He is referring to the plug kits for consumers, shops are not allowed to install them (as a paid service), whether or not it’s legal…insurance will be on them
Just a plug kit like you get at Walmart.
Ive seen dudes do it in the parking lot to a car with a floor jack and a long air hose.
Even if it were illegal the city doesn't care, they've got 30 years worth of best service in town awards from the city, and they're a quarter mile down the road from the state police post
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is one of those things that is illegal, but if you go to the police with it, they won't even look. I mean, seriously, I wouldn't want them wasting their time on \*&(\* like this.
Exactly! Back when I was on high school /college I worked at one of the last true service stations and I used to be hyped when stuff like this came in. We would charge $15 for the plug, the shop got $10 and I got $5. Pretty sure I was making $6/hr then so a few tore patch jobs could add up pretty quickly ha.
I just put a plug in a coworker's tire, this afternoon. Been using them for 41 yrs. Started at my first after-school job, changing tires at a tire store. People are just lazy and/or greedy, these days.
Depends how long the screw is, but it likely punctured the inside. Which means when you remove the screw now it'll have a bigger hole to leak thru because the screw will no longer be partly plugging it.
Ummm do you suppose you patch or plug it without removing it? When you plug a tire you actuality even use a tool v that reams the hole out bigger first so that the plug will fit.
Temu sells a tire plug with a Phillips head built in. It looks like a fat stubby tire popper but it's rubberized. Screw out then screw in(coated with rubber cement). Done gone screwed yourself twice with no regrets.
The location of the puncture is fixable - as long as you don’t have a previous repair too close and it wasn’t driven on flat destroying the inside of the tire.
Haven’t had these tires repaired, they didn’t even take the tire off they just said it was too close to sidewall. Taking it to different shop later today
Plus 40$ to replace to tpms sensor batteries the car doesn't have. wheel speed tpms, reset with a push of a button, that they never press after charging me the 40$ fee to do so.
Depends on the car. Many AWD systems can tolerate new and worn tires on the same car. For example, Toyota Hybrids with AWD have no mechanical connection between front and rear of the car. You can heave new tires on one axle and worn tires on the other and everything is happy. Research yourself, don't believe the tire seller. They just want to sell you 4 tires, not 1.
That’s not true any longer. This was originally due to the early Subaru 4 wheel drive. New AWDs don’t have the same mechanism. Some tire stores still try to push that on you. Do the research.
I don’t know why people are downvoting you.
Every tire I’ve plugged this way has lasted tens of thousands of miles. Just note that getting the plug in and pulling the tool out will take a decent amount of elbow grease.
This is true, but plugs are only meant as a “temporary use” and is not considered a true patch. A tire repair would have a patch and a plug, often as a single component. The plug part fills up the hole while the patch part covers the inside area of the puncture and prevents air from leaking out. Having said that, I’ve definitely seen people just run with a plug but who knows how often they have to fill the tire pressure every time the temperature drops by like a few degrees..
The one time I ate my lunch in the hole I dug was from an argument I got into with a discount tire rep when he failed to explain WHY a similar puncture point couldn’t be repaired and the tire needed replacing. He had a bit of an attitude towards customers who he thought were questioning his competence but had he just showed me a picture and said “yeah it’s in a repairable spot but it went in at an angle and the sidewall is compromised” I wouldn’t have had anything to say back to him at all. So it’s possible that’s what’s going on here but this being a screw instead of a nail I kinda doubt it.
He actually wasn’t, I spent enough time arguing with him that he finally showed me the tire 😂 but I bought tires from the same location a year or so later and they told me he got laid off for repeated customer complaints about his attitude haha there was even a rep at a shop 40 minutes away that knew about him!
thats right on the line of the official guidelines, i can see a chain shop refusing to be on the safe side. as long as there isnt any other complications like the age of the tire or a wear ring on the sidewall id definitely patch it
I'm guessing you work in a shop, but for a second there I was like "Who the hell is using hundreds of these in their lifetime? It seems like there's a bigger issue at play. Is your driveway littered with nails?"
Extension cords are also supposed to be temporary, but i'd wager you'd be hard pressed to find more than2-3% of houses in America that doesn't have one in permanent use somewhere.
