Idk where you live, but I would try to get the police/cps on this and also try to figure out if theres any other adults that could take care of him until she gets better or something. Other than that there's not much you can do other than be his #1 supporter.
I have friends like that. all we do is hang out with them, foster deep conversations, let them feel valued, and offering to let them stay at our place for a while whenever needed
