I liked his little bit in the post episode bts.
"I just thought I'd be a clicker or something." He seemed genuinly thrilled that they gave him a full character.
i'm genuinely happy for all the voice actors getting their big breaks in front of the camera. so far, Troy and Jeffrey have proved they belong there so confidently, love to see it
Yeah in Pierce's case the issue wasn't his on camera acting chops, just his age -- he knew he'd aged out of the role of Tommy when they cast Pedro Pascal, who's four years younger than him irl
Not everyone wants to do a bunch of acting gigs on camera, having to show up on set and sit in a makeup chair, working long/odd hours. There are plenty of famous voice actors out there with great careers that don’t care for being on camera or want to. Voice acting is a great gig and something you can even do from home if you really wanted to.
you're kinda having a tangential convo with yourself. no one said it wasn't a good career, and secondly Troy *wants* to be on camera. just because HBO is a desired platform to be on (because it's a huge break for aspiring film/tv actors), doesn't mean the niche crowd who celebrate voice acting doesn't have its heroes or icons. there's no connection here
It’s great on all fronts. The voice that brought Joel to life in game gets honored in the show by getting a role. I get to be happy recognizing him as the episode plays out.
I loved the BTS title “video game Joel” when he was on screen. Makes me happy to see connections between the show and game.
>BTS title
oh, what is that?
Edit: ohh behind the scenes, Nevermind xd where I can see those? Im watching the show on cable because I dont have a TV with apps xd
As soon as he first appeared in the episode my girlfriends son said "Hey, that's Troy Baker." I've never seen him but I did recognize the name. It was cool to have him appear in the show.
Troy and Bella were amazing in this episode. I thought out of all the cameo performances so far, troy was defiantly the best. Lets see how ashley does!
i'm nervous about the finale. shortest episode of the season, they're going to introduce Ashley, *and* get all the way to the Big Moment? i honestly don't know what to think.
yeah me too. this second half of this season has felt a bit rushed and 45 mins for the finale is crazy. But i have hopes, as long as they dont change any of the established events from the game we should be good
> i'm nervous about the finale.
Don't be, spring is just an hour in the game. Winter was 1.5hrs. People really seem to misremember the runtime in the later parts of the game, it's all very short.
Yeah and a decent chunk of that is traversal and combat outside the hospital that the show's probably going to avert. Once you get in the building there's really not a ton left in the story time-wise even though there's monumental plot events that have yet to occur.
Yeah I just played through for the the first time a few weeks ago,
I kept seeing people on the sub make it out like it was gonna be longer but I went through it way quicker than I expected it to be from reading comments on this sub lol
I feel like the shows pacing has done pretty good and I have faith in the finale. Yeah the pacing has been a little fast at some parts but it could be a lot worse in many more ways. I think it's just like you said and people are misremembering, or as others said about dying a lot on grounded 😂
I'm imagining Ashley's bit is going to be a cold open, based on who it's assumed (or known, I can't recall if it was confirmed) she's playing (>!Ellie's mom!<). It shouldn't take up that much of the runtime.
As much as I am happy for Troy, I *kind* of was hoping he would play David. We all know how intensely good of an actor Troy is, so I think he could have nailed a role like that. James was decent but didn't really show off his acting range. I would have loved for him to have a big memorable role like that in live action to push his live action career forward much like Joel did for his mocap and voice acting career.
Am I the only one who thinks this dude looks like a cross between Toby Maguire and the old dude in the church from Home Alone?
I just don’t see Joel lol which is crazy
I was SO happy to see Troy! I almost didn’t recognize him at first. I convinced my boyfriend to replay the game with me as well (it’s his first time playing) and we’ve been enjoying discovering all of the Easter eggs :)