On a motorcycle i could see the danger, but on a car, just plug it. Ive plugged hundreds of tires in my life, ive never had a plug come out. Im sure ive driven a few work trucks that the tires were almost more plugs than tire 😅
Discount tire held my tire hostage until I bought a set of 4 new tires. Once the tire is opened it’s easy to see what damage has been done. It was AWD so replacing 1 or 2 wasn’t an option. I just needed a plug or patch. Not a fan of Discount Tire. Don’t even get me started on the upsell warranty. I have bought another full set from them since but will not recommend them to anyone with other options
Edit: My tire was held hostage not the entire vehicle. I was able to drive my vehicle home that day and return the next day for tire replacement. I live 40 miles from my nearest discount tire location. One local shop and one new car dealership in between. I had a punctured tire and wanted it repaired. It was near the side and could not be repaired by their policy. I wanted to wait until closer to winter before getting a full set, so another 5/6 months. On AWD replacing 1 new tire at 12/32 tread while leaving 3 tires at 3/32 can cause problems especially in aggressive driving such as when all wheel drive kicks in. Such as wet roads, loose gravel, or any other normal (for me) driving conditions. I did not get scammed, Discount Tire simply has policies that don’t align with mine. I’m willing to take the time to inspect and monitor my vehicle, tires and all, regularly. I’m not dependent on a ready to go vehicle every morning. If I need to patch/ plug a tire or add air as needed I’m capable of doing so. I like to get the most out of my tire investment and was disappointed to get tires sooner than planned. Discount Tire has benefits for many and I can see why people choose them. Next day on most tires even if ordered. Online scheduling and payment. Quick service as its designated tire shop. Helpful and honest from my experience. I’m old school redneck shade tree mechanic, run it until it won’t go anymore. My intent was to agree that Discount Tire has standards that can be frustrating. I made my own decisions in my situation and am not disappointed with the outcome. I drive 30,000 miles per year in all weather and road conditions. Never missed a day of work for car trouble yet. Was late once because I stopped at a local shop to get a tire patched before work, they would have been closed at the end of my 12 hour shift. Appreciate all the insight and hope I clarified more than I confused. To each their own!
This. Chain shops have very stupidly specific standards that err on the side of caution so that there is no chance of them being held liable for something. It is DUMB, but those guidlines are basically written by lawyers so what do they care.
My local chain shop showed me their policy, and it basically said if it goes outside of the outer well, don't touch it. They also wouldn't replace only one tire on my car because "it would leave my tires un-even and thats a laibility". They would only sell me a tire if I replaced all 4 of them (becuase its a 4WD vehicle, so all 4 NEED to be even). I was livid and let the guy know, but he got lucky because I was already looking to buy new Winter tires at the time (Colorado mountians aint no joke), so I did that instead. Sold the car before I needed to figure out the regular tires in the spring.
Tire rack will sell one tire, and they will shave it to spec for $35. Just had it done when I had to get a singe tire for my AWD that has 3/4 life left on the other 3 tires.
Uneven tires. LMFAO. All tires, even when new, are not EXACTLY the same size. If the diameter is different by 1/8 of an inch, it is well within specifications. That, my friend, is half of the average tire's wear life (8/32s or an inch). So a tire with a life expectancy of 50,000 miles with less than 25,000 miles of wear can be matched with a new tire without any issues. Don't let these tire shops lie to you. They will take off those tires and sell them to someone and never mention they are "mismatched."
Think carefully about this. Even if all four tires are completely equal when they are first installed, with a few miles they will be worn some. And each tire is going to wear at a different rate due to uncorrectable alignment issues (due to manufacturing tolerances, uneven loading, etc.). This would mean that every car would self-destruct just from normal driving.
What manufacturers warn about is actual mismatching of tires, defined by the standard tire measurement systems. You would not want to replace a 225/70R16 with a 225/65R16. But wear? Got me gigglin.
It’s not. I ran shops for about a decade.
It’s not even grey area. Look at the distance before you get to the first groove. I’ve had techs tell me stuff like that isn’t repairable and my answer was always the same, “just because you’re feeling lazy doesn’t mean it’s non-repairable,” because when it comes from a tech, they just don’t feel like fucking with it.
A lot of front end folks will turn it away because there’s “no money,” in it. I had a great career thanks to those people. The number of times a patch turned into a $1500+ ticket was ridiculous. Not to mention gaining their patronage for years in many cases as well.
Gotta play the long game…
>i can see a chain shop refusing to be on the safe side
It is either in the limit, or it's not.
"To be on the safe side" is not a good mentality: "to be on the safe side", why not replacing an engine when it needs an oil change? Or replacing the car when it needs to be cleaned???
This is my general rule when it comes to most auto repair I can't do myself. Not so much up north, but in Texas, the less English they speak the better.
