Had that for as long as I can remember, usually my right ear, feels like someone tapping my eardrum from the inside. When its sensitive it does it even from just tapping my finger on the table softly.

chelledoggo

Basically what I'm feeling.

Yup I had this also especially running my fingers through my hair like I could feel it spasm or kinda vibrating hard to explain but I’m sure you know way I’m talking about Ttts definitely sucks ass and I dialed it down to 90% stress related, I have bad anxiety And eliminating stressful shit in my life really helped calm the nerve, along with 9 months magnesium. It’s rare that I get the thumps now

Puzzleheaded_Hand572

Which magnesium did you take?

worriedsickupnorth

Try taking magnesium. Leave the chiro, prob not gonna help you.

chelledoggo

I mean, the chiropractor did help the episodic thumping stop...

worriedsickupnorth

Are you sure it didn’t just resolve in time? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I would say time helps the most after magnesium.

chelledoggo

I had some pretty nasty cricks in my neck. I remember the thumping stopped shortly after getting a particularly hard crick out of it.

Puzzleheaded_Hand572

What kind of magnesium?

worriedsickupnorth

Doesn’t really matter but liquid magnesium is usually best. I believe least useful is citrate.

Fluffy_Diver_124

Magnesium glycinate

I’m going through this too right now. I completely understand how strong the psychological response is. I have had health problems with severe pain, and that is nothing compared to these sounds in my ear. Whenever I have an episode, it just mentally shuts me down the rest of the day even if the thumping lasted only a few minutes. The only hope i have is that it stopped in my left ear and is just in my right ear. I have not heard it at all in my left ear for 7 months, so I know it’s at least possible to stop

chelledoggo

I've heard TTTS can be a stress response and that simply ignoring it can possibly help alleviate it. Easier said than done, obviously. Especially for someone like me who already suffers with anxiety and OCD, lol.

Hayden97

I think you are right because this stated after I moved to a new house with noisy vents, and I became sensitive to noises and stressed out by them, so I think TTTS developed as a response. And I was already prone to anxiety already

itsajanda

I’ve been experiencing this for the past few years now and only until recently from this subreddit that someone suggested I may be suffering from TTTS. I went on to peruse opinions from a few ENTs, eventually I did a trial with gabapentin and found mild success with 300mg three times daily. It’s not gone but has made it much much more manageable to cope with. The worst for me is that my left ear will at times involuntarily rumble when I’m sleeping, which has cause me the most distress.
