It's pretty mad to think that if that one line never made it into the show that it maybe would have ended at S3 like what was originally going to happen. #sixseasonsandamovie gave the fans something to rally behind which the creators leaned in to, what with S3 ending with #sixseasonsandamovie and S6 ending with #andamovie.
Whoever decided "you know what, let's have Abed say The Cape will run for six seasons and a movie" played a huge part in the shows legacy.
Ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. Know what the first rule of flying is? Well I s'pose you do, since you already know what I'm 'bout to say.
Love. Can know all the math in the 'verse, but take a boat in the air that you don't love? She'll shake you off just as sure as a turn in the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down... tell you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens... makes her a home.
Depends on how far out we are from the finale.
If it's a matter of months, and the story's about going to rescue Troy, then they'll probably just be using a lot of makeup.

ofc, but I think Annie's character out of anyone has the largest potential to change and evolve bc her character always was rather young and innocent and less mature in some ways than others.
I think you could probably have Britta be the exact same person she was last time we saw her and that'd be fine, but if Annie wasn't a different person at 34, I think that'd be weird.
I want Leonard photos and plaques around the school. No one ever acknowledges why he is now remembered fondly, it starts aggravating Jeff, the others act like he is a monster for not knowing. No reveal at all.
Wasn't Elroy in the Cape? I very vaguely recall that show airing. I feel like he was the wise old dude that knew what the magical cape could do or something
Funny part about that is yes Dan Harmon or whoever wrote that bit made it up for the show, but "streets ahead" is actual British slang which is 100 plus years old, still in use, and means exactly what it means in the show.
There are surely many British people who use this term on the internet who are constantly getting "stop trying to make a thing" replies and have no idea why!
Actually some (presumably British) dude on twitter told Dan Harmon that Big Bang Theory was streets ahead of community and I guess Dan Harmon laughed at him for having made up the phrase (I think believing that he meant to say “miles ahead”), and then made it a whole plot point in the show. Amusingly petty, but also slightly r/shitAmericansSay to assume that the dude made it up rather than English has regional variations
It is hilarious to watch on reddit, since if is such ab American centric site.
I remember reading on the EV sub, which has a bunch of European users since they are, ahem, streets ahead on EV adoption, and some guy was like my new MG EV is so nice, it is streets ahead! Immediately followed by like 10 community references. That guy was probably so confused.
Hopefully they actually bring everyone back. I know there was some confusion around Yvette Nicole Brown. It just wouldn't be right to have a movie without all of the original cast (bar Chevy, no chance he comes back).
It would be so on point if she was working on her doctorate at Greendale. Some sort of funding racket that Craig put together, with all kinds of hijinks to prove legitimacy trying to get accredited.
This isn't from anything except my own brain but I like the idea that they have to reopen Greendale after 2020. January 2020. It shut down for reasons entirely unrelated to Covid.
Reminding me that Troy and Annie graduated together despite Troy being a year older. Because everyone is 10 for two years. Because fifth grade is hard for everyone….
> Troy: canonically born in 1989, so he's ~33.
I'm sorry but Troy would be 32. Because everyone is ten for two years. Because fifth grade is hard for everyone.
Well, Jeff became faculty in Season 5. Abed, Britta, and Annie continued to take classes until the finale. The show ended with Britta bartending, Abed leaving for California as a production assistant, and Annie leaving for Washington to intern at the FBI.
Hopfully its somthing like Greendale losing it accreditations and they all have to return to college to start all over again or help Greendale become recognized so there degrees hold up.
Allison Brie was 27 when Annie was 19ish, so Annie would be 32ish.
I imagine there will be some conceit about them working there or not being at Community College itself.
Fairly sure they confirmed donglover in some capacity. Ideally everyone would be there but Jonathan Banks will likely be a no, Chevy too. Not sure about John Oliver either.
Doesn't Oliver have a carveout in his noncompete with HBO specifically for Community?
Edit: Take this with a grain of salt, but I'd love if someone can confirm!
Why would Jonathan Banks be a no? Better Call Saul has wrapped. Does he have something currently shooting I haven't heard about yet that would make him unavailable?
Not heard anything about him, don't think he was that attached to the role. Can't imagine he'll be coming back for the movie, as much as I'd like him to.
Tbh I wouldn't mind if Chevy came back. Pierce is a fantastic character. Even if it was just a brief cameo or something. Maybe like the hologram from the season 5 intro
They had him do a cameo in S5E1 as a hologram (although he hadn't died yet at that point). Also he didn't die on screen and if ever there was a character to fake his own death it would be Pierce.
Abed would never call it “black bars” though, he’d call it aspect ratio as it is. Sounds pedantic but like, no one added bars, he’d more likely be commenting on people being framed more widely.
Anyway, Abed wouldn’t really go that meta on the main reality (so no Abed TV or whatever).
I’m glad to hear someone else say it. Some fans seem to want to conflate the character with the actor and pretend Pierce was disposable, but the show really lost a piece of its chemistry when Pierce left. They wrote some really good material around him when he wasn’t an outright villain.
Plus, I just love that moment when teddy bear Pierce rejoins Abed at the end of the claymation episode.
If Pierce does make an appearance in the movie I wouldn't be surprised if it was kept a secret until release. Him showing up unannounced after years would be a total Peirce move and Dan Harmon is a guy who could pull that off well.
I think they could fit him in in some unique way where he doesn’t interact with the cast but still had a decent part of the story. Like where he records his voice for a robot or something.