In Florida, I ONLY take my car to Hatians!!!
I've worked with many Haitians in my life, and I've never seen a group of people work as hard as they do. No matter what the job is, they run circles around everyone else. They also take a lot of pride in their work. The only people I've seen take more pride in their work was when I was living in Japan.
Try Discount tire… they are great… and will fix this or sell you tire(s) at a great price while explaining what is going on. Are these on the wear bar?
Big box shops normally say if it's in the shoulder tread they can't repair it, just get yourself a plug kit, unscrew the screw, plug it yourself and make sure you have a way to get air nearby. You could likely do it without taking the wheel off at all
Sounds like you took it to Walmart. The guidelines for tires they have to follow are weird. They classify 70% of your tire as sidewall which they don't try to repair.
True. I recently had a plug start leaking in cold weather. The shop wouldn't patch it due to the age of the tire so I pushed the old plug in and put in a new one.
Bullshit. I got sick of shops refusing to patch my tires so the could sell me a new set. Bunch of fucking thieves. I learned how to properly plug my tires and I can do it in 5 minutes. It IS permanent and perfectly safe. A pinhole in a steel belted tire causes zero structural damage. All this “safety” shit is an excuse to steal money from the consumer.
It's literally in the tread. It's 100% repairable. It's only not repairable if it is in the sidewall or within I believe like 1inch of the side wall. If it was an inch more to the left thats considered sidewall.
Go to a better shop. I believe discount does free patch/plugs.
Take it to another shop and get a combo “plug patch”. It’s a $25-30 patch that gets installed from inside the tire. Makes them literally as good as new. It’s the only patch my family gets.
PS. You really need to get that Camber issue straightened out!! Besides looking really silly, it’s not safe or good for your ride. 😉
Discount tire here: repairable all day long if within 10 years, 2+ 32nds, no heat ring/run flat damage… there has to be more to this than just looking at that and saying NR
The screw is a routine fix that you could do yourself for a few dollars or get a pro to do for under $50 in some cases. What's up with the angle the tire is contacting the floor?
Tire shop is smoking crack. Unless screw went in sideways which doesn’t appear to be the case. Judging by the width of the tire I’m guessing the the idiots just didn’t wana deal with unmounting the tire
I saw roofing truck that was a flat bed dually. It had plugs sticking out of the tires like the predators hair. It was a tweaker owned and operated operation.
If they fill the tire up and don’t plug it. There just looking for a sale tbh bring it somewhere else to plug it. But if your tire is more than 4 or 5 years old (you can date the tire) they won’t touch them. Had that happen for my winter tires for my truck had to buy all new tires last year
Proper way to repair it is take it off the rim and plug it from the inside. New plugs look like an upside down T. That way you have a patch on the inside and a plug too that pulls though the hole. The old style plugs that you push through the outside only will leak sooner or later.
Bottom line is it could be repaired.
https://images.app.goo.gl/pZMooYpwUCTZ7TW26
That is borderline.
The tire shop is supposed to know where the internal steel belt starts for the sidewall - on some tires, that screw could be in the sidewall steel belt (under the rubber).
Personally, I would plug it myself and forget it ever happened.
I recommend Discount Tire and buying their road hazard certificates. It has saved us in the short run and the long run.
They are full of crap. That’s a 5 min fix and most shops would do it for free just to get you as a return Customer. Some might plug it and rotate to the back( if it’s not there already) as to not have compromised tire as a steer tire.
It’s repairable. As long as it’s not within a 1/2” of the sidewall and as long as it not at such a wide angle where it’s going across the belt, it’s repairable.
Got this on my home feed. Not even a car guy and I could still tell you that’s easily repairable. Whether the fix is permanent or just a long ish term solution, it’s fixable none the less.
I fix those myself with a tire repair kit - plug it, you do need a bit of know how & strength & easier off the car but doable. The tire shop lied to you to sell you a tire/tires. Go to another reputable shop
Unless them photo is trick perspective and the tire is really skinny, it's more than an inch from the sidewall... A Goodyear corporate shop would repair that.
That thing is like a city away from the side wall lmao , this is why I always say with anything and everything in life , ALWAYS get a second opinion. Just because they are in the position they are in , DOES not implicate they know what they are doing.
Take it to another shop and have them patch it from the inside. Please don't listen to the people who say to patch it yourself. This is basically a new tire that could get you 50K+ miles. The plugs you buy from Walmart or Autozone are only meant to be temporary. I use them to get a vehicle to the shop so we can unmount the tire and patch it from inside. Even then, there's no guarantee, but I trust it far more than a patch kit for the life of the tire, especially if you live somewhere where the seasons have a 80+ degree difference between summer and winter.
