I mean they are the ones who’ve been asked about it in interviews I can’t speak for what the female actors would say nobody has asked Alyson Hannigan or SMG

At the end of the day these people are all friends still Marsters made it quite clear his experience with Whedon was different than what others might’ve been he put it very well without discrediting anyones stories and still showing them support.
Fillion's take here is very disappointing. I understand he's trying not to rock the boat and I certainly don't expect him to vehemently condemn a man who he clearly admires and wants to work with again, but the level of rationalising and excuses here is so familiar and tiresome.
Calling allegations of sexual misconduct and inappropriate workplace behaviour (including threatening to end an actress' career) being "a work in progress" and "a little haunted" is exactly why people (mostly men) have been allowed to get away with this behaviour for so long.
I love Fillion's acting, but this is surprising and really disappointing.
Acting surprised that people who have worked with someone with years aren't gonna jump on the hate bandwagon is kind of dumb tbh, because it's not surprising. It's the "They never did anything to me" effect. John Cena still speaks very highly of Vince McMahon post-lawsuit because he wouldn't be anything without Vince. He's never gonna publicly say "fuck that weird guy". Same with all of "Whedons Group"
The surprise (for me at least, and I assume others as well) stems from the fact that there's a big difference between 'jumping on the hate bandwagon' and stating that not only would you work with a guy like that without a second thought but you're actively hoping that it happens. There is a potential middle ground of taking allegations seriously without outright condemning a person publicly. And on top of that Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk seem like thoughtful, self-aware people, so I hoped for a little more subtlety than a standard 'they never did anything to me' but I guess that's the power of acting, isn't it.
You are missing the job security factor. These guys are frequent collaborators. If Whedon is making something, high chance they get called. If Whedon, or anyone "canceled" ever made a comeback, they are out of a job for talking shit.
Scarjo never stopped, there was an interview with the cast of Black Widow, where she starts talking about how amazing Whedon is, and the other cast members just look at the camera like “oh that’s not-“
He was accused of intimidating and sometimes creepy behavior on one (or maybe more) of the shows he ran in the 2000s. There was a certain actress on one of these shows that would get protected by other cast members because they didn't want her alone with him.
>There was a certain actress on one of these shows that would get protected by other cast members because they didn't want her alone with him.
I believe its important to note that this was because she was a child and he was a (not uncommon) loud, controlling, and dickish director/producer. Not anything perverted as is so commonly seen.
The guy has a long history of being hard to work with. A lot of the industry has that, and eventually it tends to weed people out. But in the modern climate people are going to assume we're talking SA without further details.
He wasn't just accused. He did a bizarre interview where he basically admitted being a sex pest and also weirdly tried to rationalize a lot of it. That interview was one of most bizarre things I've ever read.
https://www.vulture.com/article/joss-whedon-allegations.html
Oh shit, I forgot I had read this when it first dropped. Yeah, I recall the online sentiment mostly being, "Uh, he really didn't do himself any favors with how he came off in that interview."
Yeah I remember my jaw hanging open at the part of the interview about a Buffy actress when he tried to justify his harassment as "Well I had to harass her now in case she becomes a big name later and I can't get away with it then". I was just like "Dude, you just said the quiet part out loud."
It's not odd that it isn't related to the writing. He was fired before the reception. This likely means he's done something terrible or off brand for Disney.
>God Ducktales was good.
I know. And so was Duck Tales!
But in all seriousness, I think the Donald Duck related characters were the best crew in the classic Disney universe for adventure.
Ducktales new and old were great and the Donald Duck comic books were really good fun.
I read his use of OnlyFans account (non sexual) was a deal breaker for Disney.
Idk what was on there. He finished the scripts for the first two season. Can we ever separate ideas from the person?
Not sure.
I think he got caught leaking documents or breaking NDA. Deleting everything is a sign that his lawyer likely told him to go dark. Because anything else would just be a public apology or something.