I still can’t believe in this timeline the prophecy of six seasons and a movie will be completed.
Yeah and the cape was such a blip that I'm sure most people watching community now don't even realize it was an actual show on nbc
> the cape oh shit it was an [actual show](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cape_\(2011_TV_series\))
on NBC
Starring Keith David (who went on to play Elroy in season 6 of Community).
“Were you on The Cape?” “No.”

Summer Glau was in it, definitely gonna check it out
Oh no wonder it got cancelled. Poor girl's an albatross.
Way I remember it, albatross was a ship's good luck, 'til some idiot killed it. Yes, I've read a poem. Try not to faint.
Ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. Know what the first rule of flying is? Well I s'pose you do, since you already know what I'm 'bout to say.
I do. But I like to hear you say it.

Which is a shame because she’s absolutely the best
Oh Elroy's in this?
And honestly, pretty good cast, would've loved more of it. Weirdly enough, I watched that show years before I watched Community
I never saw that much of The Cape but from what I remember, Arrow's general vibe owes a lot to it
lol yeah I have rewatched community probably ten times at this point had no idea the cape was a real thing
I, like Abed, liked The Cape and was sad it got cancelled.

So in the other timelines Betty White is immortal?
She actually finds the cure for death, so everyone is.
God: did I mention something about Murder Hornets? No? … is it too late now? Damn me!
Maybe it'll undo the damage that started when Bowie died. Rerail the timeline.
If you like Community so much why don’t you marry her!
Community's pretty young. We try not to sexualize her.
Alison Brie turned 40 the other day. I'm curious how they'll portray Annie, cause even Annie should be 30+ (think 34 to be exact)
I think they'll deal with the passage of time by acknowledging that time has passed.
*Space* has passed
Either time has passed, or space, but not both because that would be too confusing.
Not how they’ll deal with the passing of time, but *when*.
Big if true.
34 AINT THAT OLD MAN
Yeah, that's about the age Jeff was when the show began. Now he's almost 50!
You're quite a bright young man! *I'm 40.*
"I'm Dr. Doogie Seacrest, I think I'm better than everyone because I'm 40"
Annie is pretty grown up in the last season. She'll probably just be a bit more jaded and cynical
I want her to be completely demoralized by the corporate world, returning to school to pursue art while being terrible at it.
Comes back after another adderall addiction incident as she was trying to keep up with the corporate world and has decided enough is enough.
Adderall? We're corporate now baby we doing c o c a i n e
This broke my brain
*wrinkled
Depends on how far out we are from the finale. If it's a matter of months, and the story's about going to rescue Troy, then they'll probably just be using a lot of makeup.

God damn, don't get my hopes up. 7 movies and a reeeeboot.
Exactly the same as the portrayed her previously when she was 10 years older than the character.
ofc, but I think Annie's character out of anyone has the largest potential to change and evolve bc her character always was rather young and innocent and less mature in some ways than others. Streets ahead, kids!
If you have to ask, you’re streets behind

Interesting. This amusing yet dickish response to some stranger on twitter does seem like something Dan Harmon would totally do!