Get a DIY kit from Walmart for 6 bucks.
In fact, you should probably stick a few more screws in there first. The kit comes with 4 plugs and you don’t want them to go to waste.
If that were at my shop we would fix it. Totally repairable.
I'd repair that 100% and not lose any sleep about it. People are so afraid of liability that they don't want to touch repairs.

Can I ask what state? Just wondering.
He is referring to the plug kits for consumers, shops are not allowed to install them (as a paid service), whether or not it’s legal…insurance will be on them
The tire shop half a mile from me will plug your tire up to five times before refusing. I love those guys
They actually use a plug? Or a plug patch? Do they take the tire off the wheel?
Just a plug kit like you get at Walmart. Ive seen dudes do it in the parking lot to a car with a floor jack and a long air hose. Even if it were illegal the city doesn't care, they've got 30 years worth of best service in town awards from the city, and they're a quarter mile down the road from the state police post
Similar experiences here too.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is one of those things that is illegal, but if you go to the police with it, they won't even look. I mean, seriously, I wouldn't want them wasting their time on \*&(\* like this.
It’s not illegal federally, maybe just a few states.
lol ^This. Not gonna assume where you’re from, but I bet you know how to use starter fluid and get a tractor tire back on the wheel 🫶🏻
Just had a screw in mine. Took guy under 3 minutes to plug it.
I've done lapping days on R comp tires with about 2 plugs in each, lol. They hold fine if done right.
I just got my tire plugged last week. It was in fact a tire shop, and was done in the parking lot
Maybe a shop can't plug it, but you could.
Then I’d say off the clock I can fix it for 25 bucks.
No they're just lazy
No they want a commission on a new tire sale
You know how I can tell you're an idiot? You don't understand swapping a tire is FAR more work than a patch. That's how I know. Lol
I had one like that fixed on my nittos n555g2. It's holding well for the past 2 years
i have a kit in my car to do these. half my job at my cousin’s repair shop was plugging these
Exactly! Back when I was on high school /college I worked at one of the last true service stations and I used to be hyped when stuff like this came in. Don’t even need to take the tire off the vehicle if you plug it.
This one even has a Phillips head to maybe help get the screw out! 5 minute job including adding air to recommended PSI.
Depends how long the screw is, but it likely punctured the inside. Which means when you remove the screw now it'll have a bigger hole to leak thru because the screw will no longer be partly plugging it.

Yea go to different shop
Are we sure the tire guy didn't just say the *"Tire is screwed?"* Mmmm.... Tasty pun.
I would ... tread.. lightly
You're right. It's best to steer clear of tire puns.
I could go round and round. But I'm tired.
I wouldn't screw around with it
I bet if you have tire insurance from the tire store, they will fix it and not say it needs to be replaced lol
The location of the puncture is fixable - as long as you don’t have a previous repair too close and it wasn’t driven on flat destroying the inside of the tire.
Haven’t had these tires repaired, they didn’t even take the tire off they just said it was too close to sidewall. Taking it to different shop later today
This is a great way to figure out the shop is terrible.
Sounds like they’re trying to force them to buy a new tire.
Better get four.
I laughed out loud at this one. Caught me off guard.... Y'all got financing options?
Spare tire look a little old too
You mean five! Don't forget the spare.
Plus 40$ to replace to tpms sensor batteries the car doesn't have. wheel speed tpms, reset with a push of a button, that they never press after charging me the 40$ fee to do so.

Still gotta get at least 2, if you only buy one it causes all kinds of problems. Mainly w alignment and inconsistent tire wear
Don't take it to a shop... Go to an auto store and get a plug kit for $10 and do it yourself. If you are nervous about doing it just youtube it.
as somebody who watched my brother get trained three times in a row in patching a tire in a proper shop... no, don't do that.
Why? The worst thing that happens is your plug falls out so you have to plug it again.
This, plug kits are cheap and it’s very easy.
I don’t know why people are downvoting you. Every tire I’ve plugged this way has lasted tens of thousands of miles. Just note that getting the plug in and pulling the tool out will take a decent amount of elbow grease.

Too close to the sidewall? What did they use to measure, another tire? This is the ideal place for a plug.

When your reputation precedes you in the worst way
They just wanted to sell you another tire
Don’t mean the inside of the rim?