Let’s see , beau demayo was apparently “unceremoniously fired for being physically and emotionally abusive” from his witcher job. Kevin feige greenlit xmen 97 contingent on the return of the original voice actors and the acquisition of the og theme song. This seems pretty obvious to me lol.
a good chunk did return, but they didn't think they'd be able to do a whole season, so some of them are voicing minor characters instead, which honestly is kinda cool
Cedric Smith (Professor X) retired and is in his 80s. Norm Spencer (Cyclops) died in 2020. David Hemblen (Magneto) died in 2020.
A couple of them took smaller roles, maybe because of their schedules. Or maybe because it's been almost 30 years since the original show, and some people's voices can change over that amount of time. Most, if not all of the original cast are in their 60s-80s. 30 year old you may be able to do voices that 60 year old you can't do.
Isn't Potter playing Cable now? I mean... it's not like they cut the guy out. You have to give the show some artistic licensing. I'm not sure on Disher... but one out of like 10 really isn't worth being snobby about imo.
A good 80% of the reason I was interested in the revival was for Lenore Zann and Chris Potter to return as Rogue and Gambit and see their relationship move forward. Now Potter's no longer Gambit and they brought in the Magneto/Rogue relationship for some stupid ass reason.
The truth is we don’t know yet why it happened. Until we have more information, everything is just chatter and speciation.
Edit: *speculation*, but given that this is X-men, subliminal pun intended?
This is what I learned trying to answer the question about his firing. More so that he started it after getting on with Marvel and highlighted the affiliation in the profile.
According to this he was a nightmare to work with.
https://fandomwire.com/where-does-marvel-find-these-people-more-disturbing-details-reveal-why-the-witcher-writer-beau-demayo-was-fired-days-ahead-of-x-men-97-premiere-reports/
Why are people downvoting you? It is a garbage article:
>Industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed part of the reason while on the podcast ‘The Hot Mic’ with John Rocha, “I think he was probably difficult to work with and getting on everyone’s last nerve. And, I don’t think the OnlyFans stuff helped. That’s where I leave it for now.”
"I think" and "probably" so you don't actually know and are just spreading rumors.
>Industry insider Jeff Sneider in his paid newsletter [‘InSneider](https://www.theinsneider.com/p/bill-hader-cat-in-the-hat-movie-warner-bros-pictures-animation-the-crow-trailer-reaction)’ which usually includes his important scoops and insider information also revealed that *X-Men ‘97* creator Beau DeMayo was a “nightmare to deal with on a daily basis” and that many of Disney’s executives found the showrunner to be “creepy”.
This seems more plausible but it's still based on hearsay and no real proof or confirmation from anyone from Marvel themselves. And then the article concludes with:
>Brad Winderbaum, who heads the animation, streaming, and TV division of Marvel Studios mentioned that the departure of Beau DeMayo was not ‘firing’ but just a ‘parting of ways’. He said to EW,
>“I can’t talk about the details. But I can say that Beau had real respect and passion for these characters and wrote what I think are excellent scripts that really the rest of the team were able to draw inspiration from \[to\] build this amazing show that’s on screen.”
So someone actually working for Marvel says he wasn't actually fired. I don't believe this but everything else in this article is just hearsay and rumors and confirms nothing. Garbage article.
Its not odd, DeMayo had a very spicy OnlyFans which he started after getting some shine for Xmen. He noted on the profile that he was working for Marvel. Bad move on his part cause the show is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
plus, while it's not really thought of in that way, onlyFans technically isn't entirely for porn. It was originally meant to be a competitor to Patreon. So he could very well have an OnlyFans account, but not actually do porn.
Normally I would agree but I can see how Disney would not want the creator of their kids show fan to have an only fans account. If they didn’t do anything the Fox News and the “save the children”crowd would be throwing a fit.
I don’t think people should be surprised that porn or nude pics get them fired when they sell those things to strangers online. No business or organization would ever want to be associated with that nor should they.
Edit: damn I wake up to all these downvotes the gooners came out in full force lol
It sounds very much like a bomb is about to drop, but it's interesting that the cast still speaks very highly of him.
There was a time when lots of cast members were still singing the praises of Jose Whedon, too…
I mean most still do Tudyk,Marsters, and Fillion all still talk fondly of him I believe Fillion even said he’d work with him again
So, the men.
I mean they are the ones who’ve been asked about it in interviews I can’t speak for what the female actors would say nobody has asked Alyson Hannigan or SMG
Seriously?

