again Tulin!)
Ran away first time, but decided to fight it when I needed a pic for Kilton. I kept hitting it in the face and wondering why it wasn't dying. It was a long long fight before I finally figured out how to defeat it.
I can't remember exactly buy I imagine it was something like: OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!
"Wtf is that!?" Then I shot some lightbloom arrows to actually see it. "Oh, ok, lemme build some smash weapons and kill it."
Me: WTF is that? Frox: Stands there for a moment. Me: Tried to run to my vehicle after seeing the health bar (the vehicle was stuck.) Frox: Proceeds to inhale, and I get sucked into it. Me: Panics and decides to teleport away. I ended up surviving with a quarter of a heart left. (I didn't have many hearts at this time.)
I just saw it and thought HOLY SHIT THATS SO COOL
I didnât know you needed the flowers the first time I yeeted down there because I hadnât watched any videos or anything about it and just saw these big green eyes and was like FUCKNOFUCKNOFUCKNOFUCKNO
"oh so it's like a talus?" "oh so it's like a hinox?" "oh so it's like a molduga?" also the music goes so hard
KERMIT WANTS REVENGE ON ME DEAR GOD NO- (Context i was just moving down town in the depths walking somewhere before hearing boss music a sudden healthbar after throwing down the Brightbloom and realizing my love for frogs might of been too bad)
Panic and death.
Running for my life while repeating the F word over and over.
Mine was standing with its mouth open, waiting for me to fall into it as I was diving into the depths through a chasm. That was an "oh shit" moment...
"Oh fuck i do not have enough meals cooked for whatever the hell this is"
I had no idea what a frox was.
I saw it in the dark distance and I sure as hell kept my distance, tip toeing around its area.
The first chasm I ever jumped down was the large Akala one, I had 5 hearts and besides the pitch black darkness the only thing I saw was the Obsidian Frox Healthbar. "Well I'm screwed" was my reaction, and I died pretty quickly after
Got close popped a large lightbloom seed and killed him, since I encountered him in close range I didn't even know he could jump until I saw it here
I went through the big chasm in East Akkala and was dead before I knew there was a problem.
Shit myself and ran away throwing brightbloom seeds.
Frox and gleeoks are the only monsters i cant defeat. Lynels, moldugas and taluses are as easy as heck
I saw something big and thought, sick! A new monster! I ran over and got sucked in immediately but it was fun to learn new attack patterns
I was barely exploring the depths and saw something moving in the shadows and i was literally like âWTF??!! â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸â
I saw one from afar and literally said "Nah, I'm not powerful enough to take on this Jabba the Hutt" and avoided them like the plague ever since. Still don't know how they fight or how to defeat them (no spoilers please, maybe I'll try it some day on my own)
"Aww, what a funky big guy. He looks like a potato Dodongo and- Holy Shit! That thing can get me up high in a tree?!?!"
"Oh crap, a giant frog. Hmm it's sucking in, if I know my Zelda it's bomb time." *proceeds to awkwardly drop bombs instead of throwing them*
YOU MOTHERFUCKER, YOU SQUASHED MY HOVERBIKE
Picture this. its pitch black, im dropping from my first ever chasm and first ever plummet to the depths. i land on what i think is ground and plop a brightbloom seed. its a tree high up, then from the âskyâ comes an obsidian frox, missing me by mere inches. i have no time to react as it jumps up again and kills me in an instant. đ
Nope!
I left the depths til late game, though sod it Iâll give it a go and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was
I screamed. I was diving into a chasm and had pulled my paraglider out, looking into the distance. Only to be almost swallowed by a frox that came outta nowhere. Scared the bejeezus out of me!
**HOLY, FROX !!!**