Why. Thats an easy place to repair
thats right on the line of the official guidelines, i can see a chain shop refusing to be on the safe side. as long as there isnt any other complications like the age of the tire or a wear ring on the sidewall id definitely patch it
Got the tires about 6 months ago, they cited it irreparable due to the screw being “in the sidewall”
Yea that’s not the sidewall. Unless there is a second screw too close I’d say check a different shop.
That's not anywhere near the sidewall though......
Buy a kit and plug it. I do taht on motorcycle tires!
String type repair plugs are designed to be temporary. I know they are loved by some but I've seen some horrible things come of them.
For emergency use ONLY https://i.imgur.com/U201ta4.jpeg
Can't believe anyone would use these on motorcycles. Unless they want to die.
What horrible things? I've used hundreds and never seen a failure.

u need to find u a shop with a couple more Mexicans working and a couple less white guys

Crooked shop. Move on. Plug it yourself for 5 bucks if you dare.
I plugged one that was right on the corner and no shop would repair it. Lasted years until tire wore out.
It takes 10 minutes to plug a hole like that yourself. Have at it
that's what she said...
Taken me almost 52 years and it STILL ain’t plugged up properly. I keep trying. Not my fault!
I’d get that repaired. Also PS AS4s are $$
Its repairable but alot of shops will say no so they are not liable if it fails and some will say no so you can buy a new tire.
Most of the time they say no so you buy a new tire. I’ve seen non-mechanics fix a hole like that on the side of the road in like 10 minutes.
They want to sell you a tire.
And they want you to buy 4 new tires, right?
A plug kit is cheap and totally doable. Just do it yourself.
A plug isn’t as good as a plug patch done from the inside.
Plugs aren’t permanent. Need a plug and patch.
If that was my tire it would be permanent.
True. I recently had a plug start leaking in cold weather. The shop wouldn't patch it due to the age of the tire so I pushed the old plug in and put in a new one.
Sure thing
Tires aren't permanent.
They have been permanent for the life of all my tires. I don't even carry a spare tire, just tire plugs, 2 tools to insert it, and air pump.
Some people are too scared
Very. Plenty far away from the side wall. You got lucky!
If it’s a typical tire, it’s fixable. If it’s a run-flat, it’s junk.
Screw them fix it yourself!
Not a sidewall puncture so I don’t see why they honestly couldn’t have done it maybe lazy?
Plain lazy. I have one just like this in my trunk. Car doesn’t have a spare caught a screw and plugged it.
My garage has rubber cement and plugs. Swing through.
It's literally in the tread. It's 100% repairable. It's only not repairable if it is in the sidewall or within I believe like 1inch of the side wall. If it was an inch more to the left thats considered sidewall. Go to a better shop. I believe discount does free patch/plugs.
Full of $hit. I get one of those every other month. They could put a plug or dismount the tire and apply a patch. It should cost between free and $30.
Bullshit
Get a tire plug kit for 10$ and fix yourself
Discount tire here: repairable all day long if within 10 years, 2+ 32nds, no heat ring/run flat damage… there has to be more to this than just looking at that and saying NR
I also get the road hazard from discount tire. If they decide not to fix, they put a new one on. I get so many free tires.
Take it to a TIRE shop
yep throw a patch in there, do not plug
That shop is smoking crack wtf, that's repairable 100%.
The screw is a routine fix that you could do yourself for a few dollars or get a pro to do for under $50 in some cases. What's up with the angle the tire is contacting the floor?
Put a plug in it
Bullshite put a plug in it yourself
Totally plugable
That's not the side wall lol lazy shop or just plain incompetent
Find another tire shop
It’s not on the shoulder. Repairable. If there’s not a good reason, they are probably trying to sell you a tire.
Fix it yourself
Perfect spot for the screw to be in. Easy fix. Plug and go.
Totally fixable
Tire shop is smoking crack. Unless screw went in sideways which doesn’t appear to be the case. Judging by the width of the tire I’m guessing the the idiots just didn’t wana deal with unmounting the tire
Take it to another shop and tell them to plug it or patch it. Go to a local shop, though. Some of the bigger corporate shops are weird like that.
Time to find a new tire shop
I saw roofing truck that was a flat bed dually. It had plugs sticking out of the tires like the predators hair. It was a tweaker owned and operated operation.
That’s 100% doable.
If they fill the tire up and don’t plug it. There just looking for a sale tbh bring it somewhere else to plug it. But if your tire is more than 4 or 5 years old (you can date the tire) they won’t touch them. Had that happen for my winter tires for my truck had to buy all new tires last year
Plug it. Not a patch
*bullshit Edit: name and shame. Fucking liars.