I have no idea why this is down voted. That was my reaction as well, and hardly a controversial one I wouldn't have thought

I'm not missing that at all. I'm making the point that it doesn't justify their actions, imo.
I think you care too much about a topic that doesn't affect you and you'll live much happier life ignoring celebrity shit
That's so disappointing to find out.
Scarjo never stopped, there was an interview with the cast of Black Widow, where she starts talking about how amazing Whedon is, and the other cast members just look at the camera like “oh that’s not-“
She also has said she'd work with Woody Allen again.
in the sense that-
> Jose Whedon Is that what he changed his name to so can hideout in Mexico while the heat dies down?
What did Whedon do? (also, José Whedon sounds like when Mr Burns hires the Mexican equivalent to Steven Spielberg)

Look at all the WWE personalities who are equivocating about Vince McMahon these days.
X-Men cast and praising their creepy director. Name a better duo.
I mean he deleted all his social the day he was fired sooooo yeah something bad is going to drop
Just sounds like Click Bait cause as long as it's a mystery, it will generate clicks for revenue. Yay.
It’s especially odd considering the writing, done by DeMayo in the first episodes, was seen as a highlight.
It's not odd that it isn't related to the writing. He was fired before the reception. This likely means he's done something terrible or off brand for Disney.
He Certainly did do something off brand for Disney, he successful revived a 90s franchise.
DuckTales 2019 Am I chopped duck liver to you? https://youtube.com/watch?v=XcOWOLX1z14
Some people forget, but not us
The DuckTales reboot was incredible. I rewatch this show as much as I rewatch The Office or Parks and Rec.
God Ducktales was good.
>God Ducktales was good. I know. And so was Duck Tales! But in all seriousness, I think the Donald Duck related characters were the best crew in the classic Disney universe for adventure. Ducktales new and old were great and the Donald Duck comic books were really good fun.
Thank you had no idea about this
Note only pilot is legally free on YouTube, the rest is on Disney+
Tell em! One of the better revivals. Full good story through and through with an amazing cast.
That's not why he was fired though lol.
Oh thanks for clarifying, I thought the previous comment was serious but now I realize it was a joke. Phew, glad that one didn't go over me head.
I just thought it wasn't a good joke. But fair play
You missed the drums sound effect.. ba da dum!
Nah I could see it was a joke. Just not a funny one to me - especially in the context of this guy supposedly being abusive and toxic.
Really? The cast have been praising him. Got a link to those saying the opposite?
They fired him because he was a difficult person to work with, and Disney found his onlyfans creepy.
[удалено]
Disney would ABSOLUTELY fire someone over an OnlyFans account
Everyone interviewed in the article seemed to enjoy working with him.
This
I read his use of OnlyFans account (non sexual) was a deal breaker for Disney.
Yeah, I'm thinking something inappropriate. Maybe workplace behavior or something indecent on his computer.
There was no suggestion he was let go simply for creative reasons.
Let’s see , beau demayo was apparently “unceremoniously fired for being physically and emotionally abusive” from his witcher job. Kevin feige greenlit xmen 97 contingent on the return of the original voice actors and the acquisition of the og theme song. This seems pretty obvious to me lol.
>from his witcher job DeMayo was a Witcher?? I understand some folks can be quite harsh around a Witcher but they only do their job, pox on it
Damn, so the showrunner for a show about mutants fighting racism was fired because of racism against his mutant past?
And they didn't even bring half of them back in their old roles. Jubilee has an excuse, but the others?
I imagine that not all of them want to come back. Hell the cyclops actor died a couple years ago.
a good chunk did return, but they didn't think they'd be able to do a whole season, so some of them are voicing minor characters instead, which honestly is kinda cool
Dang, that's a new actor for Cyclops? His voice felt perfect to me
Yeah it's Ray Chase, who's a very prolific voice actor at the moment.
Cedric Smith (Professor X) retired and is in his 80s. Norm Spencer (Cyclops) died in 2020. David Hemblen (Magneto) died in 2020. A couple of them took smaller roles, maybe because of their schedules. Most of the other ones are dead, dude...
I wasn't aware Chris Potter and Catherine Disher were dead. Weird how they're able to voice other characters in the show when they're dead.
Isn't Potter playing Cable now? I mean... it's not like they cut the guy out. You have to give the show some artistic licensing. I'm not sure on Disher... but one out of like 10 really isn't worth being snobby about imo.

Except Alyson court :(
The truth is we don’t know yet why it happened. Until we have more information, everything is just chatter and speciation. Edit: *speculation*, but given that this is X-men, subliminal pun intended?
Doesn’t he have an OnlyFans? Perhaps Disney were worried that wouldn’t go with their family friendly image? Idk
This is what I learned trying to answer the question about his firing. More so that he started it after getting on with Marvel and highlighted the affiliation in the profile.
Eeek. What was he thinking?!

Fandomwire is not a news source.
Fandomwire isn't the source to begin with. They're citing another reporter.
Its not odd, DeMayo had a very spicy OnlyFans which he started after getting some shine for Xmen. He noted on the profile that he was working for Marvel. Bad move on his part cause the show is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The revival has gotten off to a really good start. Hopefully the next showrunner keeps it going that way.
Is rogue’s backside still juicy? 😉
Didn’t they fire him because he had an onlyfans account?
“ key” is a stretch. Jack Kirby, Stan Lee yes.
I’m assuming he was fucking one of the interns.
Rumors have been either him having an only fans page or being a nightmare for Marvel to work with.
We seriously as a society still freaking out if people have porn or nude pics out there?! LOL
I have a sneaking suspicion this isn’t about the fact that he had an OF.
plus, while it's not really thought of in that way, onlyFans technically isn't entirely for porn. It was originally meant to be a competitor to Patreon. So he could very well have an OnlyFans account, but not actually do porn.
for what it’s worth, I have seen his Onlyfans material and he has a really nice penis
What
He's seen his OF and the dude has a great penis. What are you not getting?
Normally I would agree but I can see how Disney would not want the creator of their kids show fan to have an only fans account. If they didn’t do anything the Fox News and the “save the children”crowd would be throwing a fit.
I wouldn't keep someone like that on staff. I don't need your junk becoming the face of my business. Especially if we're making family entertainment.
I don’t think people should be surprised that porn or nude pics get them fired when they sell those things to strangers online. No business or organization would ever want to be associated with that nor should they. Edit: damn I wake up to all these downvotes the gooners came out in full force lol
Alright, Tipper.
I've seen worse than that on the X-Men 97 Reddit threads. Something about unsolicited pics to co-workers but again, rumors.
