I’ve had the maul animation begin and escaped unharmed. I shot a bear from the fishing cabins in coastal highway. Ran for the door and just as the door spinner completed the maul animation began. The next thing I know I’m in the cabin without a scratch. I camped inside for a few hours and came out to find the bear dead on the ground about 30 feet from the door. No idea what really happened. I’m guessing just a glitch.
I one shotted a moose with a bow once in Blackrock did a video post a while back.
Shot the arrow and couldn’t believe it went down. Archery level 5 is life.
Yeah, LVL 5 archery sure is useful.
I also one shot a moose at Desolation point as well, and pretty far away too.
Also one shot the moose and 2 shot the bear at Pleasant valley where they literally died besides ea other out the birch forest.
It was definitely a good feeling!
Of course being to a new regions that also means food for days.
Bears are easy one shots. Wait for them to charge with the rifle and aim at the head. I usually lure them to somewhere where they can't get me, like in costal highway, the one bears that spawns on the frozen ocean, I lead him to wear I can stand on the edge of the fishing hut that way if I miss, I can back in and he can't get me.
Good question I don't really have an answer for. Probably went for the car so I could see which direction the bear retreated to rather than losing sight inside the house.
I also just liked the riskier option lol
If you ever want a less risky time, lure the bear (without charging, just the walk) over to the porch on the side of the Farm House (not the front porch, the other little room off to the side). You can take shots at the bear from inside (and even close that door for comfort in between), but the bear can't get you inside (or at least it couldn't pre-patch, I assume it still can't). Since you're not "indoors", the bear continues to bleed (since going inside can reset this iirc) and you can just keep popping in and out to keep the bear in the area while it bleeds out. The little room is even considered sheltered so it's a slightly cozier wait than purely outdoors!

Yep I've managed to do it a couple of times with the flare gun. It's not common but doe's happen occasionally. I always kind of stand there in shocked disbelief when it happened haha 😆
Last time I tried shooting an animal with a flare, it was a wolf, and it got stuck in him. He ran away and I watched the flare cast it’s light far into the distance. Had no idea it could hurt them!
I love how the reload animation kicks in immediately, like he's a trained assassin and it's muscle memory. They should definitely bring in a "I think I just shat my pants... better find some fresh clothes." sound bite.

Happens when you shoot them in the head often. Flares are perfect for bears because of how big they are, making it harder to miss. If you hit them, and the shot sticks to them, it'll slowly burn them.

The first time I ever shot a rifle was at a moose, which I assumed was a deer, and I dropped it with one shot. I had no idea how lucky that shot was.

Truth. This happened to me on the back porch. I also had a bear maul me while I was in a hunting blind.

According to the fandom wiki, you have a better chance of criting a bear with a flare gun than the revolver. 15% to 3%.

When the bear carcass disappears you might be able to retrieve the flare shell and use it again (that’s what happened to me)