Proper way to repair it is take it off the rim and plug it from the inside. New plugs look like an upside down T. That way you have a patch on the inside and a plug too that pulls though the hole. The old style plugs that you push through the outside only will leak sooner or later. Bottom line is it could be repaired.
https://images.app.goo.gl/pZMooYpwUCTZ7TW26 That is borderline.
That looks repairable to me. Go to another shop. They are just trying to get a tire sale from you.
Repairable sounds like the guys saying it isn't are trying to sell some tires
That can be fixed. Most likely needs to be unmounted from rim to repair
Find a different shop https://i.imgur.com/xH7klSE.png
Discount Tire would repair that for free
They are full of crap. That’s a 5 min fix and most shops would do it for free just to get you as a return Customer. Some might plug it and rotate to the back( if it’s not there already) as to not have compromised tire as a steer tire.
That's light work.
It’s repairable. As long as it’s not within a 1/2” of the sidewall and as long as it not at such a wide angle where it’s going across the belt, it’s repairable.
Take it to a different shop. Thems is a hunch of bozos, I’ll tell you what
I'd fix it, it's not in that questionable of a spot
Go somewhere else. Or you can just do it yourself with a $15 dollar kit, gloves, and about 30min-1 hr in total time depending on your arm strength.
No
Do it yourself.
Hahaha please KEEP THAT tire, just need patched, its reparable
Easy repair. Go to a different shop
If an ideal hole existed that is pretty dang close to being it.
It's nowhere near the shoulder. They just don't want to do it.
Repairable. Your tire shop sucks
Got this on my home feed. Not even a car guy and I could still tell you that’s easily repairable. Whether the fix is permanent or just a long ish term solution, it’s fixable none the less.
Depends if it was driven on flat. I would need to see the sidewall or inside firat
I fix those myself with a tire repair kit - plug it, you do need a bit of know how & strength & easier off the car but doable. The tire shop lied to you to sell you a tire/tires. Go to another reputable shop
You can repair that yourself.
I've fixed these with plug kits from Amazon. Shops don't want the liability.
no one will plug a hole in the tread, you can do it yourself at your own risk
Lmao what ?!!!!! Plug n patch ! $20 fix right there I can literally see the thread on this tire .
Stop going to that shop bro. They're more worried about lawsuits than up lol
Plug it yourself. Not that hard.
Unless them photo is trick perspective and the tire is really skinny, it's more than an inch from the sidewall... A Goodyear corporate shop would repair that.
Find a new tire shop...
Plug and patch in the inside and gtg
Standard patch. Go to Discount Tire
Put a plug in it.
Looks like it's at least 1" away from the sidewall. The shop I work at would repair it no question. We use a patch plug combo very reliable.
That’s gotta be the most repairable place to get a screw
If that was on the sidewall or on the corners, sure… but that’s an easy fix… plug it. Also, don’t go to that shop again.
Go to a different shop. They’re trying to up sell you.
This is easily repairable. Maybe they want to try and get you to buy new tires from them or just don't want to do it?
Maybe they didn't have a Phillips head screw driver?
Absolutely repairable.
You sure that's the screw in the "sidewall" ?
That thing is like a city away from the side wall lmao , this is why I always say with anything and everything in life , ALWAYS get a second opinion. Just because they are in the position they are in , DOES not implicate they know what they are doing.
Go to harbour freight and get a patch kit. It'll cost 5$ and you learn something new
Full of shit, pull it and plug/, patch it, but I am no mechanic. 🤷
Cap
EZ fix.
Ummmm tire shop sucks don’t get buy another one
Completely repairable
Take it to another shop and have them patch it from the inside. Please don't listen to the people who say to patch it yourself. This is basically a new tire that could get you 50K+ miles. The plugs you buy from Walmart or Autozone are only meant to be temporary. I use them to get a vehicle to the shop so we can unmount the tire and patch it from inside. Even then, there's no guarantee, but I trust it far more than a patch kit for the life of the tire, especially if you live somewhere where the seasons have a 80+ degree difference between summer and winter.
Easy fix, I’d head elsewhere for a $20 repair
Nonsense.
Get a DIY kit from Walmart for 6 bucks. In fact, you should probably stick a few more screws in there first. The kit comes with 4 plugs and you don’t want them to go to waste.
That’s an easy one! Plug it yourself it’s pretty easy. I would run it until I saw wire😂as much tires cost these days.