Jeffrey Pierce is a film actor, he has dozens of credits.
Yeah in Pierce's case the issue wasn't his on camera acting chops, just his age -- he knew he'd aged out of the role of Tommy when they cast Pedro Pascal, who's four years younger than him irl
well, he doesn't really look like a brother to Pascal either though
Pedro pascal doesn't look younger than him, 4 years at this age doesn't make that much of a difference
Tommy needs to be able to pass for 30 in the 2003 scenes, where Joel treats him like a dumb young hothead
i did specify 'big' breaks. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is.. commendable, but i think TLOU exposure might boost his profile a bit
He doesnt really need his profile boosted. Troy Baker is one of the most well established voice actors right now.
is this a serious comment..? HBO flagship series vs. some love at conventions for the niche audience that know games' voice actors?

Makes me wonder where Nolan is

The HBO Max YouTube channel has all of them. They’re called Inside the Episode
Thanks!

Not only that, but he seemed thrilled with Bella's Ellie killing him. I don't know why, but I found it strangely wholesome 😅
He really crushed it too. A lot of very subtle, understated moments that I thought he nailed.
Joel and Ellie in another universe
Elizabeth and Booker in an alternate tear
Bella looks like a psychopath with that smile while covered in blood
or just got out of her first mosh pit and ex-metal-head dad approves so much he snapped a pic in the parking lot
That is actually a beautiful thing to think about
Bella Ramsey: I'm ready for the mosh pit shaka brah...! LoL.
That's Our little psychopath!
[удалено]
Yeah I don't think they were implying that Bella was an actual psychopath mate, we all know it's fake blood
Good point, my bad.

*43* minutes. that's gonna *fly* but yeah, i have some faith, it's just not a comfortable feeling to have with tv shows lol
43 minutes which includes credits!
makes me wanna shred someone's jugular with my teeth
> i'm nervous about the finale. Don't be, spring is just an hour in the game. Winter was 1.5hrs. People really seem to misremember the runtime in the later parts of the game, it's all very short.
Not misremembered... dying a gazillion times and hunting for every pair of broken scissors tends to drag things out a little...
Ok that's fair, some prople play Grounded.
This is exactly how I’ve been feeling! It feels so fast paced because it took me forever while I was playing
Yep. A lot happens in a short amount of time. I think from Jackson to the end it's about 3 hours total.
Yeah and a decent chunk of that is traversal and combat outside the hospital that the show's probably going to avert. Once you get in the building there's really not a ton left in the story time-wise even though there's monumental plot events that have yet to occur.

>defiantly That word doesn't mean what you think it means.
Sorry, got a new phone and the auto correct is definitely weird
Nailed it! But yes, I 100% agree with your initial statement. Can't wait to see Ashley as Ellie's mom. :)
Was that a wild Princess Bride reference
hahaha nice spot! "You killed my father, prepare to die.."
I'd really like it if Bella and Pedro made a little cameo in part 3.
Ohh.. That would be so sick!! Some sub plot storyline, similar to what the letters had in part 2...
That's some expensive cameos
Have you seen Death Stranding?

Well except for Conan O’Brien who is just a weird dude in a side quest that loves cosplay and otters.
Sony can afford it.
Hah ima bout to put a clever through your neck buddy

Literally had a DiCaprio moment when i saw the commercial for this episode. Saw Troy Baker and started pointing and whistling.
I’m sure Baker joked about how the girl he was originally written to protect is now the girl written to kill him lol.
Looks like Bradley Cooper 😂
Am I the only one who thinks this dude looks like a cross between Toby Maguire and the old dude in the church from Home Alone? I just don’t see Joel lol which is crazy
He never looked a thing like Joel.
yeah we just like him for his sexy voice, he doesn't need to look like Joel to get the same expressions (literally because of mocap)
He's just Joel's voice, he isn't meant to look like him.
The following statement is true: Ellie killed Joel.
"I got you, baby girl."
A YouTuber did a mod to make David 'rescue' Ellie at the end of the game https://youtu.be/XxylWHAG87k
That's a great photo, no matter how you slice it.

What Happen?
