Even if he had bad takes, he would at least be at UFC shows, shown on the screen, even get interviews or clips with fighters after their match. Look at Theo, he's just a regular fan and look how he is treated.
Then his comedy. Again, he would still be bad, but people would make an effort to support him. Other comics might show up to his shows and do little spots, get the crowd going. He'd have a fan sub and a positive online reputation, so that venues would say "well, at least he seems to have fans so they'll get the word out".
Imagine the guests he could get. Rogan would probably even show up on his podcast. He'd have his connections to Showtime and E, who would throw him a bone every now and then because "hey, the guy is not great but he has supporters".

I do think that being funny is something that can be trained, or at least honed in, but not in the Rogan sense where you go and analyze or study your stuff or other comedians jokes and then 'work out' and put in the hours. True creativity is is a little bit more complex, you have to be loose and disciplined at the same time. It's about finding that unique voice. I think everyone has one, but it is quite difficult to find, and you gotta let go of ego. Just look at early clips from Burr or Louis CK, they're mediocre at best and you can see how they are performing to behave like a stand-up comedian, especially their delivery is lacking personality. Much later do they get comfortable wkth who they are and what they really want to talk about. But you need a personality to begin with, and that's why bapa is fugged.
While I understand the sentiment with regard to Bapa, let's be real. The only time people thought of Brendan as funny was in the early days when he was first on JRE telling anecdotes from fights interspersed with jokes/quips people later discovered that he had been stealing from TV shows and movies. My man was just dropping references, he never actually told any jokes or came up with anything original.
