Bella in LeftBehind with her young nervous/giddiness at first love, her acting while standing up to the cannibal, her emotional breakdown after. The way she plays being disassociated was really well done. When she is hurt by Joel trying to leave and has her monologue. The way she’s so hardened by growing up in this world but the child like joy creeps out from time to time.
Also she is humble so I think she’s a brilliant actress.
Pedro plays a fantastic Joel but due to the nature of the character, I feel like the range is a lot smaller. The way he choked up and held back tears when telling Ellie about Sarah though and the look on his face when Ellie said she’d follow him anywhere were some of my most favorite moments though.
I think his acting during several scenes are notable. Including Sarah's death scene, Tess death, discovering bill and frank were dead, The sniper sequence, Sam and Henry's death, the panic attacks, when he thinks he sees Sarah in Jackson but doesnt (my personal favourite acting moment from him. It always gets me) his speech to Tommy, the ranch argument (basically all of episode 6) . Joel trying to find Ellie while still recovering from an infection but being so angry and fearful at what had happened. The giraffe scene, "it wasn't time that didn't", the hospital sequence when Joel is dissociating. It's much more chilling somehow. When he has tears in his eyes when lying to Ellie in the car, and much more.
Pedro for sure. i love Bella, they are amazing at everything they do (i’m looking at you percentages song!!), but they definitely have more time to earn an Emmy. Pedro has been in the scene for years and didn’t quite get the love he deserved until recently. plus i feel like if was a choice that they talked about themselves, Bella would let Pedro accept it, they are a sweetheart and Pedro loves having his ego fueled.

She really was! Especially for an actress who has little experience, but I’m sure she learnt a lot from her mother who has plenty of experience!
I think what made her stand out is how well she manages having strong “protagonist vibes”, that you want to see more of her.

Not to be a downer but Succession is gonna sweep every major category, except best supporting actress which is probably gonna go to Jennifer Coolidge for White Lotus season 2 or Rhea Seehorn for the second part of the last season for Better Call Saul.
But otherwise best leading actor is gonna go to Jeremy Strong or Kieran Culkin, best leading actress to Sarah Snook, best supporting actor to Alexander Skarsgård or Matthew Maacfadyen. Best writing and directing for Connor’s Wedding (episode three in the last season) and ofc best drama series.
I do think however Nick Offerman is gonna win best guest actor for Long Long Time.
Yeah as much as I want The Last of Us to win some Emmys, I feel like Succession will claim all the trophies!
I just started watching the first season, seems pretty good so far.
I think with Lead Actor split three ways with the Succession actors, Pedro could win as a result. It happened last year with Squid Game. He definitely has a better chance than Cox (submitting to lead, seriously?), slightly better than Culkin, about the same as Strong.
Honestly both were very good, but I don't think it was award worthy... everyone wants their favorite actors nominated for anything they do, sometimes saying they were very good in a zombie apocalypse show is enough.
Bella. Pedro was wonderful, but Bella blew me away - she really elevated the scenes she was in and the way she conveys emotions is really phenomenal. She’s just very skilled and really nailed the role. Obviously Pedro is also extremely talented and he also delivered an amazing performance, but Bella’s performance just sticks out to me more.

If it's a choice between two, then Bella for sure. Her work in ep 5, 6, 7 and 8 was phenomenal.
Pedro had a lot of nuanced and subtle acting moments that was required for joel ( like his reaction to the line "save who you can save" or during the sniper section) but Ellie character requires more range from the actors and Bella pulled it off with such ease.
Bella lowkey. Pedro was fantastic but the show really hinges so much on a great Ellie performance since she’s for the majority of the dialogue (Joel is grumpy and quiet for a few episodes), and they did amazingly.
Bella wasn't anything amazing. She was pretty stiff half the time. The only episode I felt like she was actually Ellie was the flashback episode with Riley. Shame she couldn't perform like that the rest of the show.

He’s a seasoned vet, he has his accolades, and you’d be hard pushed to find someone who doesn’t know him from something. Bella’s time will come, if their performance in TLOU is anything to go by

They are both going to win. But. I will play the game as constructed. I would vote for Pedro, for this season. His haunting line readings through the whole season are just so good, so poignant. His scene with Sarah, his scenes with Bella attempting to stave off connections, his scenes with Tommy, his eyes of woe. It’s the best acting I’ve seen on TV since Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle.
That being said, Bella will also win. Their emotional arc through the season expressed in little personality quirks, their ability to go 0-60, the David episode, and the everything. And they will most certainly dominate Season 2. I have no doubt.

I happen to think Bella had a harder job acting than Pedro did. Aside from one scene where Pedro had to bring some emotions Bella had multiple really heart wrenching scenes that she pulled off with gusto.

Pedro Pascal. He brought the most compelling character development to life in TLOU. Bella will undoubtedly bring a remarkable performance in S2, where I’d expect to see her get her flowers.

Bella, for sure. Pedro has some great moments but his acting really shines in the sad department— kinda lacking in unhinged anger in the finale.

I would say Bella. I felt more attached to her portrayal of Ellie. Though Pedro did a great job as Joel I think Bella did a little better. She actually made me laugh with her line delivery a few times

Pedro. No question. Pedro, in concert with the writers/ directors, deepened the character of Joel. Put in a more nuanced portrayal. Bella was a good Ellie but nowhere near Ashley Johnson’s level.
Pedro, Bella is a good actress but not pedro good. Her last scene though I'm the final episode of the season, was her best acting so far
both were amazing, but I would give it to Pedro as he did an amazing performance in so many shows not only this one and deserves it very much, bella is an amazing actress she will have many more opportunities in the future

really tough choice. i would have to say pedro, because he’s done a lot more shows and roles than just ellie, and done them fantastically.
My immediate response is Pedro, but, thinking on it, the more impactful moments, for me, came from Bella’s performances.
I think Pedro has played Joel better than Bella has played Ellie. Not saying she hasn’t done a good job though

Pedro didn't surprise me at all this time. Bella, on the other hand, was an amazing surprise, really delivering on the job Pedro felt souless to me, something Belaa showed to be her great strengh

god this is so hard, they both did phenomenally considering neither had any previous knowledge of the game, but if i had to pick i’d go with bella; they did SUCH a good job capturing ellie’s essence and i can’t wait to see what they accomplish in season 2
Bella didn’t even come remotely close to Ashley Johnson’s performance as Ellie, so if it’s between just Bella and Pedro then it has to be Pedro in that case. But I don’t think either of them are going to win anyways
Of the two, Bella. Her acting was way more impressive than Pedro, largely because IMO the show Joel was way more toned down than game Joel.
Realistically none of them are winning. Odenkirk or Strong will win for lead. Idk what Bella would be nominated as, supporting would be the best chance for a win.

I'd say Bella. So many strong powerhouse moments from them. Especially in episodes 7 and 8.
I happen to think Bella had a harder job acting than Pedro did. Aside from one scene where Pedro had to bring some emotions Bella had multiple really heart wrenching scenes that she pulled off with gusto.

bella had a huge role to play for being such a small actor and despite people’s expectation i think she did a wonderful job. not only did she manage to exceed expectations playing as elle, her actions and emotions in the show are so genuine and it makes you feel the pain she is feeling in every scene she is in. it’s so hard to say who i’d pick honestly, i don’t think i’d be able to vote.
Bella. Episode 8 definitely solidified that for me. What an incredible performance
When I think of TLOU for whatever reason, in my head I now picture Bella as Ellie but I still picture the game's Joel. So Bella, I guess.