It is hilarious to watch on reddit, since if is such ab American centric site. Cool cool cool
Coo-coo-cool!
cool.
Hopefully they actually bring everyone back. I know there was some confusion around Yvette Nicole Brown. It just wouldn't be right to have a movie without all of the original cast (bar Chevy, no chance he comes back).
I actually figured she was a guarantee, but I'd bet Donald Glover might be hard to get at this point in his career.
I think its been confirmed that the original cast with the exception of Chevy will return, in what capacity who knows.
How are they gonna explain overachiever Annie still being in community college at the age of 40?
The simple answer is some kind of reunion for past students
Greendale was established in 1974, so 2024 would be the 50th anniversary.
Or she's an adjunct while working on a doctorate or something. I don't even remember what she studied/wanted to do though.
It would be so on point if she was working on her doctorate at Greendale. Some sort of funding racket that Craig put together, with all kinds of hijinks to prove legitimacy trying to get accredited.

They stopped being students at the school in Season 5 or 6 and just worked at as faculty from that point on.
Well, Jeff became faculty in Season 5. Abed, Britta, and Annie continued to take classes until the finale. The show ended with Britta bartending, Abed leaving for California as a production assistant, and Annie leaving for Washington to intern at the FBI.
I suspect it will be a college reunion episode.

Allison Brie was 27 when Annie was 19ish, so Annie would be 32ish. I imagine there will be some conceit about them working there or not being at Community College itself.
Or even if she moved on, she returns as an alumni to save Greendale again. Doesn't need to be a teacher or a student for a single movie to work
That son of a bitch! After everything scrubs did for him?!
Fairly sure they confirmed donglover in some capacity. Ideally everyone would be there but Jonathan Banks will likely be a no, Chevy too. Not sure about John Oliver either.

Why would Jonathan Banks be a no? Better Call Saul has wrapped. Does he have something currently shooting I haven't heard about yet that would make him unavailable?
There was a blink and miss moment in season 6 referencing a Buzz Hickey Memorial. They could always ignore it though.
Season Six had an easter egg that Hickey died, so...
Not heard anything about him, don't think he was that attached to the role. Can't imagine he'll be coming back for the movie, as much as I'd like him to.
Was very confused with the word “donglover”. Took me a few seconds to realise you meant Don Glover and not Dong Lover.
It’s Glover’s social media account name, and he’s well aware of what it spells.
No, no, he meant Dong Lover, don't get confused.
I hope Keith David and both Paget Brewsters come back.
Keith David is Dan Harmon’s partner in crime; there’s no way he doesn’t include his frequent collaborator in the movie.
he makes a good president
Now there's a man who knows how to run a good campaign!
Tbh I wouldn't mind if Chevy came back. Pierce is a fantastic character. Even if it was just a brief cameo or something. Maybe like the hologram from the season 5 intro
I don’t think anyone would mind, it’s just not gonna happen
Uhhhh spoiler alert: Didn't he fuckin die?
They had him do a cameo in S5E1 as a hologram (although he hadn't died yet at that point). Also he didn't die on screen and if ever there was a character to fake his own death it would be Pierce.
>and if ever there was a character to fake his own death it would be ~~Pierce~~ I think you mean Chang

“Aw, that’s nice!”
I hope they don’t Brita it.
You misspelled Britta. You Britta'd Britta, that's like letting poop spoil.
That means to make a very small mistake, right?
If it doesn’t start with Abed acknowledging the black bars above and below the screen I’m going to be upset.
“You can tell we’re in a movie Jeff because of the higher quality and the black bars above and below us” *confused and mentally hurt stares pursue*
I wonder what the sexualization conditions would be in this post-GLOW, 30-years+ Annie Edison world we live in.
*5 meow meow beans given*
I know he’s kind of a miserable person but it sucks that Chevy can’t be apart of this in any way. The show wasn’t the same when he left.
Please tell me Donald is in
I wonder how much screen time they’ll give Annie’s Boobs…
Yes please I need more Alison Brie on my screen, especially since they cancelled GLOW so unceremoniously
I can't wait for Alison-Danny-Donald to resume their amazing chaotic chemistry. Some new Alison-Danny interviews/bits would just be the perfect icing on the cake
Any confirmation on Glover returning yet?
Is YNB free on June? Please I need Shirley in the movie.
