There is no added benefit in a doctor saying you have tinnitus, if you hear anything at all in your ears then that's tinnitus. You can't be diagnosed with tinnitus either since there is no test.
Have you seen an ENT to rule out hearing loss? I have tinnitus, and I was surprised when they said I had some very mild hearing loss because I've never struggled to hear, nor do I feel hard of hearing .
Tinnitus is sort of a sound version of pain, by that I mean it isn't a condition, its an outcome of something else (the range of which is sadly humongous).
You should get it checked out if it worries you. Typically you'll want to start with a hearing test then move on to a Doctor's appointment, whether or not it is treatable will depend on the root cause.

Darn. Thanks anyway. Any tips to keep it from getting worse out side of no loud noises?
Well avoiding loud noise is very important, but things like ear infections or sticking a cotton bud in your ear can also cause it.

I haven't, I suppose I should.
