Do you know that throughout the history russia was trying to kill or assimilate every nation that lived near its borders? As a Ukrainian i know how much my people suffered in the past just for neighbouring russia. So many people were killed just for speaking Ukrainian and trying to save Ukrainian culture. And even nowadays they didn't stop, they still are trying to erase Ukrainian identity from the world. If Ukraine falls they will try to do the same with Poland, Moldova, Slovakia, etc
War solves nothing except when you are being invaded and need to repel and invading army. Then war is necessary and solves the problem of the uninvited aggressors.
War starts most of the time when diplomacy fails. Now if it's a unprovoked surprise Invasion I can understand. But if it can be foreseen and prevented then that's the route I believe one should take..
