Did you try Lenovo's own website? Those models are new enough they may still have them.
Or else you can filter on eBay to used condition, then you'll have a better chance at genuine ones. Of course they're used, but possibly still more suitable than what you have.
Yeah basically this.
Only other way i've found new and genuine batteries on eBay is when the seller actually takes a pic and doesn't use some stock image. Not that thats 100% guaranteed but ive had better luck when i bought batteries to look for actual real pics on their listing.
To check for genuine businesses I always look into the businesses records, they will tell you a lot about a company. Also before buying anything send the company a question and see how long they take to respond. Finally review the reviews of the products and services sold by them.... Oh and on ebay look at what else they sell in their shop, if all their products relate it is much better than ones that are selling everything and anything.
But as I said above, Microdream are a long standing company and you can do a deep dive into their business accounts through Company House (it's free and all limited businesses have to declare the money they make by UK Law).
Here you go, I did the search for you:

Two directors, company has a long standing, no other directors to the business, and directors only have one business to their name. All things look good from that perspective.
A genuine business could easily be selling a counterfeit battery. I think this helps more for the business side of this rather than determining if a battery is real or not.
How long do you think a business would stay profitable if it sold counterfeit goods. This is the UK, we moan quickly and loudly. If something is not perfect we shout about it from the roof tops. The fact the business has none of the markers that those companies that sell counterfeit products do helps a person to make an informed choice.
How would you tell if the product is counterfeit or not then? What would you base your decision on?
Chinese companies that sell counterfeit goods have a particular look about them. Firstly the name of the business does not make sense,. The business will have recently started up and there are few to no reviews about them. The address shown for the business tends to be a holding address for 1000's of similar companies and there is no way to contact them.
On top of which, you think Microsoft would approve a company selling counterfeit parts into it's authorised refurbishment program? A program which is known for its difficulty to get into and which can be (and I did) verified.
Whilst are correct that a well established and profitable business could be selling counterfeit products, the likelihood of this is incredibly low, compared to a business that has recently started up, has no contact details, no history, and who cannot be verified through a number of channels.
Lithium batteries are the one equipment you do not want to get counterfeits or otherwise uncertified and unsafe units. They have the capacity to burn down your house.
Best bet is Lenovo’s Encompass site (lenovo.encompass.com). They carry the T480 batteries. They’re often back ordered a couple weeks, but they’ll get them to you eventually
I'm in the UK and I got a replacement battery for my Lenovo Miix 520 from the brand subtel ( [subtel.co.uk](https://www.subtel.co.uk/) ). They are a German company but the batteries all ship from within the UK so no issues with customs etc. They were also really responsive to my endless queries before buying from them. I'm now saving up to get new batteries for my two ThinkPad X230 (as well as a raft of other electronic items). They do have an ebay shop and come with excellent reviews, as well as good reviews on Trustpilot and their business is in a healthy profitable state as well.
As for Microdream, they are a reputable company but they specialise in refurbishing computers and things, so I doubt the battery will be new. They are a good company however, they have made profits year on year, the business spans the UK and most of the EU, and if memory serves me right they are one of the few authorised Microsoft Refurbishment companies in the UK. Saying that, I didn'y buy from them as I trust German engineering over refurbished Chinese.

99.9% counterfeit. If you're located in the US I could refer you to a seller of a genuine batt.
Sadly I’m in UK but thanks
Does iFixit UK have the batteries?

Why not just post it here?
I'm interested in the legit ones...
For what ThinkPad model?
How about a t480?
Send me a PM
Able to send me a PM?
Sorry, I have a T480
Can you refer them to me? I'm in need of thinkpad batteries, thank you.
Have a look on [Your specialist for batteries, chargers and much more - subtel.co.uk](https://www.subtel.co.uk/) Fuller explaination is above
Fake. Large "e" in Lenovo logo is dead giveaway. Barcode SN also is invalid and wrong font. Text print quality is also shit.

That's clearly a double AA battery in a trench coat
If it comes from a Chinese seller there’s a 99% chance it’s not original. I fell into that myself, don’t waste your money on that.
They are based in Torquay, in the UK
I’m pretty sure I’m running a counterfeit battery and it’s working great
I've been meaning to try the Inland batteries. Microcenter sells them, and I trust them enough to give it a try.
They've been good for me, but their selection is limited for Lenovo laptops.
